Corruption crimes that occur in Indonesia are still a serious problem that can result in losses to state finances that can affect the country's ability to fulfill the rights of its people. The process of recovering state financial losses on the one hand is part of the examination of criminal cases as in the case of additional crimes is of course very effective, but in certain cases as stipulated in Article 32 paragraph (1) (2), Article 33, Article 34 and Article 38 C It is no longer possible to carry out the criminal process under the Corruption Crime Law, so in this case the civil law enforcement process needs to be upheld even though it has to go a long way as a lawsuit in the civil procedural law stipulated in the HIR and Rbg.The Attorney General's Office as the State Attorney General has the authority to file civil lawsuits for state losses resulting from the actions of the perpetrators of corruption against their heirs. For the effectiveness of the civil lawsuit process regulated in the HIR and Rbg in terms of recovering state losses, it is deemed necessary for the Supreme Court to respond by making complementary rules to the formal law in accordance with the principle of justice that is carried out quickly, simply and at low cost as stipulated in the Law. Losses to brand rights that other parties use as a domain name to gain profit from the fame of a brand, resulting in the term brand piracy through a domain name. Cybersquatting is an act of brand piracy through domain names, parties who hijack or create domain names by imitating famous brand names and then resell them to other parties. For companies that already have a good reputation and are known in the wider community, this is certainly very disturbing, because this is related to the company's big name and good name. Settlement of trademark rights used by other parties as domain names is resolved through litigation through a court institution. Litigation dispute resolution is regulated in Law Number 15 of 2001 concerning Trademarks from Article 76 to Article 83, while nonlitigation dispute resolution is dispute resolution outside of court, such as through alternative dispute resolution or arbitration. Kata Kunci : Gugatan, Permohonan dan Pengadilan  AbstrackA lawsuit is a claim of rights submitted by the plaintiff to the defendant through the court. There are at least 2 (two) or more parties who defend their rights in a civil procedural lawsuit, namely the plaintiff and the defendant. The lawsuit is made because the defendant has violated the rights and obligations that harm the plaintiff. There are 2 (two) types of lawsuits, namely voluntary and contentious. Voluntary lawsuits or so-called requests are made on the basis of the interests of one party only without any element of dispute. A contentious lawsuit is a lawsuit for a problem that is submitted where the parties are at least 2 (two) people and have an element of dispute. Many legal problems occur in the community, where a lawsuit or application can be submitted to the court, but many people do not know and understand the stages in submitting the application or lawsuit to the court. Likewise, many community members who live in Ara Payung Village, Pantai Cermin District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, do not understand how to file a lawsuit in court. Several civil issues such as divorce, default, determination of heirs and others that occurred in Ara Payung Village were carried out under the hands or resolved by deliberation together with village officials. However, there are still community members who are not satisfied with the results of the deliberation, because they feel that it is not in accordance with their wishes, so that community members want to take legal action. However, to take legal action to court, they do not understand how or the stages. Based on this fact, it encourages extension workers to carry out Legal Counseling with the Community Service model entitled Stages of Filing a Lawsuit at the District Court, in Ara Payung Village, Perbaungan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Keywords: Lawsuit, Application and Cour

IntroductionSince the COVID-19 pandemic began, it has spread rapidly across the world and has resulted in recurrent outbreaks. This study aims to describe the COVID-19 epidemiology in terms of COVID-19 cases, deaths, ICU admissions, ventilator requirements, testing, incidence rate, death rate, case fatality rate (CFR) and test positivity rate for each outbreak from the beginning of the pandemic in 2020 till endemicity of COVID-19 in 2022 in Malaysia.MethodsData was sourced from the GitHub repository and the Ministry of Health’s official COVID-19 website. The study period was from the beginning of the outbreak in Malaysia, which began during Epidemiological Week (Ep Wk) 4 in 2020, to the last Ep Wk 18 in 2022. Data were aggregated by Ep Wk and analyzed in terms of COVID-19 cases, deaths, ICU admissions, ventilator requirements, testing, incidence rate, death rate, case fatality rate (CFR) and test positivity rate by years (2020 and 2022) and for each outbreak of COVID-19.ResultsA total of 4,456,736 cases, 35,579 deaths and 58,906,954 COVID-19 tests were reported for the period from 2020 to 2022. The COVID-19 incidence rate, death rate, CFR and test positivity rate were reported at 1.085 and 0.009 per 1,000 populations, 0.80 and 7.57%, respectively, for the period from 2020 to 2022. Higher cases, deaths, testing, incidence/death rate, CFR and test positivity rates were reported in 2021 and during the Delta outbreak. This is evident by the highest number of COVID-19 cases, ICU admissions, ventilatory requirements and deaths observed during the Delta outbreak.ConclusionThe Delta outbreak was the most severe compared to other outbreaks in Malaysia’s study period. In addition, this study provides evidence that outbreaks of COVID-19, which are caused by highly virulent and transmissible variants, tend to be more severe and devastating if these outbreaks are not controlled early on. Therefore, close monitoring of key epidemiological indicators, as reported in this study, is essential in the control and management of future COVID-19 outbreaks in Malaysia

