DESCRIPTION OF SURFACE STRUCTURE OF EGGS AND FIRST INSTAR LARVAE OF AGAPANTHIA OSMANLIS REICHE & SULCY (COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE): BASED ON SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY
Morphology of eggs and first instar larvae of Agapanthia osmanlis Reiche & Saulcy, 1858 (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) are described for the first time, with illustrations of the structural features obtained using light and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). A. osmanlis feeds only on hosts in the Dipsacaceae family and collected on Cephalaria procera Fish & Lall. (Dipsacaceae) from Bayburt (Kop Mountain Pass, Turkey). The female lays single eggs inside the stalks of C. procera, where the larva feeds internally. The egg is cylindrical, white, dorsally wide, narrower toward the front and back, and rounded anteriorly and posteriorly. The egg is 3.10-3.80 (3.35) mm long and 0.45-0.85 (0.58) mm wide. Under the dissection microscope, the chorion appears to be smooth, but in scanning electron microscope (SEM) magnifications, the chorion is covered with chorionic spines except for the anterior micropylar region. Each egg possesses a knob-like micropylar process at one end. Newly emerged larvae of A. osmanlis are cylindrical, C-shaped after leaving their galleries, whitish-grey, and legless
On the Male and Female Genital Structures of Phyllobius (Metaphyllobius) glaucus (Scopoli, 1763) (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Phyllobinii) from Turkey
Abstract: Several structures of the male genitalia (tegmen, parameres, manubrium, endophallus), and ninth abdominal sternite (spiculum gastrale) as well as the female genitalia (genital spicule and eight sternite, ovipositor, and spermatheca) of Phyllobius (Metaphyllobius) glaucus are described and illustrated for the first time as they are useful for separating P. glaucus from other congenerics
THE BUPRESTIDS AND THE ELATERIDS (COLEOPTERA) OF THE BOLKAR MOUNTAINS
Bu çalışmada 2005–2007 yılları Nisan-Ağustos ayları arasında Bolkar Dağları;
In this study, 21 770 specimens collected from the Bolkar Mountains placed in
the provinces İçel (Tarsus, Çamlıyayla, Erdemli, Silifke, Mut), Adana (Pozantı),
Niğde (Ulukışla), Karaman (Merkez ve Ayrancı), Konya (Ereğli, Halkapınar)
between the years 2005-2007 from April to August were evaluated. The
collected specimens were identified considering the morphological features,
besides the genital structures were used in the identification of some species. As
a result, 11 subfamilies, 24 genera, 112 species and subspecies belonging to the
family Buprestidae were determined. Among these, the species Scintillatrix dives
is the new record for Turkey. 6 genera and 36 species belonging to the family
Buprestidae are new records for the studied area. 5 subfamilies, 18 genera and
37 species belonging to the family Elateridae were determined. Among these, 4
genus and 11 species are new records for the studied area. The locality data,
collecting methods, distribution in the world and Turkey, photos and
distribution maps in studying area of determined totally 149 species and
subspecies belonging to 42 genera were presented
Türkiye’deki Rhagonycha fulva (Scopoli, 1763) (Coleoptera: Cantharidae)’nın karyolojisi, erkek genitali ve yayılışı üzerine notlar
Several revisions on the cantharid taxonomy have been reported as yet. These revisions have highlighted the need for further studies in the family. Taxonomic tools such as cytogenetics and genitalia morphology may contribute to clarify the relationships among the species. Thus, the present paper deals with the karyotype and the male genitalia of Rhagonycha fulva (Scopoli, 1763). The diploid chromosome number was found to be 2n?=13 (6+X0). The chromosomal finding is essentially identical to the results reported previously for Rhagonycha fulva. In addition, the male genital morphology and the distribution map in Turkey are given.
