Averages of b-hadron, c-hadron, and tau-lepton properties as of 2018 Heavy Flavor Averaging Group (HFLAV)

This paper reports world averages of measurements of b-hadron, c-hadron, and τ -lepton properties obtained by the Heavy Flavour Averaging Group using results available through September 2018. In rare cases, significant results obtained several months later are also used. For the averaging, common input parameters used in the various analyses are adjusted (rescaled) to common values, and known correlations are taken into account. The averages include branching fractions, lifetimes, neutral meson mixing parameters, C P violation parameters, parameters of semileptonic decays, and Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix elements

We observe one resonant state, with the following properties:m(Ξ∗0b)−m(Ξ−b)−m(π+)=15.727±0.068(stat)±0.023(syst)MeV/c2,Γ(Ξ∗0b)=0.90±0.16(stat)±0.08(syst)MeV.This confirms the previous observation by the CMS collaboration. The state is consistent with the JP=3/2+ Ξ∗0b resonance expected in the quark model. This is the most precise determination of the mass and the first measurement of the natural width of this state. We have also measured the ratioσ(pp→Ξ∗0bX)B(Ξ∗0b→Ξ−bπ+)σ(pp→Ξ−bX)=0.27±0.03(stat)±0.01(syst)

Thyrotoxic hypokalaemic periodic paralysis in a Turkish population: three new case reports and analysis of the case series

Objective Thyrotoxic hypokalaemic periodic paralysis (THPP) is an uncommon condition with intermittent episodes of muscle weakness and occasionally severe paralysis. THPP is a common complication of hyperthyroidism in Asian populations, and has also been reported in other ethnic groups including Caucasians. This study aimed to conduct an analysis of THPP in a Turkish population, and is to our knowledge the first analysis of a homogeneous Caucasian group
