Woody Allen x Persona: passaporte duplo
Our text intends to argue that Woody Allen, in the process of creating his persona, becomes holder of a double passport that allows him to exhibit his own worldview through his characters or to make them mere cinematographic devices. His manqué autobiographical performance, his Jewish humor and his unstableness and subtleness lead to the entertainment his films provide as well as to the reflection about existential and philosophical themes, in intertextual and dialogical process.
This is a translation of the article titled "Solitary conversation: A Bakhtinian exploration of H. P. Lovecraft's 'Dagon'" by Isaac Aday. H. P. Lovecraft’s stories are often investigated for their ability to inculcate horror, and only rarely examined in terms of form, structure, and language. Breaking from this critical paradigm, the present paper engages Lovecraft’s classic tale ‘Dagon’ with Mikhail Bakhtin’s concept of “polyphony,” recognizing the solitary narrator not as one single voice, but rather multiple fully valid voices. In so doing, this piece arrives at a new understanding of dialogue and voice in Lovecraft’s writing which might influence how we read his other works, if not horror in general. Directions for future research are also included. This is a translation of the article titled "Solitary conversation: A Bakhtinian exploration of H. P. Lovecraft's 'Dagon'" by Isaac Aday.
Comparison between bearing, symmetry, and transfer weight measurements in subjects with or without hemiparesis
_________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTAssessment of symmetry and weight-transfer (ASWT) was indicated to relate symmetry and functional activity in the hemiparesis, pointing as the most qualified symmetrical. However, such relationships are not clear and disagree with evidences suggesting asymmetries as strategies for functional strategies. Then, it was proposed to verify the measurements subjectively determined by ASWT agree with measurements calculated by weight-bearing distribution for each foot. It was applied observational study with transversal design for sample of subjects with hemiparesis (n=20) matched by age and gender with controls (n=20). Participants were included in procedures toobtain scores by ASWT and to calculate symmetry ratio (SR) in the weight-bearing between feet by digital scales. The results obtained by ASWT indicated only one subject with hemiparesis presenting symmetry among four subjects identified as symmetric by SR. Besides, the ASWT did not differ overweight toward the affected side and presented significant correlation only when the scores were analyzed with values of SR<1(overweight toward the non-affected side). It was concluded that the ASWT was not agreementto identify weight-bearing distribution compatible with symmetry. Moreover, it did not identify overweight toward the affected side that could to drive to mistaken analysis of the relationship between symmetries and functional performance

Entropy based routing for mobile, low power and lossy wireless sensors networks
[EN] Routing protocol for low-power and lossy networks is a routing solution specifically developed for wireless sensor networks, which does not quickly rebuild topology of mobile networks. In this article, we propose a mechanism based on mobility entropy and integrate it into the corona RPL (CoRPL) mechanism, which is an extension of the IPv6 routing protocol for low-power and lossy networks (RPL). We extensively evaluated our proposal with a simulator for Internet of Things and wireless sensor networks. The mobility entropy-based mechanism, called CoRPL+E, considers the displacement of nodes as a deciding factor to define the links through which nodes communicate. Simulation results show that the proposed mechanism, when compared to CoRPL mechanism, is effective in reducing packet loss and latency in simulated mobile routing protocol for low-power and lossy networks. From the simulation results, one can see that the CoRPL+E proposal mechanism provides a packet loss reduction rate of up to 50% and delays reduction by up to 25% when compared to CoRPL mechanism. The author(s) disclosed receipt of the following financial support for the research, authorship, and/or publication of this article: This research was funded by SIDIA Institute of Science and Technology, by Coordenacao de Aperfeicxoamento de Pessoal de Nivel Superior (CAPES), by Fundacao de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado do Amazonas (FAPEAM)-support programs (Programa Primeiros Projetos (PPP) and Programa de Tecnologia da Informacao na Amazonia (PROTI)-Amazonia-Mobilidade), by Camara Tecnica de Reconstrucao e Recuperacao de Infraestrutura (CT-INFRA) of Ministerio da Ciencia, Tecnologia, Inovacoes e Comunicacoes(MCTI)/Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (CNPq), and by Secretaria de Estado de Ciencia, Tecnologia e Inovacao Amazonas (SECTI-AM) and Government of Amazon State, Brazil.Carvalho, C.; Mota, E.; Ferraz, E.; Seixas, P.; Souza, P.; Tavares, V.; Lucena Filho, W.... COMPATIBILIDADE FÍSICO-QUÍMICA DE DIFERENTES DOSES E MISTURAS DE HERBICIDAS
The maintenance of the productivity of commercial crops is dependent on the use of phytosanitary products, but information about the interaction between them when used in mixture is restricted. The objective was to evaluate the physical properties, droplet spectrum and the physicochemical compatibility of mixtures with different doses and mixtures of herbicides. The treatments consisted of combining a formulation of the herbicide glyphosate with two commercial products formulated with the herbicide atrazine. The syrups were evaluated by the static method of physicochemical compatibility, obtaining descriptive tables regarding the aspects of homogeneity/heterogeneity. The measurements of the surface tension and contact angle were performed for one minute using the droplet method to determine the surface tension kinetics and the sessile droplet method to determine the contact angle. The evaluated parameters of the droplet spectrum produced by each treatment were the median volumetric diameter, the uniformity coefficient and the percentage of volume in droplets with diameters less than 100 μm. Constant agitation of the phytosanitary syrup before and during application is essential to reduce problems of incompatibility between products. The spectrum of droplets can vary according to the composition of the spray solution and the dose of the product used.
Could heart rate variability be associated with weight bearing asymmetries in cerebrovascular diseases?
Introduction: Cerebrovascular diseases result in sensory-motor deficits disturbing postural control that is observed by weight-bearing asymmetries commonly named as hemiparesis. Besides hemiparetic impairments, first observed after stroke, many studies have pointed cardiac failure and risk of sudden death as the main factors responsible for death of stroke survivars. This case series characterized weight-bearing asymmetries and heart rate variability, and describes relationships between these parameters in hemiparesis.
Case Series: Brazilian male subjects with chronic hemiparesis acquired after ischemic stroke in the middle cerebral artery. Five were selected to study heart rate variability obtained by Root Mean Square Successive Difference. Also, weight-bearing asymmetries were measured by Symmetry Ratio calculated by weight-bearing recorded between each foot. The Symmetry Ratio was 1.1±0.43 for all cases presenting a symmetry case (n = 1) and different types of asymmetries cases (n = 4) during upright position. Root Mean Square Successive Difference was 9.9±3.4, presenting strong and significant (p < 0.05) positive correlation with age and a strong but not significant (0.05 < p < 0.10) negative correlation with hemiparesis chronicity. A strong but not significant negative correlation was observed between the Root Mean Square Successive Difference and the Symmetry Rate values.
Conclusion: A characteristic pattern of heart rate variability for patients with cerebrovascular disease was observed in these cases, associated significantly with age. Still, this behavior seems to be influenced by chronicity and by different types of asymmetries in the distribution of weight bearing that could be investigated in more appropriate clinical research designs
Efficacy of HPA Lanolin® in treatment of lip alterations related to chemotherapy
