    E-ShodhSindhu consortium is backbone of research in higher education system in India. E-ShodhSindhu consortium provides full text and bibliographical journal databases to higher education institutions at subscription cost. The current study is an effort to find out the use of E-ShodhSindhu consortium by the Research Scholars of Kurukshetra University and Maharshi Dayanand University. Study indicates that more than 55% Research Scholars including both the universities are aware about E-ShodhSindhu consortium and they use it mainly for research work

    Changes in information seeking behavior and reading patterns of Law students in digital environment: A Case Study

It is observed from the study that books and subscribed online legal databases are the main source of information to them and it is necessary to help and guide the students in using the library resources and services to meet their information requirement.     The wide-ranging use of information and communication technologies, especially the World Wide Web, has brought significant changes in the way information is generated, stored and accessed. With the rapid development and use of the internet and web-based tools and technologies the major development that is taking place in libraries is extensive availability and use of various kinds of e-resources such as online database, OPAC, CD-ROM databases, online portals in general or subject wise. Now libraries and information centers spend increasingly more funds for subscribing e-resources, even when shrinking budgets of the libraries. This paper deals with a study on the awareness, accessibility, and use by the faculty members and research scholars of five disciplines of social science of Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. A structured questionnaire was distributed among 500 research scholars and faculty members out of which 30% responded. It was found that more than 3/5th of the research scholars visit Vivekananda library to read books, the largest part of them are aware of the library facilities and are also aware of the availability of e-resources. Indian Citation Index, Web of Science, and Scopus are being used by faculty members and research scholars for citation analysis. Shodhganga and MDU Institutionary repository are being used for Theses and Dissertations. Turnitin software as a plagiarism checker tool is known among the academic community. Majority of the user used UGC-Infonet E-Journal Consortium and JSTOR. 2/5th users (research scholars) preferred hostel as the best location for accessing e-resources, almost half are using e-resources daily, half of them are accessing 2-5 hours a week, more than half of them expressed the advantage is that they can access it from anywhere/anytime, restricted timings in the digital library is the major difficulty expressed by half of them, 39.55% are aware of library orientation program conducted in the library

    Today, e-journals play a significant role in meeting information needs of scholars. On the other hand, each year publishers demand higher costs for e-journals subscription. Librarians seek ways to assess the use of e-journals in order to determine how well they meet users\u27 needs and to justify increases in budget for e-journals acquisition. This study aimed to assess accessibility and use of e-journals by the research scholars at top ten university libraries affiliated to the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology (MSRT) in Iran. Questionnaire was adopted for data collection and a total of 1380 research scholars participated in this study. It was found that the level of e-journals accessibility at university libraries affiliated to the MSRT in Iran was high. A great majority of research scholars were aware of e-journals at their libraries. Further, e-journals had been used more than medium level. Although research scholars belonging to Basic Sciences were known as the heaviest e-journals users, available e-journals met their information needs less than the other disciplines. The study suggested that the provision of e-journals have to be maintained and continued by Iranian university libraries concerning users’ preferences and characteristics especially users’ discipline

    Awareness and Use of E-Journals by the Research Scholars and Faculty Members in the Department of Political Science of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh: A Study

    Electronic-journals are playing an essential role in today’s digital world for higher academic education and institutions. The aim of the study was to ascertain the level of awareness and use of e-journals by the research scholars and faculty members in the department of political science of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. A well structured questionnaire was prepared for the research scholars and faculty members of political science to gather data related to the use of e-journals. The study revealed that most of the research scholars and faculty members were aware of e-journals and largely uses them for reference purposes in their research work. The results shows that majority of the respondents of both type prefer electronic form of journals. Majority of research scholars (62%) and faculty members (73%) in the department preferred pdf format for reading e-journals. It was also found that lack of training and slow downloading were the main hurdle in the proper utilization of e-journals. The present study suggested that more access terminals should be provided to the research scholars and faculty members and user orientation programmes should be introduced to enhance the e-journal service effectively and efficiently in the department of political science of Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh

    AWARENESS AND USE OF ELECTRONIC INFORMATION RESOURCES BY FACULTY MEMBERS IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF HYDERABAD KARNATAKA REGION: A PILOT STUDY

    The questionnaire was self designed and distributed through electronic form samples with randomly. The random samples contains of faculty members and staff. The complete questionnaires have been gathered from the respondents for the data analysis and interpretations. On the source of complete questionnaire the data has been analyzed and tabulated using SPSS software. For data scrutiny percentage technique, has been adopted. Due to small number of space significant results findings have been specified in brief. The current work was carried out during January to march 2017. Hence the present survey is enclosed to randomly selected population of geographically; this study is limited to the higher educational institutions, which covered universities, professional colleges and degree colleges, in HK area. But the scope of the study was restricted to selected of higher educational institutions in HK region, which including the backward districts of Bidar, Gulbarga, Yadagiri, Raichur, Koppal and Bellary. The questionnaire was distributed to 115 faculties random samples, out of which 79 (68.69%) respondents have responded. The similarity study will be promoted for further study covering other higher educational institutions of HK region to get more generalized and genuine findings. The discovered of the present study might be taken as the foreword findings from a pilot study. The paper highlights the essential survey findings in respect of internet awareness, use of library users towards the e-resources, which have been made available to their library. After to this, some authentic attributes by the respondents have also been coated and few propositions and recommendations have also been specified in to the point
