    PYTHON IMPLEMENTATION OF VISUAL SECRET SHARING SCHEMES

    Visual secret sharing schemes (VSS) represent an important concept of visual cryptography. They permit the sharing of a secret image between multiple participants so that only authorized groups can recover the secret. This paper considers the software implementation of some black-and-white secret images VSS in Python programming language. PIL (Python Imaging Library) provides strong image processing capabilities, making the library suitable for this kind of implementation.     Visual cryptography is a secret sharing scheme for encrypting a secret image, it is a perfectly secure way that allows secret sharing without any cryptographic computation, which is termed as Visual Cryptography Scheme (VCS). In this paper secret image is divided into shares (printed on transparencies), and each share holds some information. At the receiver this shares are merged to obtain the secret information which is revealed without any complex computation. The proposed algorithm is for color host image, divided into three color planes Red, Green, Blue and merged with secret image which is binarized and divided into shares. The decoding requires aligning the result obtained by merging color host image and shares, so as to obtain the secret image

    Informations are being transferred through open channels and the security of those informations has been prime concerns. Apart from many conventional cryptographic schemes, visual cryptographic techniques have also been in use for data and information security. Visual cryptography is a secret sharing scheme as it breaks an original image into image shares such that, when the shares are stacked on one another, a hidden secret image is revealed. The Visual Cryptography Scheme is a secure method that encrypts a secret document or image by breaking it into image shares. A unique property of Visual Cryptography Scheme is that one can visually decode the secret image by superimposing shares without computation. Even to make the visual cryptography image shares more secure, public key encryption scheme is applied. Public key encryption technique makes image shares so secure that it becomes very hard for a third party to decode the secret image information without having required data that is a private key

    The secret sharing is a method to protect confidentiality and integrity of the secret messages by distributing the message shares into several recipients. The secret message could not be revealed unless the recipients exchange and collect shares to reconstruct the actual message. Even though the attacker obtain shares shadow during the share exchange, it would be impossible for the attacker to understand the correct share. There are few algorithms have been developed for secret sharing, e.g. secret splitting, Asmuth-Bloom secret sharing protocol, visual cryptography, etc. There is an unanswered question in this research about which method provides best level of security and efficiency in securing message. In this paper, we evaluate the performance of three methods, i.e. secret splitting, secret sharing, and recursive threshold visual cryptography for handwritten image security in terms of execution time and mean squared error (MSE) simulation. Simulation results show the secret splitting algorithm produces the shortest time of execution. On the other hand, the MSE simulation result that the three methods can reconstruct the original image very well

    Recursive Visual Secret Sharing scheme takes the idea from the basic scheme of Visual cryptography to stack two transparent shares to obtain the original image. The paper proposes a scheme of recursive creation of shares using the basic scheme and embedding secrets into the shares. This results levels of share creation i.e. n- secrets equals n/2 levels. The Recursive visual cryptography produces shares from level n-1 when encrypted. For the purpose of user identification Biometric fingerprint authentication using minutiae extraction is provided with pixel pattern match and RGBA intensity match.  Thus the proposed scheme would make efficient utilization of data.     ESSVCS: an enriched secret sharing visual cryptography

    Visual Cryptography (VC) is a powerful technique that combines the notions of perfect ciphers and secret sharing in cryptography with that of raster graphics. A binary image can be divided into shares that are able to be stacked together so as to approximately recover the original image. VC is a unique technique in the sense that the encrypted message can be decrypted directly by the Human Visual System (HVS). The distinguishing characteristic of VC is the ability of secret restoration without the use of computation. However because of restrictions of the HVS, pixel expansion and alignment problems, a VC scheme perhaps can only be applied to share a small size of secret image. In this paper, we present an Enriched Secret Sharing Visual Cryptography Scheme (ESSVCS) to let the VC shares carry more secrets, the technique is to use cypher output of private-key systems as the input random numbers of VC scheme, meanwhile the encryption key could be shared, the shared keys could be associated with the VC shares. After this operation, VC scheme and secret sharing scheme are merged with the private-key system. Under this design, we implement a (k; t; n)-VC scheme. Compared to those existing schemes, our scheme could greatly enhance the ability of current VC schemes and could cope with pretty rich secrets

Visual is secret sharing technique used in visual cryptography which divides the secret image into multiple shares and by superimposing those shares the original secret image is going to be revealed, but it create a threat when an intruder get shares with which the image is going to be decrypted easily. However in these project work, an extremely useful bitwise operation is perform on every pixel with the help of key. The key is provided by new concept of sterilization algorithm. Initially Red, Green and Blue channels get separated from image and are going to be encrypted on multiple levels using multiple shares, convert an image into unreadable format and by combining all the shares in proper sequence the original secret image revealed

Steganography is a branch of security technique which involves the art of hiding the existence of the message between sender and the intended recipient. Here, steganography has been used to hide digital images. Cryptography involves converting the message text into an unreadable cipher. To overcome this predictability, we propose the concept of visual cryptographic steganography where slices of original secret image upon encryption are embedded within a cover image. The resultant stego image is then decrypted to recover the original image

    Visual secret sharing and related Works -A Review

    The accelerated development of network technology and internet applications has increased the significance of protecting digital data and images from unauthorized access and manipulation. The secret image-sharing network (SIS) is a crucial technique used to protect private digital photos from illegal editing and copying. SIS can be classified into two types: single-secret sharing (SSS) and multi-secret sharing (MSS). In SSS, a single secret image is divided into multiple shares, while in MSS, multiple secret images are divided into multiple shares. Both SSS and MSS ensure that the original secret images cannot be reconstructed without the correct combination of shares. Therefore, several secret image-sharing methods have been developed depending on these two methods for example visual cryptography, steganography, discrete wavelet transform, watermarking, and threshold. All of these techniques are capable of randomly dividing the secret image into a large number of shares, each of which cannot provide any information to the intrusion team.  This study examined various visual secret-sharing schemes as unique examples of participant secret-sharing methods. Several structures that generalize and enhance VSS were also discussed in this study on covert image-sharing protocols and also this research also gives a comparative analysis of several methods based on various attributes in order to better concentrate on the future directions of the secret image. Generally speaking, the image quality generated employing developed methodologies is preferable to the image quality achieved through using the traditional visual secret-sharing methodology

    Two Step Share Visual Cryptography Algorithm for Secure Visual Sharing

    This paper re - examines the problem of visual secret sharing for general access structures by using visual cryptograms of random grids (VCRG). Given a binary or color secret image shared by a set of n participants with a strong access structure, we devise t wo effective algorithms to produce a set of VCRG so that the members in each qualified set can reconstruct the secret image by superimposing their sh ares, while those in any forbidden set cannot. The basic 2 out of 2 visual cryptography model consists of a secret message encoded into two transparencies, one transparency representing the cipher text and the other acting as a secret key. Both transparencies appear to be random dots when inspected individually and provide no information about the original clea r text. However, by carefully aligning the transparencies, the original secret message is reproduced. The actual decoding is accomplished by the human visual system. Our algorithms do not require any extr a pixel expansion, which is indispensable and grows exponentially as n increases in conventional visual cryptographic schemes
