RELIABILITY ANALYSIS FOR EVALUATING SKILLS IN PEDIATRIC BASIC LIFE SUPPORT PERFORMANCE

Amaç: Tıp Fakültesi öğrencilerinin mesleksel becerilerinin değerlendirilmesindekullanılan ölçme değerlendirme yöntemlerinin geçerli ve güvenilir olması önemlidir.DEÜ Tıp Fakültesi Mesleksel Beceriler Komitesi tarafından hazırlanmış olan 25puanlı Pediyatrik Temel Yaşam Desteği (Pediyatrik TYD) ölçeği (25 PÖ) ve 35puanlı 5\'li Likert tipi ölçek (35 PLÖ) kullanılarak gerçekleştirilen bu çalışmada,öğrencilerin Pediyatrik TYD uygulama becerilerinin değerlendirilmesinde kullanılanölçekler ve değerlendiriciler arası tutarlılığın ve güvenilirliğin araştırılması amaçlanmıştır.Gereç ve yöntem: Tıp Fakültesi Dönem II öğrencileri (n: 140) I. yarı yıl sonunda ikigrup halinde Pediyatrik TYD beceri sınavına alındı. Her bir grup, biri Anesteziyolojive Reanimasyon Uzmanı, diğeri Mesleksel Beceriler Laboratuvarı Eğiticisi olmaküzere iki kişi tarafından değerlendirildi. Puanlama her bir öğrenci için 25 PÖ ve 35PLÖ ile ayrı ayrı yapıldı. Uygulamanın ardından öğrencilerden de aynı ölçeklere görekendilerine puan vermeleri istendi. Ölçekler ve uzman, eğitici, öğrenci puanlarıarasındaki korelasyon istatistiksel yöntemlerle değerlendirildi.Bulgular: 25 PÖ ve 35 PLÖ iç tutarlılığı sırası ile (Cronbach α) 0,734 ve 0,793bulundu. İki ölçeğin toplam skorları yüksek derecede (r:0,935) tutarlıydı.Değerlendiriciler arası tutarlılık 25 PÖ için, I. grupta r: 0,770, II. grupta r: 0,763; 35PLÖ için I. grupta r: 0,748, II. grupta r: 0,763 bulundu.Sonuç: 25 PÖ ve 35 PLÖ değerlendirme ölçekleri, mezuniyet öncesi eğitimdePediyatrik TYD uygulama becerisini değerlendirmede kullanılabilecek güvenilirölçeklerdir.Objective: The reliability and validity of the assessment methods used in assessmentof Professional Skills of medical students is important. In this study using the 25points scale (25 PS) for evaluating Pediatric Basic Life Support prepared by DEUMedical School Professional Skills Committee and the 35 points 5 point Likert typescale (35 PLS), it was aimed to investigate reliability and consistency between examiners and the scales used inevaluation of performance ofmedical students in Pediatric BasicLife Support (Pediatric BLS). Material and method: Year II medical students (n: 140) participated in thePediatric BLS skills examination in two groups at the end of the first term. ThePediatric BLS skills of each group were assessed by two examiners, oneAnesthesiology and Reanimation specialist and by a trainer from the ProfessionalSkills Laboratory. For each student scoring was performed using both the 25 PS and35 PLS. Following completetion of the assessment, students were asked to scorethemselves using the same scales. Correlation between the scales and the specialist,trainer and the student scores were evaluated using statistical methods.Results: The internal consistency of 25 PS and 35 PLS were (Cronbach α) 0.734 and0.793 respectively. The total scores for the two scales were correlated significantly(r:0.935). The consistency among the examiners were r: 0.770 in the first group andr: 0.763 in the second group for 25 PS; and r: 0.748 in the first group, and r: 0.763in the second group for 35 PLS.Conclusion: 25 PS and 35 PLS evaluation scales are considered to be reliablestudent evaluation scales to be used in assessment of Pediatric BLS skills inundergraduate medical education
