Light Gluino And Tevatroin Dijet Angular Distributions
We consider the effects of a light gluino on the dijet angular distributions
in p - pbar collisions at sqrt(s)=1800 GeV. We show that the slower running of
alpha_s and the production q qbar, g g -> Gino Gino do not significantly alter
the expected angular distributions. On the other hand, single U, D squark
production q g -> Q Gino with subsequent Q -> q g results in dijets whose
angular distributions are dramatically different from that in SM. The CDF data
on dijet angular distributions with integrated luminosity of 106 pb^(-1)
exclude U, D squarks in the mass ranges 170 < m < 650 and 190 < m < 600 GeV, We
consider lower energies as well and show that in a future experimental analysis
for dijet mass below 240 GeV squarks could be observed or ruled out.Comment: 10 pages, LaTeX with 2 epsf figure
Remote sensing and interdisciplinary approach for studying Dubai’s urban context and development
Outlining the different phases and features of the urban and socio-economic development of Dubai, this work is aimed at highlighting the potential of remote sensing and the interdisciplinary approach for the study of cities characterised by overwhelming growth processes. In this way Dubai represents an ideal laboratory since the processes that have been triggered in the last decades have radically modified the previous balances and layouts. Thus the image of a mirage city has been gradually diffused, a city where ambitious objectives can be achieved, targets reached that are difficult to pursue elsewhere, frenetic development processes realised, in a nevertheless increasingly delicate territorial-environmental fabric onto which such phenomena are grafted. The analysis of various remote sensed images, gathered over different periods of times, highlights a number of important aspects from the geological point of view, of the physical geography, the urban development and the direct growth in all directions, with a series of artificial islands and much publicised anthropic works
Effective theories of electroweak symmetry breaking
We present a brief review of recent attempts to construct effective theories
to describe the breaking of the electroweak symmetry in extensions of the
Standard Model with new strongly interacting dynamics around the TeV scale.
Particular attention is devoted to the analogies of Higgsless models with
Chiral Perturbation Theory (the low-energy limit of QCD).Comment: 12 pages, invited talk at the 6th International Workshop on Chiral

The Challenges of Flavour Physics
The open problems and the most recent developments in flavour physics are
briefly reviewed. Particular attention is devoted to the current "anomalies" in
the CKM picture and their possible interpretation in beyond-the-Standard-Model
frameworks.Comment: 13 pages, plenary talk at ICHEP 2010 (Paris, July 22-28, 2010). V2: A

On the construction of group invariant non expansive operators
NASTRAN as a resource in code development
A case history is presented in which the NASTRAN system provided both guidelines and working software for use in the development of a discrete element program, PATCHES-111. To avoid duplication and to take advantage of the wide spread user familiarity with NASTRAN, the PATCHES-111 system uses NASTRAN bulk data syntax, NASTRAN matrix utilities, and the NASTRAN linkage editor. Problems in developing the program are discussed along with details on the architecture of the PATCHES-111 parametric cubic modeling system. The system includes model construction procedures, checkpoint/restart strategies, and other features
