    A Case of Primary Colonic Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma in a Young Man which Preoperatively Mimicked Phlebosclerotic Colitis

    A 35-year-old man was referred to our hospital for chronic abdominal pain and diarrhea. Computed tomography showed wall thickening, poor contrast enhancement and calcification of the ascending colon, which were consistent with phlebosclerotic colitis. Malignant character was not detected from a biopsy specimen. Operatively, we observed a scirrhous mass of the ascending colon invading surrounding tissue, which was diagnosed as signet ring cell carcinoma based on analysis of an intraoperative frozen section. Right hemicolectomy with regional lymph node dissection was performed. This case was extremely similar to phlebosclerotic colitis in clinical findings; surgical resection was required for correct diagnosis

    本研究では、我が国において、公共交通車内における「弱者に席を譲る」「騒ぐ自分の子どもを注意する(抑止する)」という二つの協力行動を促すための有効な方策を明らかにすることを目的とし、欧州と東アジアの6か国における協力行動と規範の関係性に着目した。協力行動と規範の主観的評価については国際アンケート調査から、「マナーに関するアナウンスや掲示物」等、協力行動に影響を及ぼすと考えられる環境要因については鉄道会社のWebサイトや現地調査から把握し、分析を行った。その結果、「優先席」で席を譲る行動を促すアナウンスは、優先席以外で席を譲る行動を阻害している可能性がある事、また「騒ぐ自分の子供を注意する」行動を促すためには、周囲の協力行動に対する認知「記述的規範」を高める事が効果的である可能性が示された。This study examine the effective measures to encourage cooperative behavior of the "yield one\u27s seat to the elderly or pregnant women" and "scold noisy one\u27s children" in the public transportation.In order to its purpose, we focused on relationship between cooperative behavior and norm in Europe and East Asia of six countries. We conducted international survey that measured subjective evaluation of cooperative behavior and norms, and obtain data about environmental factors (such as announcement and bulletin) that are considered to affect the cooperative behavior from the field survey and the web site of railway company. Analysis results showed that announcement for urging to "yield your seat" at priority seat interrupt its behavior at seat other than priority seat ,and that it is effective to raise descriptive norm (awareness of the surrounding behavior) for encouraging to "scold noisy one\u27s children"

    子どもの頃の遊び体験と,成人後の安全認識および不安全行動との関連 : 社会福祉施設従事者および社会福祉系大学生を対象とした質問紙調査

    現在,産業現場,学校教育現場等では安全教育が実施されている.安全教育によって,各個人の危険に対する感受性を高めることができれば,自分および他人の不安全行動および不安全状態を察知し,事前に危険を回避できるようになる.一方で,子どもの頃の遊び体験が様々な感受性・社会性を育てることが示されてきた.これまで,子どもの遊び体験と危険感受性の関連についての研究は行われていない.そこで,本研究では,子どもの頃の遊び体験と危険感受性の関係を明らかにすることを目的とし,社会福祉現場職員および社会福祉関連の職業を目指す社会福祉系大学生を対象に(1)安全認識と安全行動および(2)子どもの頃の遊び体験,に関する調査を実施した.その結果,(1)安全認識と安全行動が危険感受性の重要因子であること,(2)子ども時代に積極的もしくは肯定的で能動的な日常生活を送ることが危険感受性の獲得に関係があること― を明らかにした

    Determination of cell fate in skeletal muscle following BMP gene transfer by in vivo electroporation

    We previously developed a novel method for gene transfer, which combined a non-viral gene expression vector with transcutaneous in vivo electroporation. We applied this method to transfer the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) gene and induce ectopic bone formation in rat skeletal muscles. At present, it remains unclear which types of cells can differentiate into osteogenic cells after BMP gene transfer by in vivo electroporation. Two types of stem cells in skeletal muscle can differentiate into osteogenic cells: muscle-derived stem cells, and bone marrow-derived stem cells in the blood. In the present study, we transferred the BMP gene into rat skeletal muscles. We then stained tissues for several muscle-derived stem cell markers (e.g., Pax7, M-cadherin), muscle regeneration-related markers (e.g., Myod1, myogenin), and an inflammatory cell marker (CD68) to follow cell differentiation over time. Our results indicate that, in the absence of BMP, the cell population undergoes muscle regeneration, whereas in its presence, it can differentiate into osteogenic cells. Commitment towards either muscle regeneration or induction of ectopic bone formation appears to occur five to seven days after BMP gene transfer.</p

    An evaluation of association between a novel hippocampal biology related SNP (rs7294919) and schizophrenia.

    Recent genetic analyses have implicated several candidate susceptibility variants for schizophrenia. The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs7294919 is likely a schizophrenia-susceptibility variant according to its significant association with hippocampal volume, hippocampus function, and cognitive performance as well as the nominal association with schizophrenia. However, all previous analyses were conducted only in Europeans, and whether rs7294919 is associated with schizophrenia in other populations are yet to be tested. Here, we conducted a case-control analysis of rs7294919 with schizophrenia in six independent Chinese (N = 3) and Japanese (N = 3) samples, including a total of 7,352 cases and 10,824 controls. The results of our association analysis were not able to confirm the association of rs7294919 with schizophrenia (p = 0.51 in total samples, odds ratio = 1.02 for allele[C]). The absence of rs7294919's association in Chinese and Japanese suggest a potential genetic heterogeneity in the susceptibility of schizophrenia on this locus and also demonstrate the difficulties in replicating associations of schizophrenia across different ethnic populations
