Survival and Seedling Growth of Moon-eyed Snail (Turbo Chrysostumus L.) on Different Temperature Conditions
Turbo chrysostumus is commonly known by fishermen community as moon-eyed snail and has common names of yellow-mouth turban or gold-mouth turban. These biota live in rocky beach and coral reefs surface filled with alga. They are also easily collected and used for high nutritive food for coastal villagers. The study of survival and growth of turbo youngsters in relation with different temperature is very limited. This study was done in January 5 â May 4, 2015 in the laboratory with the objective of observing the effect of optimum temperature range on their survival and growth. Based on ANOVA statistical analyses, the temperature had significsant effect on the survival of the turbo youngsters (p<0.05). âHonest Significant Differenceâ test revealed that control temperature (P1), 26±0.5°C (P2), and 28±0.5°C (P3) produced a significantly different effect on the survival compared with that in 30±0.5°C (P4). Higher growth rate was recorded in 26±0.5°C balanced with high food consumability. The relationship analysis of height shell-weight of wet body in all treatments indicated similar pattern of minor allometric (b<3)
Minimum Pseudoweight Analysis of 3-Dimensional Turbo Codes
In this work, we consider pseudocodewords of (relaxed) linear programming
(LP) decoding of 3-dimensional turbo codes (3D-TCs). We present a relaxed LP
decoder for 3D-TCs, adapting the relaxed LP decoder for conventional turbo
codes proposed by Feldman in his thesis. We show that the 3D-TC polytope is
proper and -symmetric, and make a connection to finite graph covers of the
3D-TC factor graph. This connection is used to show that the support set of any
pseudocodeword is a stopping set of iterative decoding of 3D-TCs using maximum
a posteriori constituent decoders on the binary erasure channel. Furthermore,
we compute ensemble-average pseudoweight enumerators of 3D-TCs and perform a
finite-length minimum pseudoweight analysis for small cover degrees. Also, an
explicit description of the fundamental cone of the 3D-TC polytope is given.
Finally, we present an extensive numerical study of small-to-medium block
length 3D-TCs, which shows that 1) typically (i.e., in most cases) when the
minimum distance and/or the stopping distance is
high, the minimum pseudoweight (on the additive white Gaussian noise channel)
is strictly smaller than both the and the , and 2)
the minimum pseudoweight grows with the block length, at least for
small-to-medium block lengths.Comment: To appear in IEEE Transactions on Communication
Implementation of a fully-parallel turbo decoder on a general-purpose graphics processing unit
Turbo codes comprising a parallel concatenation of upper and lower convolutional codes are widely employed in state-of-the-art wireless communication standards, since they facilitate transmission throughputs that closely approach the channel capacity. However, this necessitates high processing throughputs in order for the turbo code to support real-time communications. In stateof- the-art turbo code implementations, the processing throughput is typically limited by the data dependencies that occur within the forward and backward recursions of the Log-BCJR algorithm, which is employed during turbo decoding. In contrast to the highly-serial Log-BCJR turbo decoder, we have recently proposed a novel Fully Parallel Turbo Decoder (FPTD) algorithm, which can eliminate the data dependencies and perform fully parallel processing. In this paper, we propose an optimized FPTD algorithm, which reformulates the operation of the FPTD algorithm so that the upper and lower decoders have identical operation, in order to support Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) operation. This allows us to develop a novel General Purpose Graphics Processing Unit (GPGPU) implementation of the FPTD, which has application in Software-Defined Radios (SDRs) and virtualized Cloud- Radio Access Networks (C-RANs). As a benefit of its higher degree of parallelism, we show that our FPTD improves the higher processing throughput of the Log-BCJR turbo decoder by between 2.3 and 9.2 times, when employing a high-specification GPGPU. However, this is achieved at the cost of a moderate increase of the overall complexity by between 1.7 and 3.3 times

Biological screening of herbal extracts and essential oil from Plectranthus species: α-amylase and 5-lipoxygenase inhibition and antioxidant and anti-Candida potentials
The phenolic compound content, the antioxidant and α-amylase inhibition potentials of different extracts of the Plectranthus amboinicus, P. barbatus and P. ornatus were evaluated. We also evaluated the influence of plant growth and harvest time on the chemical composition of the essential oil (EO) of P. amboinicus, its antioxidant and anti-Candida activities and the α-amylase and lipoxygenase inhibitions. The turbo-extract of P. barbatus showed the greatest phenolic compound content and antioxidant activity. No α-amylase inhibition activity was observed in the analyzed extracts, but the turbo-extraction and refluxing extracts possessed high antioxidant activities. Protected cultivation and morning harvest conditions gave the best antioxidant activities, which was associated to the highest carvacrol content. P. amboinicus EO antioxidant activity could contribute to the reduction of oxidative stress in diabetes. Causal Candida strains of diabetic foot ulcers showed sensitivity to P. amboinicus EO. C. albicans and C. dubliniensis were the most sensitive of the selected Candida strains. Turbo-extracts or refluxing of the three species extracts and the EO of P. amboinicus should be considered as a potential candidate for the management the complications of type 2 diabetes
