    Study the rate of fertility and risk factors of schizophrenia in Najaf, Iraq

    This study is designed to investigate the main risk factors, which increased the incidence of schizophrenia and the rate of fertility in patients measuring sex hormones (testosterone and estrogen) and prolactin hormone. The aim of study was to evaluate the fertility rate and risk factors of schizophrenia. Blood samples were collected for measuring the hormones from 108 individual divided groups: Patients’ group that contain 78 patients and a control group, which included 30 healthy persons. The results showed that schizophrenia was higher in male than female. Tobacco smoking and family history have significantly risk for most patients which lived in urban areas. There was statistical significance (P ≤ 0.05) in the testosterone hormones between patients group and control group. It is concluded that patients were suffering from hypogonadism, in contrasts with the prolactin hormone, which has been indicated significant increasing of schizophrenia.Keywords: Schizophrenic Disorders, Fertility Determinants, Sex Steroid Hormones, Tobacco Smokin

    Study the role of Estradiol and Luteinizing hormones in breast tumors incidence in the women in Al-Najaf Governorate- Iraq

    This study aims to illustration the role of some important risk factors which including age, age at menarche , menopausal status, the levels of estradiol(E2) and luteinizing hormones(LH) in the increasing breast tumors incidence by using 120 women, divided into three groups; control group including forty healthy women, benign group containing forty women with breast benign tumor and malignant group of forty women with malignant breast tumor, this last group subdivided into; malignant presurgery and malignant post surgery groups each one contain twenty women.    The results showed that benign breast tumors are  more common in women with interval age 31-40 years whereas malignant breast tumors were more common in women with interval age 41-50 years. Early age at menarche wasn’t significantly associated with increasing breast cancer incidence, contrariwise menopausal status which was significantly associated with increasing this disease .   The results revealed a significant elevation P? 0.05 in the levels of estradiol E2, and Luteinizing hormones in the women with breast cancer before tumor excision and reduction in the levels of these hormones in the women after tumor excision indicating the role of these hormones in the initiation or promotion breast cancer. In conclusion, this study revealed that breast cancer incidence increased in women in forties and fifties of age and increasing the levels of endogenous hormones such as Estradiol, and luteinizing hormones can increased risk of developing breast cancer especially in postmenopausal women.     Study The Effects Of Chronic Kidney Disease On The Level Of Thyroid Hormones In Iraqi Patients

    Chronic kidney disease is consider to be a major health issue which affecting high percent of population worldwide. This study attempted to determine the effects of chronic kidney disease on the function of thyroid gland by measuring its hormones levels . There were 70 subjects included in this study their age between 20 to 70 years divided into two groups, patients and control groups each one contain 35 persons. Blood was obtained from the all subjects for measuring the levels of thyroid hormones . There was increasing in the incidence of chronic kidney disease in the fifties of age as the results of this study revealed. The levels of thyroid hormones recorded significantly P≤0.05 decreasing in patients with chronic kidney disease when compared with healthy persons. For conclude, chronic kidney disease leads to significant changes in the levels of thyroid    hormones that need to be carefully interpreted in these patients