An overview of the utilisation of microalgae biomass derived from nutrient recycling of wet market wastewater and slaughterhouse wastewater

    Get PDF
Microalgae have high nutritional values for aquatic organisms compared to fish meal, because microalgae cells are rich in proteins, lipids, and carbohydrates. However, the high cost for the commercial production of microalgae biomass using fresh water or artificial media limits its use as fish feed. Few studies have investigated the potential of wet market wastewater and slaughterhouse wastewater for the production of microalgae biomass. Hence, this study aims to highlight the potential of these types of wastewater as an alternative superior medium for microalgae biomass as they contain high levels of nutrients required for microalgae growth. This paper focuses on the benefits of microalgae biomass produced during the phycore-mediation of wet market wastewater and slaughterhouse wastewater as fish feed. The extraction techniques for lipids and proteins as well as the studies conducted on the use of microalgae biomass as fish feed were reviewed. The results showed that microalgae biomass can be used as fish feed due to feed utilisation efficiency, physiological activity, increased resistance for several diseases, improved stress response, and improved protein retention

    Get PDF
BackgroundGlobally, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected the transmission dynamics and distribution of dengue. Therefore, this study aims to describe the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the geographic and demographic distribution of dengue incidence in Malaysia.MethodsThis study analyzed dengue cases from January 2014 to December 2021 and COVID-19 confirmed cases from January 2020 to December 2021 which was divided into the pre (2014 to 2019) and during COVID-19 pandemic (2020 to 2021) phases. The average annual dengue case incidence for geographical and demographic subgroups were calculated and compared between the pre and during the COVID-19 pandemic phases. In addition, Spearman rank correlation was performed to determine the correlation between weekly dengue and COVID-19 cases during the COVID-19 pandemic phase.ResultsDengue trends in Malaysia showed a 4-year cyclical trend with dengue case incidence peaking in 2015 and 2019 and subsequently decreasing in the following years. Reductions of 44.0% in average dengue cases during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic phase was observed at the national level. Higher dengue cases were reported among males, individuals aged 20–34 years, and Malaysians across both phases. Weekly dengue cases were significantly correlated (ρ = −0.901) with COVID-19 cases during the COVID-19 pandemic.ConclusionThere was a reduction in dengue incidence during the COVID-19 pandemic compared to the pre-pandemic phase. Significant reductions were observed across all demographic groups except for the older population (>75 years) across the two phases

Prognostic model to predict postoperative acute kidney injury in patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery based on a national prospective observational cohort study.

    Get PDF
Background: Acute illness, existing co-morbidities and surgical stress response can all contribute to postoperative acute kidney injury (AKI) in patients undergoing major gastrointestinal surgery. The aim of this study was prospectively to develop a pragmatic prognostic model to stratify patients according to risk of developing AKI after major gastrointestinal surgery. Methods: This prospective multicentre cohort study included consecutive adults undergoing elective or emergency gastrointestinal resection, liver resection or stoma reversal in 2-week blocks over a continuous 3-month period. The primary outcome was the rate of AKI within 7 days of surgery. Bootstrap stability was used to select clinically plausible risk factors into the model. Internal model validation was carried out by bootstrap validation. Results: A total of 4544 patients were included across 173 centres in the UK and Ireland. The overall rate of AKI was 14·2 per cent (646 of 4544) and the 30-day mortality rate was 1·8 per cent (84 of 4544). Stage 1 AKI was significantly associated with 30-day mortality (unadjusted odds ratio 7·61, 95 per cent c.i. 4·49 to 12·90; P < 0·001), with increasing odds of death with each AKI stage. Six variables were selected for inclusion in the prognostic model: age, sex, ASA grade, preoperative estimated glomerular filtration rate, planned open surgery and preoperative use of either an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor or an angiotensin receptor blocker. Internal validation demonstrated good model discrimination (c-statistic 0·65). Discussion: Following major gastrointestinal surgery, AKI occurred in one in seven patients. This preoperative prognostic model identified patients at high risk of postoperative AKI. Validation in an independent data set is required to ensure generalizability
