In the course of the study when assessing the microcirculatory changes caused by the simulation of frostbite, the most pronounced effect of the combined treatment of Serotonin adipinate 4.5 mg/kg and opioid peptide DSLET 10 μg/kg compared with monotherapy with the studied drugs was estimated. The most effective correction of indices of oxidantantioxidant protection observed with the combination of necrectomy with a combination of Serotonin adipinate and opioid peptide DSLET, which was confirmed by approximating the indicators of malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase, finite stable metabolites of nitrogen oxide, total antioxidant activity and catalase to the values of intact animals on the 14th day of the experiment and reducing the level of proinflammatory cytokines (interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-alpha) in 2 times (p < 0.05) compared to the Control grou

The definition of specific antiparkinsonian effects of Rapitalam

Previously, we identified a metabotropic glutamate receptor 4 (mGluR4) as a potential target for drugs and predicted that activation of mGluR4 could provide a palliative advantage in the treatment of Parkinson's disease. Determine the mechanism of action of Rapitalam in vitro on a cell culture with mGluR4 over expression. The HEK293T cell line expressing human mGluR4 was used in the wor

Cardiotoxic Effects of Yew Tree and Pink Periwinkle Alkaloids

    Get PDF
Antitumour herbal medicines based on pink periwinkle and yew tree alkaloids are included in combination therapies for many types of cancer. The use of these classes of products may entail cardiotoxic effects leading to life-threatening conditions. The aim of the study was to analyse scientific literature on cardiotoxic effects of anticancer drugs based on yew tree alkaloids (taxanes) and pink periwinkle alkaloids (vinca alkaloids). The results of the analysis demonstrated that the main manifestations of taxane-induced cardiotoxicity were bradycardia, atrioventricular block, atrial and ventricular arrhythmias. Concomitant use of taxanes and anthracycline antibiotics exacerbated cardiotoxic effects of both drug classes. The use of vinca alkaloids was associated with haematological toxicity in the form of neutropenia, while cardiotoxic effect was rarely observed during monotherapy. Raising awareness among oncologists, cardiologists, and other specialists involved in the management of cancer patients about potential cardiac complications of antitumour therapy contributes to early detection of adverse reactions and allows for individual correction of treatment regimens, especially in patients with predisposition to cardiovascular disease

The fluctuating \alpha-effect and Waldmeier relations in the nonlinear dynamo models

We study the possibility to reproduce the statistical relations of the sunspot activity cycle, like the so-called Waldmeier relations, the cycle period - amplitude and the cycle rise rate - amplitude relations, by means of the mean field dynamo models with the fluctuating \alpha-effect. The dynamo model includes the long-term fluctuations of the \alpha-effect and two types of the nonlinear feedback of the mean-field on the \alpha-effect including the algebraic quenching and the dynamic quenching due to the magnetic helicity generation. We found that the models are able to reproduce qualitatively and quantitatively the inclination and dispersion across the Waldmeier relations with the 20% fluctuations of the \alpha-effect. The models with the dynamic quenching are in a better agreement with observations than the models with the algebraic \alpha-quenching. We compare the statistical distributions of the modeled parameters, like the amplitude, period, the rise and decay rates of the sunspot cycles, with observations.Comment: revision, (add comment about effect of nonlinear diffusivity): 18 pages, 7 Figures, submitted to Physica Script

Atomically dispersed Pt-N-4 sites as efficient and selective electrocatalysts for the chlorine evolution reaction

Chlorine evolution reaction (CER) is a critical anode reaction in chlor-alkali electrolysis. Although precious metal-based mixed metal oxides (MMOs) have been widely used as CER catalysts, they suffer from the concomitant generation of oxygen during the CER. Herein, we demonstrate that atomically dispersed Pt-N-4 sites doped on a carbon nanotube (Pt-1/CNT) can catalyse the CER with excellent activity and selectivity. The Pt-1/CNT catalyst shows superior CER activity to a Pt nanoparticle-based catalyst and a commercial Ru/Ir-based MMO catalyst. Notably, Pt-1/CNT exhibits near 100% CER selectivity even in acidic media, with low Cl- concentrations (0.1M), as well as in neutral media, whereas the MMO catalyst shows substantially lower CER selectivity. In situ electrochemical X-ray absorption spectroscopy reveals the direct adsorption of Cl- on Pt-N-4 sites during the CER. Density functional theory calculations suggest the PtN4C12 site as the most plausible active site structure for the CER

EFFICACY OF REMAXOL AND ADEMETHIONINE IN EXPERIMENTAL LIVER DAMAGE CAUSED BY A COMBINATION OF RESERVE-SERIES ANTITUBERCULOSIS DRUGS AND ALCOHOL

The hepatic and endothelial protective effects of remaxol and S-adenosyl-L-methionine were studied on 24 male rats with liver damage caused by reserve-series antituberculosis drugs in combination with alcohol. The test agents were found to have a unilateral hepatoprotective effect in decreasing the blood levels of triglycerides, bilirubin, and alkaline phosphatase with a concurrent significant reduction in the manifestations of hyaline-drop and hydropic dystrophy of hepatocytes. Remaxol and ademethionine have the same endothelial protective activity manifested as normalization of an endothelium-dependent vasodilation response and endothelial dysfunction coefficient

Experimental work conducted on Wistar rat line. Ischemia was simulated on the shin muscles of rats. Muscle ischaemia correction performed intragastric administration of pentoxifylline at a dose of 60 mg / kg of vardenafil dose of 0.9 mg / kg daily for 28 days and in combination vardenafil dose of 0.09 mg / kg of pentoxifylline and 30 mg / kg for 7 days. Results were evaluated 21 and 28 hours. The level of microcirculatory perfusion expressed in units. Correction of muscle ischemia combination of vardenafil and pentoxifylline in small doses for 7 days stimulates angiogenesis and improves blood circulation in the distal extremities in proportion to the average therapeutic dose of vardenafil 28 days

Successes and challenges in applications of a laboratory-based scanning XPS/HAXPES instrument

International audienceX-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) is a widely used surface analysis technique with many well-established industrial and research applications, including nanoelectronics. The surface sensitivity (top 5-10 nm) of XPS and its ability to provide short-range chemical bonding information makes the technique extremely popular in the characterization of electronic materials. While its surface sensitivity is an important attribute, in some cases, the depth of analysis of XPS is not sufficient to analyze buried interfaces without first sputtering the sample surface. The interfaces of interest for characterization or metrology are often buried underneath metal electrodes or oxide layers and/or localized in small areas, which has been an increasing challenge for XPS
