Digital divide, skills and perceptions on smart working in Italy: From necessity to opportunity
Abstract This is a pioneering study on how smart working could influence the way of working in Italy. The COVID19 pandemic is making workers discover opportunities that should have been seized 30 years ago. Once the emergency is over, the world and working methods will never be the same. The Coronavirus emergency has accelerated a reflection on smart working to govern the necessary changes in the organization of work also in the medium term. For this reason, the aim of the present research was to carry out a survey on smart working on the entire Italian national territory. Although the study is a pilot study, the survey results are encouraging giving the opportunity to reflect and define strategies. For this reason, is imaginable and desirable that further relevant national initiatives will be started during the year to investigate needs, define good practices on smart working and promote this "new" way to work
Optimization of Automotive Glass Production through Business Process Reengineering Approach

In a world increasingly driven by the three Cs: Customer, Competition and Change, companies are on the lookout for new solutions for their business problems. To increase product yields and to ensure consistent product quality, key issues of industrial fermentations, process optimization and scale up are aimed at maintaining optimum and homogenous reaction conditions minimizing costs. The aim of our paper is to propose a methodological approach based on Business Process Reengineering in order to optimize the re-engineering production processes improving the management costs and considering the determination of process areas, the general layout, the selection and organization of the production equipment, the definition of the times of the realization process and the measure of the âabilityâ of the process
Multidimensional Balanced Efficiency Decision Model
 In this paper a multicriteria methodological approach, based on Balanced Scorecard (BSC) and Analytic Network Process (ANP), is proposed to evaluate competitiveness performance in luxury sector. A set of specific key performance indicators (KPIs) have been proposed. The contribution of our paper is to present the integration of two methodologies, BSC â a multiple perspective framework for performance assessment â and ANP â a decision-making tool to prioritize multiple performance perspectives and indicators and to generate a unified metric that incorporates diversified issues for conducting supply chain improvements. The BSC/ANP model is used to prioritize all performances within a luxury industry. A real case study is presented.Â

Economic and Environmental Evaluation Via an Integrated Method based on LCA and MCDA
AbstractThe progress of business is moving fast and the key to maintain advantage and competitiveness is research and continuous improvement. Besides economic, environment is always more object of evaluation analysis. There are numerous ways to assess individually both economic and environmental aspects, but in order to guarantee a high quality of improvement, an integration of different methods and theories is required. Thus, this research provides an integration of two different approaches: The Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Multi Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). The first allows the analyst to understand the environmental issue. The second is useful in order to select the best solution for improvement. The main purpose of this study is to develop a systematic method, easy to use and giving useful results. In the present work existing methods are reviewed and integrated in a new approach proposed to support continuous improvement. A real case in an Italian bearing plant is presented
Prioritizing Human Factors in Emergency Conditions Using AHP Model and FMEA
One of the most critical issues related to safety in industrial plant is to manage accidents that occur in industries. In general, the causes of accidents are twofold: the presence of dangerous equipment and human errors. The aim of this study is to propose a novel approach to ensure safety in emergency conditions in industrial plant considering both of these factors. The proposed idea aims to integrate the human reliability analysis (HRA) and the failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA). The human errors and failure modes are categorized using a multicriteria approach based on analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The final aim is to present a novel methodological approach based on AHP to prioritize actions to carry out in emergency conditions taking into account both qualitative and quantitative factors. A real case study is analyzed. The analysis allowed to identify possible failure modes connected with human error process

A Cognitive Model for Emergency Management in Hospitals: Proposal of a Triage Severity Index
Hospitals play a critical role in providing communities with essential medical care during all types of disasters. Any accident that damages systems or people often requires a multifunctional response and recovery effort. Without an appropriate emergency planning, it is impossible to provide good care during a critical event. In fact, during a disaster condition, the same âcriticalâ severity could occur for patients. Thus, it is essential to categorize and to prioritize patients with the aim to provide the best care to as many patients as possible with the available resources. Triage assesses the severity of patients to give an order of medical visit. The purpose of the present research is to develop a hybrid algorithm, called triage algorithm for emergency management (TAEM). The goal is twofold: First, to assess the priority of treatment; second, to assess in which hospital it is preferable to conduct patients. The triage models proposed in the literature are qualitative. The proposed algorithm aims to cover this gap. The model presented exceeds the limits of literature by developing a quantitative algorithm, which performs a numerical index. The hybrid model is implemented in a real scenario concerning the accident management in a petrochemical plant
