Semiparametric Bayesian models for human brain mapping
Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) has led to enormous progress in human brain mapping. Adequate analysis of the massive spatiotemporal data sets generated by this imaging technique, combining parametric and non-parametric components, imposes challenging problems in statistical modelling. Complex hierarchical Bayesian models in combination with computer-intensive Markov chain Monte Carlo inference are promising tools. The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, it provides a review of general semiparametric Bayesian models for the analysis of fMRI data. Most approaches focus on important but separate temporal or spatial aspects of the overall problem, or they proceed by stepwise procedures. Therefore, as a second aim, we suggest a complete spatiotemporal model for analysing fMRI data within a unified semiparametric Bayesian framework. An application to data from a visual stimulation experiment illustrates our approach and demonstrates its computational feasibility
MIMO PID Controller Tuning Method for Quadrotor Based on LQR/LQG Theory
In this work, a new pre-tuning multivariable PID (Proportional Integral Derivative)
controllers method for quadrotors is put forward. A procedure based on LQR/LQG (Linear Quadratic
Regulator/Gaussian) theory is proposed for attitude and altitude control, which suposes a considerable
simplification of the design problem due to only one pretuning parameter being used. With the aim to
analyze the performance and robustness of the proposed method, a non-linear mathematical model of
the DJI-F450 quadrotor is employed, where rotors dynamics, together with sensors drift/bias properties
and noise characteristics of low-cost commercial sensors typically used in this type of applications are
considered. In order to estimate the state vector and compensate bias/drift effects in the measures,
a combination of filtering and data fusion algorithms (Kalman filter and Madgwick algorithm for attitude
estimation) are proposed and implemented. Performance and robustness analysis of the control system
is carried out by employing numerical simulations, which take into account the presence of uncertainty
in the plant model and external disturbances. The obtained results show the proposed controller design
method for multivariable PID controller is robust with respect to: (a) parametric uncertainty in the plant
model, (b) disturbances acting at the plant input, (c) sensors measurement and estimation errors
Robust scheduled control of longitudinal flight with handling quality satisfaction
Classic flight control systems are still widely used in the industry because of acquired experience and good understanding of their structure. Nevertheless, with more stringent constraints, it becomes difficult to easily fulfil all the criteria with these classic control laws.
On the other hand, modern methods can handle many constraints but fail to produce low order controllers. The following methodology proposed in this paper addresses both classic and modern flight control issues, to offer a solution that leverages the strengths of both approaches. First, an H∞ synthesis is performed in order to get controllers which satisfy handling qualities and are robust withrespect to mass and centre of gravity variations. These controllers are then reduced and structured by using robust modal control techniques. In conclusion, a self-scheduling technique is described that will schedule these controllers over the entire flight envelope
