    Forensic Analysis of WhatsApp Messenger on Android Smartphones

    We present the forensic analysis of the artifacts left on Android devices by \textit{WhatsApp Messenger}, the client of the WhatsApp instant messaging system. We provide a complete description of all the artifacts generated by WhatsApp Messenger, we discuss the decoding and the interpretation of each one of them, and we show how they can be correlated together to infer various types of information that cannot be obtained by considering each one of them in isolation. By using the results discussed in this paper, an analyst will be able to reconstruct the list of contacts and the chronology of the messages that have been exchanged by users. Furthermore, thanks to the correlation of multiple artifacts, (s)he will be able to infer information like when a specific contact has been added, to recover deleted contacts and their time of deletion, to determine which messages have been deleted, when these messages have been exchanged, and the users that exchanged them.Comment: (c)2014.     The Use of WhatsApp for Speaking Activities: Teacher’s Voices at Islamic Junior High School

    Background: The form of information technology development that can be used as a learning medium during Covid 19 Pandemic is WhatsApp. This WhatsApp is widely used to communicate, both interpersonal communication and group communication. That’s why teachers’ perceptions on the use of WhatsApp in speaking activities needed to be revealed. Methodology: The qualitative method with a case study research design was used in this study. The participants of this study were two teachers of English taken by using total sampling technique. The data obtained from interview were analysed by using thematic analysis. Findings: It was found that (a) WhatsApp could build the students’ interest towards English; (b) WhatsApp made the teachers easier to share speaking materials by using WhatsApp; (c) WhatsApp made the teachers easier to control the class. Meanwhile, the limitations were found that (d) WhatsApp did not build the students’ confidence in speaking English; (e) WhatsApp did not promote students’ independence in learning speaking; (f) WhatsApp did not create enthusiast atmosphere among students; (g) WhatsApp made the students became less active in learning English; (h) WhatsApp did not make the students pay attention to learning English; and (i) WhatsApp persuaded the students to copy-paste the task. Conclusions: Both benefits and limitations were found on the use WhatsApp in speaking activities of as perceived by the teachers. Originality: This study tries to find out teachers’ perceptions on the use of WhatsApp in speaking activities during COVID-19 Pandemic as never been conducted.     PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL WHATSAPP DI KALANGAN MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI DESAIN KOMUNIKASI VISUAL UNIVERSITAS NEGERI MAKASSAR

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penggunaan media sosial Whatsapp di kalangan mahasiswa program studi desain komunikasi visual universitas negeri makassar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Sumber data penelitian ini adalah Mahasiswa aktif Prodi Desain Komunikasi Visual Universitas Negeri Makassar yang menggunakan aplikasi Whatsapp. Metode pengumpulan data yang di gunakan adalah wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media sosial Whatsapp pada mahasiswa Program Studi Desain Komunikasi Visual menunjukkan bahwa ada beberapa hal yang tampak dari segi penggunaannya  yaitu mulai dari durasi penggunaan media sosial Whatsapp, kemudian situasi dan kondisi atau dalam keadaan tertentu mereka menggunakan media sosial whatsapp, serta pilihan isi media yang digunakan oleh Mahasiswa ketika menggunakan aplikasi Whatsapp. Implikasi dalam penelitian ini adalah hendaknya fitur-fitur yang digunakan saat menggunakan media sosial Whatsapp dapat memberikan  dampak yang positif  bagi mahasiswa terutama berbagi informasi dan berinteraksi; hendaknya mahasiwa lebih bijaksana dalam menggunakan media sosial Whatsapp seperti mampu memilah informasi yang baik; dan sebaiknya ketika menggunakan media sosial Whatsapp sewajarnya saja dan lebih banyak membaca buku
