Comment on 'Quantum inversion of cold atoms in a microcavity: spatial dependence'
In a recent work, Abdel-Aty and Obada [2002 J. Phys. B 35 807-813] analyzed
the quantum inversion of cold atoms in a microcavity, the motion of the atoms
being described quantum mechanically. Two-level atoms were assumed to interact
with a single mode of the cavity, and the off-resonance case was considered
(namely the atomic transition frequency is detuned from the single mode cavity
frequency). We demonstrate in this paper that this case is incorrectly treated
by these authors and we question therefore their conclusions.Comment: 4 pages, no figure
Recurrence Relations for Moments of Dual Generalized Order Statistics from Weibull Gamma Distribution and Its Characterizations
In this paper, we establish explicit forms and new recurrence relations satisfied by the single and product moments of dual generalized order statistics from Weibull gamma distribution (WGD). The results include as particular cases the relations for moments of reversed order statistics and lower records. We present characterizations ofWGD based on (i) recurrence relation for single moments, (ii) truncated moments of certain function of the variable and (iii) hazrad function
Delayed creation of entanglement in superconducting qubits interacting with a microwave field
We explore the role played by the intrinsic decoherence in superconducting charge qubits in the presence of a microwave field applied as a magnetic flux. We study how the delayed creation of entanglement, which is opposite to the sudden death of entanglement, can be induced. We compute the time evolution of the population inversion, total correlation and entanglement, taking into account the junction mixed state and dissipation of the cavity field. We show that although decoherence destroys the correlation of the junction and field, information of the initial state may be obtained via quasi-probability distribution functions
Generation of three-qubit entangled states using coupled multi-quantum dots
We discuss a mechanism for generating a maximum entangled state (GHZ) in a
coupled quantum dots system, based on analytical techniques. The reliable
generation of such states is crucial for implementing solid-state based quantum
information schemes. The signature originates from a remarkably weak field
pulse or a far off-resonance effects which could be implemented using
technology that is currently being developed. The results are illustrated with
an application to a specific wide-gap semiconductor quantum dots system, like
Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) based quantum dots.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure
