    Humanitarian meaning of university professional education

    In the 20th century, the university faced a principally new type of cultural development and there was a necessity of transformation to get adapted to new conditions. Change of cultural epochs lead to a change in criteria and principles conditioning the university education system. Largely it affected β€œexternally invisible and inaudible” factor, β€œthe fluid of spiritual life” of the university, β€œhuman immaterial sub-basis” of its existence (Jaspers, 2006) - its humanitarian meaning. This can nowadays indicate that existence of the university is challenged

    The authors examine the essence of professional competencies determined by the modern development of higher education on the basis of analysis of their integrative nature, essence and peculiarities. It reveals the nature of the integration of personality-oriented and professional knowledge of the control and its role in the competence formation. It reveals the importance of the integrative nature of the educational process in improving the education system. In the paper, the researchers point out modular training that enables the identification of the objectives and procedures of examination, assessment of the educational process. The researchers also showed that the subjects serve as a methodological basis, serve as a guide in the educational space. It is concluded that the use of technology of bringing together the practice and theoretical education, the formation of a practice-oriented training induces a change in the methodology and content of disciplines

    Background: In the paper the Idea of the University and its transformations throughout the history are analysed. The content of the Idea of the University was based on understanding of spirituality when the man is upcoming to enlightening. Religion, philosophy, and education get together, when spirituality is defined as the categories and personal characteristics of a human. According to philosophy, spirituality is a non-physical way of a human being, which was granted to him as the ability of self-education. Religion understands spirituality as invariant of enlightening. The scientific-methodical apparatus of education was created to realize the potential ways for raising a person to enlightening in secular or religious schools. The spiritual aura was constantly presented at the University. Methods: A general philosophical approach and comparative historical method were used in the research. Results: Understanding the role of spirituality in the University education was absolutely manifested. The University was based on the idea of going up from individual towards the Universal Truth and Absolute Spirit. Knowledge and Truth are ideological categories of the University. Truth contained the spirituality and rational knowledge in the unity. Conclusions: The University has not lost its Idea throughout the history. The basic conclusion of the paper is that its Idea as well as its essence is the change of its criteria in response to the new historical reality

    Background: The crisis that the modern university is experiencing today, is conditioned by the crisis of its idea as of a classical essence. The idea of university was formulated by W. von Humboldt, however, its history starts with the Greek-Roman era when the ancient philosophy in its cognitive attitude to the world saw its truth, leaning on intelligence that brought it to the harmony of beauty and good. In this quality, the idea of university was changing the university history. However, today, by rejecting any natural unity and integrity and also reconsidering classics, the postmodern views diversify the classical university and eliminate the possibility of its common form. Questions arise: can the common idea for the university be preserved in these conditions? Will it be preserved (and should it be preserved) by the postmodern culture? Is it possible today to have the unity of the university as a classical social and educational institution? Do modern university models (entrepreneurial, corporate, research, etc.) have their own idea

    The authors examine the role of interdisciplinary competences in the development of higher education on the basis of the analysis of their integrative nature, nature and characteristics. The role of monitoring and indicators in the assessment of students’ knowledge obtained through the use of interdisciplinary competences is revealed. The importance of interdisciplinary models by identifying the stages of implementation of practice-oriented communicative approach in teaching is exposed. The problems of interdisciplinary competences are discussed in the context of forming tolerance and minimizing risk-taking in society. Against the backdrop of youth's problems the issue of educational reform is put forward and solved from the perspective of interdisciplinary, systematic, integrity. The corporate culture aimed towards shaping of the professional and the person who is relevant to the modern knowledge society. Therefore, the modern Research University continues the traditional Idea of the Classical University in conditions of information (knowledge) society. Secondly, new strategy for the management of education in the Research University is the knowledge management. Thirdly, the corporate culture of the Research University can join complementarily the classical criteria of University and modern orientation to the market and commercialization of education. The specific content of the corporate culture as a new criterion of the University is relevant to the conditions of information or knowledge society.     Objective: to determine, study and systematize methods of forming and maintaining an attractive brand of a Humanities research organizations under the present conditions in Russia.Methods: abstract-logical.Results: the article analyzes the value of information on scientific research results and the mechanisms of its propagation under the conditions of reducing the financing of scientific organizations. The problem is establishing relationships of Humanities research organizations with potential users. It is shown that the solution to this problem may be found in the formation of a positive image of a research organization in the form of a brand that can ensure effective dissemination of information about the achievements of the research organizations and possible ways of their commercial applications in the practical work of production and educational institutions.The article studies the approaches to definition of a research organization brand, including the notions of authority and reputation; based on them, the author’s approach to this term is formulated. It is shown that a significant role in the formation of the brand is played by infocommunicational environment, which is a necessary condition for the formation of the positive image of a research organization. The concept of target audience of a research organization is defined; its segmentation is carried out into several groups according to types of interaction, types of cooperation and the expected results of partnership. The ways are identified to attract attention of the target audience, as well as the principles of interaction with other research organizations and potential consumers of research results. Recommendations on brand development of a research organization are formulated, on the basis of temporal and spatial approach.Scientific novelty: the paper for the first time presents the structure of the target audience of the brand of a research organization in sociological and humanitarian sphere; modern tools are considered aimed at positioning research organizations in the scientific, business, and other environments.Practical significance: the obtained results can be applied in the practical work of research organizations functioning under the conditions of significant reduction of state support, for the search of additional sources of research funding in the long term
