Regardless of the widespread application of analytics to a variety of business measurements, it is noteworthy that the use of people analytics is still no place close where it could be. The main aim of this study is to examine the perceived meaning and benefits of people analytics in selected South African organisations. People analytics is a burning-fresh topic in HR field aiming at using data to make organisational decisions and little has been done in this area especially in the South African context. The study employed qualitative-exploratory design which comprised of 10 senior HR officers from selected organisations in South Africa. From the findings, it shows that the employment of people analytics in South African context is in its early stage and its conception and repercussions are little understood. In addition, there is an accord on its usefulness, however the workforce analytic skills have found to be the major difficulty to foster its successful implementation and adoption by organisations. Because of its qualitative nature, this study had a limitation that it lack representativeness hence the findings cannot be generalised. Research opportunities for future can be quantitative and longitudinal research to objectively ascertain the extent future employability of people analytics

The following thesis is about questioning how we design game making tools, and how developers may build easier tools to use. It is about the highlighting the inadequacies of current game making programs as well as introducing Goal-Oriented Design as a possible solution. It is also about the processes of digital product development, and reflecting on the necessity for both design and development methods to work cohesively for meaningful results. Interaction Design is in essence the abstracting of key relations that matter to the contextual environment. The result of attempting to tie the Interaction Design principles, Game Design issues together with Software Development practices has led to the production of the User-Centred game engine, PlayBoard

To analyze the application of flipped classroom for the enhancement of the reading skill in senior year EFL students with unfinished schooling at Monseñor Leonidas Proaño Fiscomisional High School in Carchi province during 2021-2022.This research work regarding the application of Flipped Classroom to improve the reading ability in students with unfinished schooling was carried out with the senior year students of the Monseñor Leonidas Proaño Fiscomisional Educational High School PCEI in Carchi Province. This investigation was conducted because the student population of this High School has student lag. The flipped classroom provides the opportunity to work with students with prior preparation at home before arriving to the classroom. The use of technological tools is very important since with this aforementioned teaching method, a lot of the pages, applications and tools that are offered to us online are used, in order to be able to apply within the learning of the second language such as English. Acquiring a second language has become so essential today that this pedagogical model was implemented for students, framed in reading skills and thus, encouraging students to read more in an interactive and attractive way for them. To achieve the proposed objectives, the best methodology according to the student population was implemented. A type 4 mixed methodology was used. In this methodology, the exploratory study was carried out applying the qualitative method and statistical analysis of what was collected through the data collection instruments. These instruments were applied to teachers through the Zoom platform and a survey was applied to the students virtually using Google forms, once the data from the interviews and surveys were collected, the quantitative method was used to tabulate the data and obtain the results. The results evidenced that both teachers and students consider learning a foreign language important and the little importance given to the ability to read within the teaching-learning process. To help students and teachers, a didactic guide was created with strategies focused on the use of the flipped class to improve reading in learning English.Maestrí

Context: Execution logs capture the run-time behavior of software systems. To assist developers in their maintenance tasks, many studies have proposed tools to analyze execution information from logs. However, it is as yet unknown how industry developers use logs in embedded software engineering. Objective: In this study, we aim to understand how developers use logs in an embedded software engineering context. Specifically, we would like to gain insights into the type of logs developers analyze, the purposes for which developers analyze logs, the information developers need from logs and their expectation on tool support. Method: In order to achieve the aim, we conducted these interview studies. First, we interviewed 25 software developers from ASML, which is a leading company in developing lithography machines. This exploratory case study provides the preliminary findings. Next, we validated and refined our findings by conducting a replication study. We involved 14 interviewees from four companies who have different software engineering roles in their daily work. Results: As the result of our first study, we compile a preliminary taxonomy which consists of four types of logs used by developers in practice, 18 purposes of using logs, 13 types of information developers search in logs, 13 challenges faced by developers in log analysis and three suggestions for tool support provided by developers. This taxonomy is refined in the replication study with three additional purposes, one additional information need, four additional challenges and three additional suggestions of tool support. In addition, with these two studies, we observed that text-based editors and self-made scripts are commonly used when it comes to tooling in log analysis practice. As indicated by the interviewees, the development of automatic analysis tools is hindered by the quality of the logs, which further suggests several challenges in log instrumentation and management. Conclusions: Based on our study, we provide suggestions for practitioners on logging practices. We provide implications for tool builders on how to further improve tools based on existing techniques. Finally, we suggest some research directions and studies for researchers to further study software logging.</p
