System implementation: managing project and post project stage - case study in an Indonesian company
The research reported in this paper aims to get a better\ud
understanding of how the implementation process of\ud
enterprise systems (ES) can be managed, by studying the\ud
process from an organisational perspective. A review of\ud
the literature on previous research in ES implementation\ud
has been carried out and the state of the art of ES\ud
implementation research is defined. Using several body of\ud
literature, an organisational view on ES implementation is\ud
described, explaining that ES implementation involves\ud
challenges from triple domain, namely technological\ud
challenge, business process related challenge, and\ud
organisational challenge. Based on the defined state of the\ud
art and the organisational view on ES implementation\ud
developed in this research, a research framework is\ud
presented, addressing the project as well as the postproject\ud
stage, and a number of essential issues within the\ud
stages. System alignment, knowledge acquisition, change\ud
mobilisation are the essntial issues to be studied in the\ud
project stage while institutionalisation effort and\ud
continuous improvement facilitation are to be studied in\ud

The relevance of specific csfs for stakeholders during ERP implementation: an empirical study from Oman
The success of ERP systems implementation is affected by the extent to which stakeholders have been prepared for the project activities and its outcomes. Stakeholdersâ preparation needs change as the ERP implementation lifecycle progresses and varies across stakeholder groups. Therefore a dynamic model is needed for such preparation. However such a model needs to reflect the relevance of different CSFs to different stakeholder groups at different stages of the ERP implementation life-cycle. This study examines empirical evidence from a survey conducted in Omani organisations to determine what these individual CSFs are and how they are distributed across the ERP implementation life-cycle for different stakeholder groups. The CSFs included in the survey were derived from a structured review of literature. Purposive sampling was used to select respondents representing different ERP stakeholders groups, all respondents had both experience and knowledge of ERP implementations. Implementing ERP systems - organisational implications
Success of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems depend on rigorous and disciplined approach to planning and implementation. This article presents a selection and implementation methodology that has been applied to three similar companies and highlights a wide variation in outcome. The underlying reasons for the variations in success can be specifically attributed to organisational personalities and culture. Analysis of these case studies provides key lessons and concludes by summarising these lessons in a cause and effect diagram
An ES process framework for understanding the strategic decision making process of ES implementations
Enterprise systems (ES) implementations are regarded costly, time and resource consuming and have a
great impact on the organization in terms of the risks they involve and the opportunities they provide. The
steering committee (SC) represents the group of individuals who is responsible for making strategic
decisions throughout the ES implementation lifecycle. It is evident from recent studies that there is a
relationship between the decision making process and ES implementation success. One of the key
elements that contribute to the success of ES implementations is a quick decision making process (Brown
and Vessey, 1999; Gupta, 2000; Parr, et al., 1999). This study addresses the strategic decision-making
process by SC through its focus on four research questions (1) How can the strategic decision-making
process in the implementation of ES be better understood, during each phase of the ES implementation
lifecycle? (2) What is the process by which the SC makes strategic decisions? (3) How are fast decisions
made? and (4) How does decision speed link to the success of ES implementation? Process models of ES
implementation will provide a framework to investigate the strategic decision making process during each
phases of the ES implementation lifecycle. Patterns in the decision making process will be explored using
strategic choice models. This study develops a research model that focuses on the decision making
process by steering committee to explore research questions. It concludes with identifying contributions
to both IS research and business practitioners

However, until now, no one has studied how these CSFs should be put in practice to help organizations achieve success
in ERP implementations. This technical research report attempts to define the usage of Goals/Questions/Metrics (GQM)
approach in the definition of a measurement system for ERP implementation projects. GQM approach is a mechanism for
defining and interpreting operational, measurable goals. Lately, because of its intuitive nature the approach has
gained widespread appeal. We present a metrics overview and a description of GQM approach. Then we provide an example
of GQM application for monitoring sustained management support in ERP implementations. Sustained management support

Business Process Management Education in Academia: Status, challenges, and Recommendations
In response to the growing proliferation of Business Process Management (BPM) in industry and the demand this creates for BPM expertise, universities across the globe are at various stages of incorporating knowledge and skills in their teaching offerings. However, there are still only a handful of institutions that offer specialized education in BPM in a systematic and in-depth manner. This article is based on a global educatorsâ panel discussion held at the 2009 European Conference on Information Systems in Verona, Italy. The article presents the BPM programs of five universities from Australia, Europe, Africa, and North America, describing the BPM content covered, program and course structures, and challenges and lessons learned. The article also provides a comparative content analysis of BPM education programs illustrating a heterogeneous view of BPM. The examples presented demonstrate how different courses and programs can be developed to meet the educational goals of a university department, program, or school. This article contributes insights on how best to continuously sustain and reshape BPM education to ensure it remains dynamic, responsive, and sustainable in light of the evolving and ever-changing marketplace demands for BPM expertise
