    Adaptation of the Spatial Pattern of a Settlement to Disaster in Simeulue Regency, Aceh Province

    This study aims to find out how the spatial pattern of settlements in disaster areas adapt to earthquake and tsunami disaster in Simeulue Regency, Aceh Province. The research used a qualitative approach and descriptive method Data collection technique used literature study and field observation., Data analysis used the Delphi method. The study result showed that the influential factors that save many Simeulue people from earthquake and tsunami disaster occurred on Sunday, 26 December 2004 is the spatial pattern of settlement which is very suitable to tsunami disasters such as geographical condition in the form of the pattern of human settlements, vegetation formation, condition of topography and morphology. The geographical condition was beneficial where people can save themselves to highland when a tsunami occurs. The implication of the spatial pattern of settlement in Simeulue Regency is very friendly for tsunami disaster mitigation.     Keywords: Spatial Pattern of Settlement, Disaster Adaptatio

    NILAI KEARIFAN LOKAL SMONG DALAM MITIGASI BENCANA TSUNAMI DI KABUPATEN SIMEULUE PROVINSI ACEH

    Pada saat terjadi tsunami 26 Desember 2004, jumlah korban jiwa yang meninggal di Provinsi Aceh daratan 300.000 jiwa sedangkan di Simeulue hanya 7 orang, hal ini diduga karena ada kearifan lokal pada masyarakat Simeulue. Riset ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap bentuk kearifan lokal smong dalam masyarakat Simeulue. Pendekatan kualitatif yang bersifat verifikatif digunakan untuk menguji kemampuan dalam bentuk deskripsi. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipatori, studi dokumentasi dan studi kepustakaan. Teknik analisis data menggunakan metode delphi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kearifan lokal smong merupakan sistem peringatan dini tsunami yang diimplementasikan masyarakat Simeulue melalui manafi-nafi (cerita rakyat), mananga-nanga (buaian pengantar bayi tidur) dan nandong (senandung). Selain itu, morfologi dan penggunaan lahan seakan sangat mendukung mitigasi terhadap tsunami. Penduduk bermukim di balik bukit dihalangi oleh tumbuhan lebat sebagai pemecah gelombang tsunami. Kearifan lokal smong disosialisasikan melalui papan informasi himbauan-himbauan dan nyanyian yang dicantumkan di produk-produk UKM yang banyak dikonsumsi masyarakat, semua cara tersebut menjadi efektif dalam meningkatkan pengetahuan masyarakat terhadap mitigasi bencana tsunami. Konsistensi pemerintah dalam sosialisasi smong perlu diintensifkan kepada generasi muda agar kearifan lokal smong tidak hilang di dalam masyarakat Simeulue.---- When tsunami occurred in 26th December 2004, the number of people who died in land Aceh Province were 300.000 people whereas in Simeulue only 7 people who died. It is supposed that there is local wisdom in Simeulue community. The study is aimed to reveal the form of local wisdom smong in Simeulue community. The verification qualitative approach is used to test the ability descriptively. Data collection technique used in-depth interview, participatory observation, documentary study and literature study. Data analysis technique used Delphi method. The result of study showed that the local wisdom smong is tsunami early warning system which is implemented by Simeulue community through manafi-nafi (folkfore), mananga-nanga (cradlesong to lull a baby to sleep), and nandong (humming). Besides, morphology and the land use very support the mitigation toward tsunami. The people who live behind the hill are protected by lush vegetation as tsunami breakwater. The local wisdom smong is socialized through appeal information boards and songs included in UKM products which much consumed by community. All these ways become effective in increasing the community’s knowledge of tsunami disaster mitigation. The government consistency to socialize smong need to be intensified to young generation in order that the local wisdom smong is not disappeared in Simeulue community

