Optimizing Key Distribution in Peer to Peer Network Using B-Trees

    Get PDF
Peer to peer network architecture introduces many desired features including self-scalability that led to achieving higher efficiency rate than the traditional server-client architecture. This was contributed to the highly distributed architecture of peer to peer network. Meanwhile, the lack of a centralized control unit in peer to peer network introduces some challenge. One of these challenges is key distribution and management in such an architecture. This research will explore the possibility of developing a novel scheme for distributing and managing keys in peer to peer network architecture efficiently

SYNTHESIS AND ELECTRICAL PROPERTIES OF COPOLYMERS CONTAINING 3-PHENYL[5]FERROCENOPHANE-1,5-DIMETHYLENE AND VINYLIMIDAZOLE

Ferrocene is a well-known organometallic compound and its structure consists of an iron atom sandwiched between two cyclopentadienyl rings. Ferrocene has unique properties such as redox chemistry, high electron density, thermal stability and aromaticity. In addition, the ferrocene can be incorporated into polymers either into the backbone or on the side chains. Ferrocene incorporated polymers have received considerable attention in the areas of electro-catalysis, electrode coating, and battery applications. Therefore, the main purpose of this study is to characterize the electrochemical behavior of copolymers of 3-phenyl[5]ferrocenophane-1,5-dimethylene with vinyl imidazole in aqueous solutions with various electrolytes: sodium perchlorate, zinc perchlorate, cadmium perchlorate, magnesium perchlorate, and lead perchlorate. Using a Wittig reaction, the 3-phenyl[5]ferrocenophane-1,5-dimethylene was synthesized from 3-phenyl[5]ferrocenophane-1,5-dione. Copolymerization with vinyl imidazole was achieved using AIBN as the initiator. The resulting polymers were characterized by FTIR, 1HNMR and 13CNMR. Cyclic voltammetry was performed in order to determine electrochemical response of each polymer. Finally, copolymers were investigated by UV-vis spectroscopy as solution in methylene chloride and as thin films to determine electronic communication between the ferrocene and imidazole moieties

The potential impacts of digital transformation on organizations

    Get PDF
Digital Transformation is the new trend in all industries. Although, the term’s usage in the industries is still vague and ambiguous, many organizations have claimed that they have begun their digital transformation journey or have a plan to do so. For those reasons there is an urgent necessity to understand what digital transformation is? and how to evaluate its impact on an organization. Thus, this paper seeks to investigate the potential impact of digital transformation on organizations. This study utilized a qualitative research method of investigation, semi-structured interviews with different participants from different organizations were performed. Two major areas were identified to be the most susceptible organizations’ functional areas that impacted by the transformation, and they synthesized into a cohesive model. The model includes Organization Business Processes Optimization, Organizational Information Technology which led to organization innovation. The model can help organizations to identify and consider the impact digital transformation

Corporate Governance and Earnings Management in Saudi Listed Firms

    Get PDF
The system of corporate governance is designed for the effective and efficient operation of corporations on behalf of stakeholders as a mean of enabling various stakeholders to monitor managers effectively against opportunistic behavior. The corporate governance mechanisms have shown in other context of different organizations to affect firms' behavior particularly the earnings management practices. The issue has been tested worldwide and it was shown that earnings management could be affected by the structure of corporate governance of the firms. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the impact of corporate governance mechanisms (i.e. independent director, Board size, board meetings and audit committee characteristics) on earnings management activities in Saudi listed firms for the year 2008. The study is significant due to the lack of empirical studies in the field of corporate governance and earnings management since the Saudi code of corporate governance has been enacted in the late 2006. More interesting this study will be of significant since it tests the period following the financial crisis in order to show whether the earnings management activities have experienced a change during this period compares to the past period as well as whether the corporate governance enhance the earnings quality and help in curbing earnings management in such critical period. The results of the study show that earnings management activities do not experienced any change post enactment of corporate governance code for Saudi listed firms. Furthermore, the corporate governance mechanisms have shown to have no impact on earnings management except for the board meetings which show negative relationship with earnings management. The impactions of the study for regulations are to help them in assessing whether the corporate governance achieved its objectives in order for them to take the corrective actions wherever necessary

The current study aimed to identify the impact of the teachers personality on the motivation of learning English among government school students in the city of Abha, Saudi Arabia. The descriptive correlative method was used, and two questionnaires were designed to collect the data. They were distributed electronically, and the study targeted a sample of English language teachers in public secondary schools in Abha, and a sample of high school students in Abha, who were chosen randomly in a simple way. The results of the study showed that English language teachers have personal characteristics that qualify them to teach in high government schools, with an average of (3.6918), which is considered as a highly - approved degree, and that students have a motivation to learn English with an average of (3.7828), which means they scored a high degree of approval. The results also showed the effect of the teachers personality on the motivation of students towards learning English. The results also showed that it is possible to predict the motivation of learning English through the teachers personality

Enhancing Hadoop MapReduce Performance for Scientific Data using NoSQL Database

Scientific data sets usually have similar jobs that are frequently applied to the data by different users. In addition, many of these data sets are unstructured, complex, and required fast and simple processing. In order to increase the performance of the existing Hadoop and MapReduce algorithm, it is necessary to develop an algorithm based on the type of data sets and requirements of the jobs. In this poster, we represent a Hadoop MapReduce environment that uses genomic and biological data as an example of unstructured and complex data

The adjustment of self-initiated expatriate academics in higher education institutions in Saudi Arabia

    Get PDF
The phenomenon of expatriate employment has expanded in recent years as a consequence of increased globalisation of almost all facets of life. Apart from the conventional engagement of expatriates sent on international assignments by their employing organisations, there is a new trend of self-initiated expatriates (SIEs) who, on their own initiative, seek and secure employment in foreign countries. Regardless of which of the above categories one belongs to, the ability to perform well in the new environment will depend on the expatriates' capacity to harmonise to the conditions prevailing in the host country. These include becoming accustomed to living, working and interacting with the host country nationals-a process described as 'adjustment'. Given the unlimited number of possible cross-cultural obstacles that every expatriate may confront, it is in the interest of both the expatriate and the employing organisation to understand what factors influence their adjustment and how well they adjust
