    Persistency of the organization, competitive advantage and realization of extra profit, in contemporary environment, are directly connected with balance of the resources available to the firm. One of the key issues of successful business is human resource management and that process is under great influence of modern information technology. Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) are systems used to collect, record, store, analyze and retrieve data concerning an organization’s human resources, but it is not merely reduction of administrative procedures. The importance of HRIS system is multifaceted, ranging from operational assistance in collecting, storing and preparing data for reports, simplifying and accelerating the processes and controlling the available data, reducing labour costs for HR departments, and providing timely and diverse information to the management of the company, based on which it is possible to make quality strategic decisions related to human capital. The aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of HRIS and to give a comprehensive insight of the subject. Special focus in the paper will be on companies in Serbia, which have started to apply this concept, but in most situations not widely, but just partially.     The report provides a framework that categorises the different European Union (EU) policies, laws and governance actions identified as impacting upon food value chains in the defined areas of: fairer trading practices, food integrity (food safety and authenticity), and sustainability collaborations along food value chains. A four-stage framework is presented and illustrated with examples. The evidence shows that European Union policy activity impacting upon food value chain dynamics is increasing, both in terms of the impacts of policies upon the chains, and, in terms of addressing some of the more contentious outcomes of these dynamics. A number of policy priorities are at play in addressing the outcomes of food value chain dynamics. unevenness of the distribution of profit within food value chains, notably to farmers. Regulation of food safety and aspects of authenticity has been a key focus for two decades to ensure a functioning single market while ensuring consumer health and wellbeing. A food chain length perspective has been attempted, notably through regulations such as the General Food Law, and the rationalisation of the Official Controls on food and feed safety. However, there are still gaps in the effective monitoring and transparency of food safety and of food integrity along value chains, as exemplified by misleading claims and criminal fraud. This has led to renewed policy actions over food fraud, in particular. EU regulations, policies and related governance initiatives provide an important framework for national-level actions for EU member states and for EEA members. The more tightly EU-regulated areas, such as food safety, see fewer extra initiatives, but where there is a more general strategic policy and governance push, such as food waste reduction or food fraud, there is greater independent state-level activity. Likewise, there is much more variation in the application of both national and European (Competition) law to govern unfair trading practices impacting upon food value chains. This report presents the findings of a survey of members from the VALUMICS stakeholder platform, that were policy facing food value chain stakeholders across selected European countries, including both EU and EEA Member States. The survey was conducted to check the significance of the main policies identified in the mapping exercise at EU and national levels and so to incorporate the views of stakeholders in the research. The responses suggest the policy concerns identified in EU and national-level research resonate with food value chain stakeholders in participating nations. The report concludes by exploring in more detail how the themes of fairness and of transparency are being handled in the policy activities presented. Highlighted are the ways that both fairness and transparency can be extended within the existing frameworks of EU policy activity. The findings in this report provide an important context for further and detailed research analysis of the workings and dynamics of European food value chains under the VALUMICS project

    Managing Environmental, Health, and Safety Risks: A Comparative Assessment of the Minerals Management Service and Other Agencies

    This study compares and contrasts regulatory and related practices—in particular, regulatory decisionmaking, risk assessment and planning processes, inspection and compliance, and organization structure, budgets, and training—of the Minerals Management Service (MMS, now the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement, or BOEMRE) with those of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Comparing MMS practices with those of other federal agencies that also manage low-probability but high-consequence environmental risks provides a basis for identifying opportunities for enhancing regulatory capacity and safety performance in managing deepwater energy exploration and production. Our research finds important differences in processes for setting standards; peer review contribution to the rulemaking process; establishment of tolerable risk thresholds; and training of key staff. The paper concludes with several recommendations for how various EPA and FAA practices might be modified and used at BOEMRE to strengthen its regulatory and risk management processes.Minerals Management Service, Federal Aviation Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, risk management

    Dissertation presented as the partial requirement for obtaining a Master's degree in Information Management, specialization in Information Systems and Technologies ManagementThis research aims to create a framework that helps SMEs mitigate the various risks of cyberspace. In this digital era, the dangers of cyberspace are increasing, which leads to the need for organizations to adopt adequate security measures capable of preventing cyberattacks. However, a large number of employees in SMEs do not know how to act to mitigate the risks already mentioned. Thus, the development of a security toolbox could be a solution to help SMEs be less exposed to the dangers of cyberspace. For this research, a theoretical overview associated with cybersecurity to understand the current state of security solutions and the different control options in the organizational environment was essential. Last but not least, a clear understanding of the SMEs needs, in the area of security, was also crucial in the development and construction of the proposed artifact. To evaluate and validate the security toolbox, focus group meetings will be scheduled. The implementation of a security toolbox that helps SMEs to identify, protect, respond and recover from potential cyberattacks, may be relevant and can provide great results for different organizational environments to mitigate the risks of cyberspace. The suggested framework would play an important role, to the users of the security Toolbox to get more know-how to protect the business environment. Also, may be seen as a vantage to the science since will help to develop the research related to improving the techniques and tools disposal to mitigate the high risks of cyberspace