    The Development of Settlement in the Tsunami Red Zone Area of Banda Aceh City

    This study aims to describe the rapid growth of settlement development in the red zone, Banda Aceh City. The qualitative descriptive of the method used in this study, and data collection through literature study for secondary data. Primary data gathered from observation and interview toward some developers of housing located in the red zone of tsunami’s impact, Banda Aceh City. Finally, data analysis using the Delphi method. The study result showed various main reasons for the rapid growth in the development of settlement in that area. The Banda Aceh city government needs to have strict standards in building permits for red-zone tsunami area. The red-zone area has stated in ”Qanun Kota Banda Aceh No. 2 Tahun 2018” including nine districts. This rule has not been adequately enforced. This can be seen from the growth of residential housing in the tsunami red-zone area that grew rapidly after 13 years of tsunami occurred.     Keywords: Development of Settlement, Tsunami Red Zon

    KELAYAKAN KAWASAN PANTAI LHOK PUUK KECAMATAN SEUNUDDON KABUPATEN ACEH UTARA SEBAGAI DESTINASI WISATA ALAM

    Kawasan Pantai Lhok Puuk merupakan salah satu kawasan objek wisata pantai yang terletak di Kecamatan Seunuddon Kabupaten Aceh Utara. Semenjak masyarakat mulai membangun objek wisata pantai, jumlah pengunjung mulai mengalami peningkatan, bahkan pengunjung yang datang tidak hanya dari dalam kabupaten melainkan juga dari luar kabupaten. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana kelayakan kawasan Pantai Lhok Puuk sebagai destinasi wisata alam. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui kelayakan kawasan Pantai Lhok Puuk sebagai destinasi wisata alam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi yang digunakan adalah populasi wilayah dan populasi manusia.Teknik pengumpulan data terdiri dari studi literatur, observasi dan angket. Hasil penelitian ini adalah kawasan Pantai Lhok Puuk termasuk dalam kategori layak sebagai destinasi wisata alam.     Persepsi Masyarakat Terhadap Pengembangan Objek Wisata Pemandian Alam Lau Timah Di Desa Renun Kecamatan Tanah Pinem Kabupaten Dairi Sumatera Utara

    Pemandian alam Lau Timah adalah salah satu objek wisata di Kabupaten Dairi. Sebagai objek wisata yang baru potensi objek wisata pemandian alam Lau Timah belum sepenuhnya dikenal oleh masyarakat luas sehingga perlu diadakan pengembangan objek wisata. Adapun rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimanakah persepsi masyarakat terhadap pengembangan objek wisata pemandian alam Lau Timah di Desa Renun Kecamatan Tanah Pinem Kabupaten Dairi Sumatera Utara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi masyarakat terhadap pengembangan objek wisata pemandian alam Lau Timah di Desa Renun Kecamatan Tanah Pinem Kabupaten Dairi Sumatera Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif untuk mendeskripsikan persepsi masyarakat Desa Renun terhadap pengembangan objek wisata pemandian alam Lau Timah. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah masyarakat Desa Renun dengan jumlah 976 jiwa. Peneliti memilih sampel sebanyak 43 orang yaitu masyarakat Desa Renun, dengan menggunakan teknik Purposive Sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menyebarkan angket. Data diolah dengan menggunakan statistik deskriptif sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada umumnya masyarakat Desa Renun sangat mengingikan pengembangan objek wisata pemandian alam Lau Timah

    Inovasi Pembelajaran Geografi Untuk Materi Penginderaan Jauh di Sekolah Menengah Atas

