Selected models of re-education in institutional care for an at-risk child from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in the context of contemporary Czech etopedic practice: historical-pedagogical inquiry

Disertační práce formou kvalitativního historicko-pedagogického výzkumu sleduje vývoj institucionální převýchovné péče o dítě se zaměřením na fungování osmi inovativních projektů vzniklých na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Snaží se také zaznamenat inspirační přesahy popsaných projektů v kontextu současné české etopedické praxe. Vymezené historické období totiž bylo v etopedické péči otevřené všem druhům experimentů nadšených reformátorů na evropském a americkém kontinentu. Ohlédnutí se do minulosti a popsání řešení témat objevujících se v minulosti tak může přispět k aktuální diskusi o efektivní formě institucionální převýchovné péče o dítě v České republice. Práce navíc zprostředkovává lepší porozumění fungování převýchovných modelů, jimž se ostatní studie v českém akademickém prostředí věnují velmi okrajově. Disertační práce popisuje a přibližuje fungování Junior Republic (USA), Ford Republic (USA), Little Commonwealth (Velká Británie), Baumgarten (Rakousko), Boys Town (USA), Domu sirotků (Polsko), Kolonie Gorkého (Sovětský svaz) a Summerhillu (Velká Británie). Předložený výzkum k dosažení cílů využívá v metodologii kombinaci přímé metody a vícečetné případové studie opírající se o soubor primárních dat (dobové spisy, články, monografická literární díla účastníků projektů). Témata, která se objevila...The dissertation, in the form of qualitative historical research, follows the development of institutional care for at-risk children. The focus is on a detailed description of eight innovative projects created at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It stresses the inspirational overlapping of the described projects in the context of contemporary Czech etopedic practice. This historical period was chosen as it was a time of all kinds of experiments. Looking back and describing successful solutions to care issues in the past can contribute to the current discussion on the effective form of institutional care in Czechia. The dissertation focuses on Junior Republic (USA), Ford Republic (USA), Little Commonwealth (UK), Baumgarten (Austria), Boys Town (USA), House of Orphans (Poland), Gorky Colony (Soviet Union), and Summerhill (Great Britain) - as these models are only briefly described in Czech scholarly literature. To achieve its goals the research relies on the combination of a direct method and a multiple case study. For triangulation, various primary data sources are used. Research on Teaching and Learning In Biology, Chemistry and Physics In ESERA 2013 Conference

This paper provides an overview of the topics in educational research that were published in the ESERA 2013 conference proceedings. The aim of the research was to identify what aspects of the teacher-student-content interaction were investigated frequently and what have been studied rarely. We used the categorization system developed by Kinnunen, Lampiselkä, Malmi and Meisalo (2016) and altogether 184 articles were analyzed. The analysis focused on secondary and tertiary level biology, chemistry, physics, and science education. The results showed that most of the studies focus on either the teacher’s pedagogical actions or on the student - content relationship. All other aspects were studied considerably less. For example, the teachers’ thoughts about the students’ perceptions and attitudes towards the goals and the content, and the teachers’ conceptions of the students’ actions towards achieving the goals were studied only rarely. Discussion about the scope and the coverage of the research in science education in Europe is needed.Peer reviewe
