Preface to the JOT special issue on ECOOP 2021: selected workshop papers

T In this preface, the editors present an overview of the topics and scope of the ECOOP workshops on ContextOriented Programming (COP), on Implementation, Compilation, Optimization of OO Languages, Programs and Systems (ICOOOLPS), and on Verification and Monitoring at Runtime Execution (VORTEX). They further describe the editorial and reviewing process for their editions at ECOOP 2021. The papers selected for publication are presented and briefly described

Pragmatismo e pragmatica

This is a preface to the contributions gathered in the issue. They are the outcome of two workshops held at the University of Trieste in 2014 and 2015 on the subject of pragmatics and pragmatism. Besides the obvious lexical affinity, pragmatics and pragmatism share the basic belief that practice and human action play a crucial role in the explanation of meaning and truth, but also in the solution of ethical questions, etc. The text highlights some philosophical questions related to these fields of research

Agricultural Best Management Practices and Treatment Wetlands in the Gabilan Watershed: Project Asessment and Evaluation Plan

Several local groups have come together for this project to addresses water quality concerns in the Gabilan Watershed – also known as the Reclamation Ditch Watershed (Fig. 1.1). These are Moss Landing Marine Laboratories (MLML), the Resource Conservation District of Monterey County (RCDMC), Central Coast Watershed Studies (CCoWS), Return of the Natives (RON), Community Alliance with Family Farmers (CAFF), and Coastal Conservation and Research (CC&R). The primary goal is to reduce non-point source pollution – particularly suspended sediment, nutrients, and pesticides – and thereby improve near-shore coastal waters of Moss Landing Harbor and the Monterey Bay.
