Die Anpassung allgemeiner Managementprinzipien auf den Wissenschaftsbereich hat in den vergangenen Jahren das Berufsbild des Wissenschaftsmanagers hervor gebracht. Dieser Berufszweig versteht sich als Schnittstelle zwischen Verwaltung und Wissenschaft und muß sich wie jeder andere auch mit aktuellen technologischen Trends wie der Entwicklung von Web 2.0-Werkzeugen und deren Verbreitung in unterschiedliche gesellschaftliche Bereiche auseinandersetzen. Der vorliegende Beitrag zeigt zunächst die Bedingungen, Potenziale und Grenzen des Einsatzes von Web 2.0 im Wissenschaftsmanagement als einem hierarchisch geprägten und wenig Technik affinen Bereich auf und verdeutlicht die Thesen anhand eines aktuellen Anwendungsbeispiels der Gerda Henkel Stiftung

Open Innovation in Libraries

Open innovation means the participation of an institution’s stakeholders (customers, suppliers, competitors, etc.) in its innovation processes. With the advent of the knowledge society, the role of libraries is deeply changing towards digital libraries, special services, and the provision of spaces. However, how should libraries realize such knowledge and innovation projects? Concerning libraries, open innovation integrates the views of users (as customers), software houses or design companies (as suppliers) as well as other libraries (as competitors) into the development strategy of a library. Innovation processes include information inflows and information outflows. In this paper, a theoretical model of open innovation in the context of the library institution is presented. We describe results of a survey and introduce paradigmatic case studies of libraries, which deployed open innovation and networked governance. Ein Überblick über Open Access Geschäftsmodelle mit besonderem Fokus auf profitorientierte Verlage

Open Access ist inzwischen auch für große Verlage wie Springer oder Wiley ein Thema. Da immer mehr wissenschaftliche Publikationen als Open Access veröffentlicht werden, müssen die Verlage handeln und sich mit den neuen Bedingungen auseinandersetzen. Es haben sich bereits viele unterschiedliche Geschäftsmodelle im Bereich der Open Access Publikationen entwickelt und etabliert. Die folgende Arbeit wird einen Überblick über die momentan gebräuchlichen Geschäftsmodelle wieder geben, aktuelle Entwicklungen schildern und sich mit den Open Access-Geschäftsmodellen einzelner Verlage genauer beschäftigen.Open Access has already become an interesting target for publishers like Springer or Wiley. Libraries and their Role in Open Access: Challenges and Opportunities

The open access movement gains momentum with an increasing number of institutions and funders adopting open access mandates for their funded research. Consequently, an increasing amount of material becomes freely available, either from institutional repositories or from traditional or newly established journals. Libraries can play a dual role in supporting this movement: Firstly, they can provide services supporting the deposit of research output in their institutional repositories, including support for making it widely discoverable via indexes such as Google Scholar and library discovery systems. Secondly, libraries can make open access materials discoverable by their patrons through such indexes, thus expanding their collection to include materials that they would not necessarily license. This session will describe the experience of the University Libraries of Liège in Belgium and Harvard. University of Liège chose a top-down approach and made it compulsory for researchers to deposit their output in the institutional repository—ORBi. To support this mandate, the library offers services that help researchers deposit and disseminate their publications. Both libraries—Liège and Harvard—enable their students and faculty to discover open access content beyond their library’s acquired collection via their library discovery system. The session will also address challenges that arise from indexing open access publications and how index providers and libraries can deal with such publications, especially with articles that are deposited in different institutional repositories or published in so-called hybrid journals that contain a mix of open access and subscription articles. Finally, we will discuss with the audience how they see libraries’ role evolving in this area, what challenges they are currently facing, and the solutions and opportunities they have found

Repositorien und Forschungsinformationssysteme bilden keine Dichotomie

Dieser Beitrag zeichnet gemeinsame Entwicklungslinien von Forschungsinformationssystemen und Repositorien nach. Beide Systemwelten haben sich zunächst unabhängig voneinander entwickelt, was ihrer Verankerung in unterschiedlichen Verwaltungseinheiten wissenschaftlicher Einrichtungen geschuldet ist. Im Zuge von Open Access und Open Science, sowie steigenden Anforderungen an die Forschungsberichterstattung haben sich mehr und mehr Schnittmengen ergeben. In dessen Folge treiben Initiativen auf europäischer und nationaler Ebene die Konvergenz und Integration über Grundsatzvereinbarungen, Roadmaps, Leitlinien und Implementierungen beider Systemwelten voran.This article traces common lines of development of research information systems and repositories. Both system worlds initially developed independently of each other, which is due to their anchoring in different administrative units of academic institutions. In the course of Open Access and Open Science, as well as increasing demands on research reporting, more and more intersections have emerged. As a result, initiatives at the European and national levels are driving convergence and integration through fundamental agreements, roadmaps, guidelines and implementations of both system worlds.Peer Reviewe

Mediennutzung Studierender: über den Umgang mit Medien in hochschulischen Kontexten - Systematisches Review nationaler und internationaler Studien zur Mediennutzung Studierender

Das vorliegende systematische Review nimmt - ausgehend vom BMBF-geförderten Verbundforschungsprojekt "You(r) Study" - Forschungsarbeiten zur Mediennutzung Studierender in den Blick. Dabei sollen zunächst (1) allgemeine Studien zur Mediennutzung Studierender sowie einschlägige internationale Studien vorgestellt werden. Des Weiteren sollen (2) Medien(Nutzer)typologien vergleichend auf ihre Aussagekraft hinsichtlich des studentischen Medienhandelns analysiert werden. Schließlich sollen zwei als zentral identifizierte Diskurse der Mediennutzung - Mobile Technologien (3) und Soziale Medien (4) - näher betrachtet werden.
