Jordan has enlisted Norwegian People\u27s Aid to help the Royal Engineering Corps meet its deadline. Surveys have been completed and suspected hazardous areas have been significantly reduced. NPA is continuing to demine areas with the help of mine-detecting dogs and a MineWolf machine. The overall goal is to clear the land to allow agriculture and industry to return to areas currently inaccessible due to the threat of landmines

The study was conducted in the fall of 2010 and spring of 2011. The themes found in this study were flexibility, transportation, communication, and technical support. Furthermore, the study found some of the advantages for students taking online courses as well as some obstacles encountered by students on the reservation

    Does silage containing plantain affect the urination behaviour and urinary nitrogen of dry cows grazing diverse or conventional pasture?

    The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of diverse silage containing plantain on urination behaviour and urinary and faecal nitrogen (N) concentration of dairy cows when grazing standard ryegrass-white clover (RGWC) or diverse pasture containing plantain. Four groups of six non-lactating dairy cows were balanced and randomly assigned to one of four dietary treatments in a 2 Ă— 2 factorial design: RGWC pasture plus RGWC silage; RGWC pasture plus diverse silage containing plantain; diverse pasture plus RGWC silage; diverse pasture plus diverse silage. Urination behaviour (frequency and volume) was continuously measured for a minimum of 24 hours on four cows per treatment using the Lincoln University PEETER V1.0 sensor. There was no silage or silage Ă— pasture type interaction effects on urination behaviour, though diverse pasture regardless of silage increased daily urination frequency (p=0.046) and daily urine volume (p=0.003) of cows by 27% and 31% respectively, compared to RGWC. Spot urine N% concentration was similar among treatments, but faecal N% tended (p=0.07) to be higher in cows grazing diverse pasture compared to those grazing RGWC with no silage type effect. Unlike fresh plantain, silage containing plantain does not seem to alter urination behaviour or N excretion of dairy cattle

    The Ultima TPS MoM THR was designed and developed as a 2nd generation MoM THR specifically aimed at younger more active patients due to the anticipated low wear rates and increased longevity of MoM THRs. In 2010, published clinical data highlighted the early failure of the Ultima TPS MoM due to fretting-crevice corrosion at the stem-cement interface. Since 2010 similar observations have been reported by other clinical centres implicating competitor products as well as the Ultima TPS MoM THR. In an attempt to replicate the electrochemical reaction and interactions established across MoM THR systems, fretting-crevice corrosion tests subjected to galvanic coupling were conducted. Galvanic coupling was seen to significantly increase the rates of corrosion under static and dynamic conditions. This was due to the large potential differences developed across the system between active and passive areas, increasing the rates of corrosion and metallic ion release from the stem-cement interface

    SNARE phosphorylation: a control mechanism for insulin-stimulated glucose transport and other regulated exocytic events

    Trafficking within eukaryotic cells is a complex and highly regulated process; events such as recycling of plasma membrane receptors, formation of multivesicular bodies, regulated release of hormones and delivery of proteins to membranes all require directionality and specificity. The underpinning processes, including cargo selection, membrane fusion, trafficking flow and timing, are controlled by a variety of molecular mechanisms and engage multiple families of lipids and proteins. Here, we will focus on control of trafficking processes via the action of the SNARE (soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor) family of proteins, in particular their regulation by phosphorylation. We will describe how these proteins are controlled in a range of regulated trafficking events, with particular emphasis on the insulin-stimulated delivery of glucose transporters to the surface of adipose and muscle cells. Here, we focus on a few examples of SNARE phosphorylation which exemplify distinct ways in which SNARE machinery phosphorylation may regulate membrane fusion

    Effect of farm system and milk urea phenotype on milk yield and milk composition of dairy cows in Canterbury

    To investigate the effect of farm system, and cow selection for milk urea nitrogen (MUN), on milk yield and milk composition, a farmlet study was carried out between October 2018 and May 2019 in Lincoln, Canterbury. A farm system with a low stocking rate and low N fertiliser input (LSR, 2.9 cows/ha) sown with a conventional ryegrass clover and plantain diverse pastures was compared with a farm system with a moderate stocking rate and moderate N fertiliser (MSR, 3.9 cows/ha) using conventional ryegrass and white clover pastures and supplementing 3 kg DM/cow/d as crushed barley grain. Each farmlet had total herd size of 40 mixed-age HF x J spring-calving dairy cows which included six cows selected solely for a high MUN or a low MUN. There was no effect of farm system on milk fat, protein or lactose content but MUN was lower in LSR compared with MSR. Milk production was also lower for LSR (466 vs 429±12.4 kg MS/cow/ha, P<0.05), owing to poorer quality diet in mid lactation. Cows selected for low MUN tended to produce less milk compared with high MUN cows (4478 vs 3987±174 kg/cow, P<0.10) though this was partially offset by increased protein content in milk of low MUN cows. Farm system and animal selection for MUN have a greater impact on milk yield than on milk composition

    Experiences of Inpatient Bone Marrow Transplantation Nurses and Providers Using Electronic Symptom Reporting

    Purpose To investigate the use of electronic patient-reported outcomes (PROs) to assess symptoms and how they can provide opportunities to clinicians to address symptoms in a timely manner to improve clinical care. As part of a larger study to evaluate whether providing standardized symptom reports to the medical team would decrease the time to treatment of reported symptoms in hematopoietic stem-cell transplant recipients, we assessed nurses’ and providers’ perceptions of electronic symptom reporting. Methods Semistructured interviews of RNs, MDs, NPs and PAs were conducted at an academic cancer center in the southeastern United States. Nurses’ and providers’ perceptions of electronic symptom reporting were explored. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed, and coded by two investigators to identify major themes. Results Fourteen RNs and seven providers (MDs, PAs, and NPs) participated in the interviews. Three main themes emerged from the interviews: electronic symptom reporting may improve assessment and care, integrating symptom reporting into nurse workflow presents difficulties, and there are barriers for completion of surveys. Conclusion The majority of nurses and providers believed that the inclusion of electronic symptom reporting in bone marrow transplantation inpatient units has the potential to improve care but that barriers to implementation remain

    Covariant derivative of the curvature tensor of pseudo-K\"ahlerian manifolds

    It is well known that the curvature tensor of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold can be decomposed with respect to the pseudo-orthogonal group into the sum of the Weyl conformal curvature tensor, the traceless part of the Ricci tensor and of the scalar curvature. A similar decomposition with respect to the pseudo-unitary group exists on a pseudo-K\"ahlerian manifold; instead of the Weyl tensor one obtains the Bochner tensor. In the present paper, the known decomposition with respect to the pseudo-orthogonal group of the covariant derivative of the curvature tensor of a pseudo-Riemannian manifold is refined. A decomposition with respect to the pseudo-unitary group of the covariant derivative of the curvature tensor for pseudo-K\"ahlerian manifolds is obtained. This defines natural classes of spaces generalizing locally symmetric spaces and Einstein spaces. It is shown that the values of the covariant derivative of the curvature tensor for a non-locally symmetric pseudo-Riemannian manifold with an irreducible connected holonomy group different from the pseudo-orthogonal and pseudo-unitary groups belong to an irreducible module of the holonomy group.Comment: the final version accepted to Annals of Global Analysis and Geometr
