ZAP – Muito mais que um acesso privilegiado

Parafraseando as prescrições e especificações técnicas da 2ª Edição do Manual de Infraestruturas de Telecomunicações em Edifícios (ITED), “Os fogos de uso residencial possuem, obrigatoriamente, um local onde se concentram as três tecnologias: par de cobre (PC), cabo coaxial (CC) e fibra ótica (FO). Esse local é designado por Zona de Acesso Privilegiado (ZAP) e localiza‐se na divisão mais adequada, no entendimento do projetista e de acordo com as preferências do dono de obra“. Nesta zona concentram‐se as 3 tecnologias atualmente obrigatórias constituindo, assim, um suporte para o fornecimento avançado de serviços tecnológicos evoluídos. A modernização e evolução das infraestruturas de comunicações eletrónicas em Portugal na última década, quer ao nível regulatório, quer ao nível tecnológico dos equipamentos, constituem, implacavelmente, um poderoso incentivo à expansão da sociedade do conhecimento que deixaremos como legado às gerações vindouras

A comparison of two methods for the definition of Regional Metropolitan Areas through an application in the North of Portugal

The objective of this paper is to present a comparison of two methods for the definition of regional metropolitan areas, in a perspective of identification of urban territories with similar characteristics. In this study it is assumed that population density is, in the absence of another measure that describe daily or weekly individual movements, a variable that can be used to evaluate, although indirectly, the activity level and dynamics of the territory. The first method explored here uses ESDA (Exploratory Spatial Data Analyses) techniques for the definition of regional metropolitan areas. The second method is based on an index value that results from a rank of the variable under analysis in a spatial context, both at the local and national (or regional) levels. The methods are implemented in a case study in the north of Portugal, where this is a very opportune issue.

An intelligent tutoring system for operators’ training in power system control centres

The activity of Control Center operators is important to guarantee the effective performance of Power Systems. Operators’ actions are crucial to deal with incidents, especially severe faults, like blackouts. In this paper we present an Intelligent Tutoring approach for training Portuguese Control Centre operators in tasks like incident analysis and diagnosis, and service restoration of Power Systems. Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) approach is used in the training of the operators, taking into account context awareness and the unobtrusive integration in the working environment

Intelligent training in control centres based on an ambient intelligence paradigm

This article describes a new approach in the Intelligent Training of Operators in Power Systems Control Centres, considering the new reality of Renewable Sources, Distributed Generation, and Electricity Markets, under the emerging paradigms of Cyber-Physical Systems and Ambient Intelligence. We propose Intelligent Tutoring Systems as the approach to deal with the intelligent training of operators in these new circumstances

(R,R)-N-phenyl-3,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyrrolidine: an N-aryl pyrrolidine ligand for enantioselective transfer hydrogenation

The N-aryl pyrrolidine diphosphine (R,R)-N-phenyl-3,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)pyrrolidine was obtained from natural tartaric acid. Contrary to our preliminary expectations, this new chiral ligand proved to be less selective than the corresponding N-benzyl pyrrolidine diphosphine. Synthesis, crystal structure and magnetic properties of an alternating manganese chain

A new 1D complex has been prepared and characterized. X-ray single crystal structure confirms that the Mn(II) ions assemble in alternating chains with Mn-Mn distances of 3.8432(13) and 4.4428(14) Å. A 3D network of hydrogen bonds links the chains together. The temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility reveals that this compound undergoes a magnetic transition and exhibits an antiferromagnetic interaction in the low-temperature phase with two alternating exchange interactions of -2.32(1) and -5.55(1) cm-1.http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6WM2-4JKC5PW-3/1/57fbdb3ac410627d046c6e4fdf2f0e3

Impacte da Liga das Nações na economia vimaranense

Dissertação de mestrado em Economia Industrial e da EmpresaOs eventos desportivos são capazes de mudar a imagem de países e cidades. Os países usam esses megaeventos, principalmente, para aumentar as oportunidades de desenvolvimento económico e social, para atrair investimento estrangeiro, para gerar receitas de turismo, para regenerar partes das cidades e aumentar a autoestima da população. Os países anfitriões promovem-se como sendo lugares modernos e atraentes, isto é, ideais para turistas. A competição a que se reporta esta investigação, a Fase Final da Liga das Nações, foi mundialmente inovadora e Portugal foi sede da sua primeira Fase Final! Portugal, que ao longo dos últimos anos tem recebido cada vez mais competições internacionais de grande nível, mostrou ter uma estrutura organizacional e ligações hierárquicas extraordinárias, na medida em que a cada membro (FPF, Câmara Municipal de Guimarães e Vitória Sport Club) possuía um determinado nível de responsabilidade e de competência, elogiadas por todos os responsáveis da UEFA. Neste sentido, através de factos evidenciados em vários artigos de jornal e de entrevistas semiestruturadas conduzidas a um conjunto de agentes, são apresentadas as perceções dos impactes económicos da Fase Final da Liga das Nações que se realizou em Portugal em 2019, incidindo a atenção da investigação sobretudo no caso da cidade de Guimarães. Para além disso, foi elaborado e aplicado um questionário relativo à “Perceção dos Habitantes de Guimarães em relação à Liga das Nações 2019”, que teve como principal objetivo perceber quais as opiniões e expectativas que os habitantes de Guimarães tinham em relação ao evento. Este evento foi absolutamente fantástico para a cidade de Guimarães e para o país. De acordo com os resultados empíricos obtidos pelas vias antes enunciadas, todas as entidades entrevistadas lucraram com a sua realização, e estima-se que o evento gerou um impacte económico na ordem dos 150 milhões de euros. Para além disso, sentiu-se um grande entusiasmo e orgulho nos habitantes de Guimarães pela presença de tantos turistas e consequente aumento da atividade económica na cidade. Guimarães esteve nas “bocas do mundo”, foi elogiada por todas as entidades organizadoras e mostrou como uma cidade pequena e acolhedora é capaz de organizar um evento tão complexo e de tamanha importância como a Fase Final da Liga das Nações 2019.Sports events can change the image of countries and cities. Countries use these mega-events mainly to increase opportunities for economic and social development, to attract foreign investment, to generate revenue through tourism, to rebuild parts of cities, and increase the population's self-esteem. Host countries promote themselves as modern and attractive places, that is, ideal for tourists. This competition, the Final Phase of the Nations League, was innovative worldwide, and Portugal hosted its first Final Phase! Portugal, which over the last few years has been receiving more and more high-level international competitions, has shown to have an organizational structure and extraordinary hierarchical connections, as each member (FPF, Guimarães City Hall and Vitória Sport Clube) had a level of responsibility and competence, praised by all UEFA officials. In this sense, through facts evidenced in articles published in several newspaper and through semi-structured interviews applied to a set of local and national agents, the perceptions on the economic impacts of the hosting of the Final Phase of the Nations League are shown here, focusing especially on those experienced by the city of Guimarães. Furthermore, a questionnaire on the “Perception of the inhabitants of Guimarães of the effects of the Nations League 2019” was designed and applied, which main goal was to understand the perceptions and expectations kept by the inhabitants of Guimarães about the event. This event was amazing for the city of Guimarães and the country, as a whole. According to the statements obtained, all the entities interviewed profited from its realization and it is estimated that it generated an economic impact in the order of 150 million euros. Furthermore, there was a great sense of enthusiasm and pride among the inhabitants of Guimarães due to the presence of so many tourists and the consequent increase of the city economic activity. Guimarães was on “everybody’s lips”, was praised by all organizing entities, and showed how a small and welcoming city can organize an event as complex and of such importance as the Final Phase of the Nations League 2019
