Urban parks and wetlands, with their associated biodiversity, are critical for the maintenance and improvement of the quality of life of the local population, thanks to the provision of multiple ecosystem services. The objective of this work was to establish the potential ecosystem services offered by the Laguna Doña Ana Recreational Park, in Paraíso, Cartago, Costa Rica, based on the ecological, biological, physicochemical characterization and visitors' perception of the ecosystem services, for the elaboration of management proposals. Soil and water sampling were conducted for the analysis of physicochemical parameters and Pearson’s correlation and Kruskal Wallis tests were applied. The richness and distribution of arboreal and aquatic vegetation was evaluated. A bird counting was performed with the support of the eBird platform. The perception of ecosystem services by visitors was evaluated using surveys and a matrix of potential ecosystem services was constructed. The soil in the park is sandy-clay-loam, with a pH of 5.35 (+/-0.47) and a redox potential of 183mV (+/-19.89). It has hydromorphic condition, allowing water regulation functions. Bird species richness was 186, of which 72% were resident and 28% migratory. Tree species richness was 29, of which 62% were native and 38% exotic. The species Nymphoides indica dominated the water mirror. Visitors valued the recreational, sports and air quality regulation services. The richness of trees and avifauna is similar to that of other urban parks, with the presence of introduced and exotic species. Visitors should be made aware of the park's services. In conclusion, the park's condition is from regular to good. Management measures were proposed to rehabilitate and maintain the park's potential ecosystem services.Máster Universitario en Restauración de Ecosistema

[EN] Creative thinking is necessary to generate novel ideas and solve problems. "EstuPlan" is a methodology in which knowledge and creativity converge for the resolution of scientific problems with social projection. It is a training programme that integrates teachers, laboratory technicians and PhD students, master and undergraduate students which form working groups for the development of projects. Projects have a broad and essential scope and projection in terms of environmental problems, sustainable use of natural resources, food, health, biotechnology or biomedicine. The results show the success of this significant learning methodology using tools to develop creativity in responding to scientific and social demand for problem-solving to transfer academic knowledge to different professional environments. Bioplastics, Second Life of Coffee, LimBio, Algae oils, Ecomers, Caring for the life of your crop and Hate to Deforestate are currently being developed.Astudillo Calderón, S.; De Díez De La Torre, L.; García Companys, M.; Ortega Pérez, N.; Rodríguez Martínez, V.; Alzahrani, S.; Alonso Valenzuela, R....