    Abstrak Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk memberikan solusi yang dapat dilakukan oleh guru mata pelajaran geografi di SMA/MA, sehingga mampu menjawab berbagai permasalahan yang sama terjadi di seluruh Indonesia, pada saat proses pembelajaran materi penginderaan jauh. Artikel ini merupakan tinjauan literatur dari berbagai sumber ilmiah. Hasil penelitian yaitu pembelajaran penginderaan jauh di tingkat SMA/MA memerlukan suatu inovasi sehingga mempermudah guru dalam menyampaikan materi, terdapat dua cara yang disarankan yaitu pertama, cara tradisional terdiri dari field trip/outdoor study dan proyek interpretasi citra. Kedua, cara modern yaitu dapat menggunakan software, dan dapat menggunakan drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV). Intinya, guru dituntut kreatif, melek teknologi dan mampu memanfaatkan lingkungan sebagai sumber belajar. Kedua inovasi di atas memfasilitasi guru untuk melakukan pembelajaran dengan menggunakan media interaktif, sehingga meningkatkan minat peserta didik dan memperbaiki kualitas pembelajaran dalam materi penginderaan jauh pada mata pelajaran geografi SMA/MA. Abstract The purpose of this study is to provide solutions that can be done by geography subject teachers in SMA/MA, so that they are able to answer the same problems that occur throughout Indonesia, during the learning process of remote sensing material. This article is a literature review from various scientific sources. The result of the study is that remote sensing learning at the SMA/MA level requires an innovation to make it easier for teachers to deliver the material, there are two suggested ways: first, the conventional method consists of a field trip/outdoor study and an image interpretation project. Second, the modern way is to be able to use software, and can use drone (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV) (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV) (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle/UAV). In essence, teachers are required to be creative, technologically literate and able to utilize the environment as a learning resource. The two innovations above facilitate teachers to carry out learning using interactive media, thereby increasing student interest and improving the quality of learning in remote sensing material in high school/MA geography subjects.  

    The Role of Teachers in Building Character Caring for the Environment for Students of SMPIT Nurul Fikri Boarding School Aceh

    Teachers have an important role in shaping the character of students. So the purpose of this study is to (1) determine the role of teachers in building character, (2) determine the level of environmental care for students. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method. The entire research population was 25 teachers and 267 students in grades VII-IX. Sampling with random sampling technique. Data were collected by distributing questionnaires to respondents. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical percentage formula. The results of data processing obtained: from 25 teachers, it is known that 2 respondents (8%) in very high category, 6 respondents (24%) in high category, 12 respondents (48%) in medium category, 1 respondent (4%) in low category, and 4 respondents (16%) are very low, so that the teacher's role in the formation of environmental character is the largest in the category. (2) Of the 50 students, 6 respondents (12%) were in the very high category, 7 respondents (14%) were in the high category, 22 respondents (44%) were in the medium category, 12 respondents (24%) were in the low category, and 3 respondents (6%) ) ) category is very low, so that the main environmental care level is in the medium category

    Improving Critical Thinking Skills OF High School Students Through Gamification-Based Learning Media Development

    This study aims to develop gamification-based learning media and test the effectiveness of the media on students' critical thinking skills. This study uses the Research and Development methodology, the ADDIE development model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation). The subjects of this research trial were class X geography students at the Pasanggaran High School in East Java, which consisted of an experimental class and a control class. Sampling using a purposive sampling technique. The type of data used is quantitative data. Collecting data using questionnaires and tests using descriptive analysis techniques. The respondent's due diligence resulted in 8326 and has been validated. The results showed that the use of gamification-based learning media had a positive effect on students’ critical thinking skills using sig. 0.000 0.05. Thus, gamification-based learning media is feasible to use and influences students' critical thinking skills

    The Identification Misconception in Geography Learning During Covid-19 Pandemic Using Three-Tier Diagnostic Test

    Online learning during covid-19 pandemic is the first experience for most teachers and students in Aceh. This study aims to find out how the level of geographical concepts understanding during online learning in Aceh, Indonesia through threetier diagnostic test. After knowing the concepts students find difficult as well as their difficulties in understanding those concepts, as long-term goal online learning method which is effective and innovative will be developed to enhance the level of geographical concepts understanding and to avoid misconception in students. This study uses quantitative approach. The object of study were students of class XI and XII with the total of 131 students come from 19 school in Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar. Data collection instrument used was test in the form of three-tier diagnostic test given online through google forms. Data analysis was carried out by analyzing the combination of answers using three-level multiple choice. The results showed indicated that the percentage of students who understand concept was 6.2%, do not understand concept were 78.50%, misconception was 3.18% and error was 2.12%. Based on the result of study it can be concluded that most respondents were in the category of do not understand the concept
