Some specific problems of gene resources conservation in the case of fungi

    Get PDF
Decrease of fungi in Europe has been fundamentally caused by decrease of appropriate habitats. The problems concerning necessity of fungi protection an d some practical difficulties are discussed in the paper. The list of species under the law protection since 1983 is given. At present the red list of threatened macromycetes is in the course of elaboration.Zadanie pt. Mushrooms as an element of attraction in the recreation areas

    Get PDF
Mushroom hunting is one of the most popular forms of leisure in Poland. It plays a role in the economy: over 10 thousand ton of fresh weight and about 300 ton of dry weight of edible mushrooms come into the market every year. But apart of the economy this is very important for people's recreation although it brings a serious problem for nature protection. The specific problems of mushroom hunting recreation as well as the dangers for people and for nature are discussed.Zadanie pt. „Digitalizacja i udostępnienie w Cyfrowym Repozytorium Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego kolekcji czasopism naukowych wydawanych przez Uniwersytet Łódzki” nr 885/P-DUN/2014 dofinansowane zostało ze środków MNiSW w ramach działalności upowszechniającej naukę

Main problems connccted with conservation of plant gene resources in natural conditions „in situ"

Conservation in situ is, for many reasons, the most important means of maintaining gene resources of wild plants. Forms of this conservation must be constantly improved and increasingly more diversified, and their effectiveness carefully supervised. The authors discuss the problem of the conservation object and aim, criteria and strategy of choise, scope of plant diversity, which should be encompassed by conservation measures, and against this background they evaluate the role of nature reserves in protection of gene resources.Zadanie pt. Tuber rufum Pico: Fr., T. ferrugineum Vittad., T. maculatum Vittad. and T. fulgens Quél. have been identified among hypogeous fungi occurring together with T. mesentericum in natural sites in the Cze¸ stochowa region (S Poland). All these species have been recorded in this locality for the first time; T. ferrugineum and T. fulgens are new to Poland. Descriptions of the materials collected, scanning electron micrographs of spores, as well as comments on chorology of the species are provided in the paper.

Revised data on the occurrence of myxomycetes in Central Poland

    Get PDF
A checklist of 81 taxa has been prepared on the basis of 750 exsiccates of slime moulds collected in the years 1958-2009 in the area of Central Poland and preserved in the Herbarium LOD F. All these materials were reexamined according to contemporary literature. The paper summarizes the existing data concerning the occurrence of slime moulds in this area. Among the identified taxa there are four species indicated in the red list in Poland: Badhamia affinis, Physarum robustum, Didymium leptotrichum, and Clastoderma debaryanum

Octaviania asterosperma (hypogeous Basidiomycota). Recent data to ecology and distribution

    Get PDF
Phylogenetic analyses place Octaviania asterosperma in the Boletales, with Leccinum being the closest relative. Results of the structural investigation of O. asterosperma ectomycorrhiza with Fagus sylvatica confirm this systematic position. In Europe the species is an ectomycorrhizal partner of broad-leaved trees, such as Carpinus, Corylus, Fagus, Quercus and Tilia. This paper aims at presenting the new data to the distribution of O. asterosperma in Central Europe. The description of the basidiocarps discovered in Poland in the recent years is also given, together with evidence for the parasitic relationship of Sepedonium laevigatum with O. asterosperma. We also present the information concerning all known localities of the species in Poland and its distribution map. Data on the ecologz, distribution and status O. asterosperma in Europe, and some structural aspects of basidiocarps and spores, are also summarized

New localities of Chamonixia caespitosa (hypogeous Boletaceae) in Central Europe

Chamonixia caespitosa Rolland, has been recently found in Poland for the first time after 1945. The basidiocarps, partially exposed from the humus layer, were found in two localities: in the spruce forest in the Polish Tatra Mts., at the elevation of 1540 m a.s.l., and in the mixed forest with spruce and fir in the Beskid Niski Mts. at the elevation of app. 400 m a.s.l. The description of the Polish specimens generally agrees with descriptions of the specimens found in other Central European countries. The roundish to tuberculate basidiocarps were characterized by the presence of highly reduced stipe, whitish colour of the peridium changing rapidly to blue after exposure to air, small, complete or incomplete columella and brown, spongy gleba. Typically 4-spored basidia were present which produced ellipsoid, brown spores with the ornamentation in the form of rough, interconnected ridges. Taxonomic position, ecology and chorology of the species, the ontogeny of basidiocarps and description of ectomycorrhizae are summarized in the paper

    The Data Mining OPtimization Ontology

    Get PDF
The Data Mining OPtimization Ontology (DMOP) has been developed to support informed decision-making at various choice points of the data mining process. The ontology can be used by data miners and deployed in ontology-driven information systems. The primary purpose for which DMOP has been developed is the automation of algorithm and model selection through semantic meta-mining that makes use of an ontology-based meta-analysis of complete data mining processes in view of extracting patterns associated with mining performance. To this end, DMOP contains detailed descriptions of data mining tasks (e.g., learning, feature selection), data, algorithms, hypotheses such as mined models or patterns, and workflows. A development methodology was used for DMOP, including items such as competency questions and foundational ontology reuse. Several non-trivial modeling problems were encountered and due to the complexity of the data mining details, the ontology requires the use of the OWL 2 DL profile. DMOP was successfully evaluated for semantic meta-mining and used in constructing the Intelligent Discovery Assistant, deployed at the popular data mining environment RapidMiner
