In their article Teaching Digital Humanities in Romania Mădălina Nicolaescu and Adriana Mihai describe a research project that sets out to promote digital humanities with an internet based platform in Shakespeare studies at the University of Bucharest. Texts have been collected and catalogued and the platform\u27s technical construction is in construction. Based on the Shakespeare platform\u27s content and presentation, Nicolaescu and Mihai propose participation strategies for involvement in the creation of a digital database that is both a research tool and a digital storytelling environment. The database is a collection of digitized translations of Shakespeare in Romanian followed by participants\u27 input in the form of critical and creative work which allows users to interact in the platform, expand its metadata, and produce multilinear narratives of interpretation

Helsinki corridors : ways of European expansion and development

Efficient distribution of human and goods transport has always been an important element in maintaining the economic systems cohesion. Together with the economic and technological development, the purposes to attain this goal have considerably evolved. The integration of the Centre, Eastern and South-Eastern European countries’ infrastructure in the European transport networks has as a main goal the promotion of networks’ interconnection and interoperability. This is done through concentrating upon some specific infrastructure routes located on the trajectory of 10 pan-European transport corridors, which pass through geographical zones in many countries, some of them EU members, and others undergoing a process of negotiation (Turkey). Pan-European Corridors will have immediate effects like: the growth of investments in infrastructure thanks to European funds – for developing countries, this will represent an important part as it welcomes a development of the economy, especially in crises; the favouring of conditions for the functioning and administration of globalization; the growth of cooperation both among Eastern countries and between such countries and Western countries; conditions for the recovery of economic differences between West and East; conditions for the recovery of the development in accordance with the policy of European countries and other candidate countries.peer-reviewe

The Role of the Educational Program in Reducing the Child's Anxiety at the Dentist

The objective of the study was to create and implement an educational program with the aim of reducing children's anxiety at the dentist. In carrying out this study, it started from the hypothesis that the implementation of an educational program can lead to a decrease in the level of dental anxiety among children. The sample included 196 children (experimental group of 95 children and control group of 101 children), primary school pupils. The methods used were the questionnaire, PowerPoint presentations, semi-structured interview, demonstration and exercise. The educational program was structured in the form of twelve PowerPoint presentations, focusing on three important themes. These were: the importance of oral hygiene, methods and techniques used for good oral hygiene and the role of nutrition in maintaining healthy teeth. A questionnaire was applied and saliva was taken to determine immunoglobulin A, both at the beginning and at the end of the study. In the case of the experimental group, there were statistically significant differences between the initial and final results both following the application of the questionnaire and in terms of immunoglobulin A levels (p<0.05). There were no statistically significant differences in the control group (p>0.05). Following the interpretation of the results, the hypothesis was confirmed according to which the implementation of an educational program can lead to a decrease in the level of dental anxiety in children

Iodine Doped Graphene for Enhanced Electrocatalytic Oxygen Reduction Reaction in PEM Fuel Cell Applications

    Get PDF
Although doped graphene based materials have been intensively investigated, as electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR), there is still a number of challenges to be explored in order to design a highly active, durable, thermodynamically stable and low-cost catalyst with full recognized technological importance. The application of iodine-doped graphene in fuel cells (FC) has been recently examined as innovative nanomaterial for cathode fabrication. Up to date microscopic and spectroscopic techniques have been combined with structural and electrochemical investigations for a compendious characterization of developed ORR catalysts. The unique structure of doped graphenes is ascertained by the presence of mesopores, vacancies and high surface area, and favors the ions/electrons transportation at nanometric scale. The chapter discusses (a) how to use the existing knowledge in respect to synthesized doped graphenes and (b) how to improve the FC by taking into account these materials and have an enhanced electrochemical performance as well as long-term durability
