Festuca trichophylla (Ducros ex Gaudin) K. Richter (Poaceae) in the flora of Croatia
The occurrence of Festuca trichophylla subsp. trichophylla in the flora of Croatia is confirmed. In June 1999 a small population was found on the edge of Čepić polje, near the village of Šušnjevica (Istria) growing on a relatively moist calcareous meadow belonging to the order Scorzoneretalia. The soil is weakly basiphillous with high amount of CaCO3. According to the present state of knowledge the species could be treated as critically endangered
Što se krije iza imena Festuca arvernensis Auquier, Kerguélen & Markgr.-Dannenb. u »Index Florae Croaticae»?
Why the species Festuca arvernensis, endemic to S. C. and S. W. France, is quoted in the Index Florae Croaticae and in the Flora Croatica database is discussed. It is shown that the name was wrongly used for the endemic Illyrian-Adriatic species Festuca lapidosa.U članku se raspravlja o razlogu zašto je vrsta Festuca arvernensis, endemična za južne dijelove središnje Francuske, te za jugozapad Francuske, uključena u »Index Florae Croaticae« i u »Flora Croatica database«.
Festuca hercegovinica Markgr.-Dannenb. (Poaceae) u hrvatskoj flori
Festuca hercegovinica Markgr.-Dannenb. is an endemic Balkanic species, whose distribution area also encompasses the southernmost parts of Croatia. To date, its localities are known from the surroundings of Dubrovnik, i.e. the Konavle region with Mt Sniježnica and the island of Šipan. The general distribution and taxonomical level of this species are discussed, the general distribution in Croatia is completed, and a determination key for distinction from similar taxa is enclosed.
Sporobolus pungens (Schreber) Kunth (Poaceae), rijetka i ugrožena psamofitska biljna vrsta u Hrvatskoj
Sporobolus pungens (Schreber) Kunth is rare and endangered psammophytic plant species, with four localities in Croatia known to date, all on the central and south Dalmatian islands. In October 2001 a new locality was found on the island of Mljet, in Blaca Bay seashore sands, as a part of the psammo-halophytic community Echinophoro-Elymetum farcti (Ammophilion).Sporobolus pungens (Schreber) Kunth, rijetka i ugrožena psamofitska biljna vrsta, dosad je bila poznata s četiri nalazišta u Hrvatskoj na srednjodalmatinskim i južnodalmatinskim otocima.
Contributions to the bryophyte flora of croatia III. Plitvička jezera National Park and adjacent areas
Bryological fi eld surveys in Plitvička jezera National Park and adjacent areas (Slunjčica river and
Vrhovinsko polje karst fi eld) carried out in 2012 and 2013 resulted in a list of 207 species (39 liverworts
and 168 mosses). Two species are reported for the fi rst time from Croatia (Ephemerum minutissimum and Pohlia annotina). Six species are included in the Red data book of European
bryophytes (Buxbaumia viridis, Dicranum viride, Hamatocaulis vernicosus, Anomodon rostratus,Rhynchostegiella tenuicaulis and Taxiphyllum densifolium). The first three are listed in the Bern Convention and the EU Habitats and Species Directive as well; in addition, other species, especially Sphagnum spp. rare in SE Europe were also located in the area
Stipetum novakii ass. nova – a new association of serpentine rocky grassland vegetation (Halacsyetalia sendtneri) in Serbia
Phytosociological characteristics of grassland communities above serpentines (order Halacsyetalia sendtneri H. Ritter-Studni~ka 1970) in Serbia, are analyzed according to Braun-Blanquet methodology. In order to detect the basic floristic differentiation of analyzed communities ordinary correspondence analysiswas applied. Cluster analysis was also performed to see the structure and separation of the communities based on the floristic composition. In order to determine diagnostic species, fidelity indices with presence/ absence data and the size of all groups standardized to equal size were calculated. The new association Stipetum novakii is described in open rocky serpentine grasslands in Brdjani Gorge
REPRODUCTIVE PERFORMANCE OF HARES (Lepus europaeus) IN SELECTED FARMS IN CROATIA
The research on indicators of reproduction efficiency of brown hares in cage breeding in Croatia was conducted from 2001 to 2004. There were 107 pairs included in the research during their first reproductive season. Breeding farms were located in two different climatic areas: breeding farm Volavje (continental Croatia) and Valtura-Vodnjan (Istria). On average there were 24.70 to 25.37% non-productive pairs per year. Considerably larger number of litters per pair was achieved in Valtura-Vodnjan breeding farms (5 litters compared to 4.6 in Volavje farm, p<0.05). The number of leverets per pair was 11.27 (Volavje) and 11.34 (Valtura-Vodnjan). The average litter size ranged from 2.41 (Volavje) to 2.59 leverets (Valtura-Vodnjan). Season had a significant influence on litter size in both breeding farms (p<0.01). There was no significant difference in the number of weaned hares per litter in both farms (1.61-1.68). Total leveret mortality on average ranged from 36.59 to 37.83% depending on the locality. Most deaths occurred before weaning
