Reduction of discrete-time two-channel delayed systems
In this letter, the reduction method is extended to time-delay systems affected by two mismatched input delays. To this end, the intrinsic feedback structure of the retarded dynamics is exploited to deduce a reduced dynamics which is free of delays. Moreover, among other possibilities, an Immersion and Invariance feedback over the reduced dynamics is designed for achieving stabilization of the original systems. A chained sampled-data dynamics is used to show the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy through simulations
Backstepping and Sequential Predictors for Control Systems
We provide new methods in mathematical control theory for two significant classes of control systems with time delays, based on backstepping and sequential prediction. Our bounded backstepping results ensure global asymptotic stability for partially linear systems with an arbitrarily large number of integrators. We also build sequential predictors for time-varying linear systems with time-varying delays in the control, sampling in the control, and time-varying measurement delays. Our bounded backstepping results are novel because of their use of converging-input-converging-state conditions, which make it possible to solve feedback stabilization problems under input delays and under boundedness conditions on the feedback control. Our sequential predictors work is novel in its ability to cover time-varying measurement delays and sampling which were beyond the scope of existing sequential predictor methods for time-varying linear systems, and in the fact that the feedback controls that we obtain from our sequential predictors do not contain any distributed terms
New Control Design for Bounded Backstepping under Input Delays
International audienceWe provide a new backstepping result for time-varying systems with input delays. The novelty of our work is in the bounds on the controls, and the facts that (i) one does not need to compute any Lie derivatives to apply our controls, (ii) the controls have no distributed terms, and (iii) we do not require any differentiability conditions on the available controls for the subsystems
Predictor-Feedback Stabilization of Multi-Input Nonlinear Systems
We develop a predictor-feedback control design for multi-input nonlinear
systems with distinct input delays, of arbitrary length, in each individual
input channel. Due to the fact that different input signals reach the plant at
different time instants, the key design challenge, which we resolve, is the
construction of the predictors of the plant's state over distinct prediction
horizons such that the corresponding input delays are compensated. Global
asymptotic stability of the closed-loop system is established by utilizing
arguments based on Lyapunov functionals or estimates on solutions. We
specialize our methodology to linear systems for which the predictor-feedback
control laws are available explicitly and for which global exponential
stability is achievable. A detailed example is provided dealing with the
stabilization of the nonholonomic unicycle, subject to two different input
delays affecting the speed and turning rate, for the illustration of our
methodology.Comment: Submitted to IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control on May 19 201
Sparse Packetized Predictive Control for Networked Control over Erasure Channels
We study feedback control over erasure channels with packet-dropouts. To
achieve robustness with respect to packet-dropouts, the controller transmits
data packets containing plant input predictions, which minimize a finite
horizon cost function. To reduce the data size of packets, we propose to adopt
sparsity-promoting optimizations, namely, ell-1-ell-2 and ell-2-constrained
ell-0 optimizations, for which efficient algorithms exist. We derive sufficient
conditions on design parameters, which guarantee (practical) stability of the
resulting feedback control systems when the number of consecutive
packet-dropouts is bounded.Comment: IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, Volume 59 (2014), Issue 7
