The regularized Benjamin–Ono and BBM equations: Well-posedness and nonlinear stability

    Get PDF
AbstractNonlinear stability of nonlinear periodic solutions of the regularized Benjamin–Ono equation and the Benjamin–Bona–Mahony equation with respect to perturbations of the same wavelength is analytically studied. These perturbations are shown to be stable. We also develop a global well-posedness theory for the regularized Benjamin–Ono equation in the periodic and in the line setting. In particular, we show that the Cauchy problem (in both periodic and nonperiodic case) cannot be solved by an iteration scheme based on the Duhamel formula for negative Sobolev indices

Theoretical and computational structures on solitary wave solutions of Benjamin Bona Mahony-Burgers equation

This paper aims to obtain exact and numerical solutions of the nonlinear Benjamin Bona Mahony-Burgers (BBM-Burgers) equation. Here, we propose the modi ed Kudryashov method for getting the exact traveling wave solutions of BBM-Burgers equation and a septic B-spline collocation nite element method for numerical investigations. The numerical method is validated by studying solitary wave motion. Linear stability analysis of the numerical scheme is done with Fourier method based on von-Neumann theory. To show suitability and robustness of the new numerical algorithm, error norms L2, L1 and three invariants I1; I2 and I3 are calculated and obtained results are given both numerically and graphically. The obtained results state that our exact and numerical schemes ensure evident and they are penetrative mathematical instruments for solving nonlinear evolution equation

Numerical Solitons of Generalized Korteweg-de Vries Equations

We propose a numerical method for finding solitary wave solutions of generalized Korteweg-de Vries equations by solving the nonlinear eigenvalue problem on an unbounded domain. The artificial boundary conditions are obtained to make the domain finite. We specially discuss the soliton solutions of the K(m, n) equation and KdV-K(m,n) equation. Furthermore for the mixed models of linear and nonlinear dispersion, the collision behaviors of soliton-soliton and soliton-antisoliton are observed.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

Weierstrass Traveling Wave Solutions for Dissipative Benjamin, Bona, and Mahoney (BBM) Equation

In this paper the effect of a small dissipation on waves is included to find exact solutions to the modified Benjamin, Bona, and Mahony (BBM) equation by viscosity. Using Lyapunov functions and dynamical systems theory, we prove that when viscosity is added to the BBM equation, in certain regions there still exist bounded traveling wave solutions in the form of solitary waves, periodic, and elliptic functions. By using the canonical form of Abel equation, the polynomial Appell invariant makes the equation integrable in terms of Weierstrass ℘ functions. We will use a general formalism based on Ince\u27s transformation to write the general solution of dissipative BBM in terms of ℘ functions, from which all the other known solutions can be obtained via simplifying assumptions. Using ODE (ordinary differential equations) analysis we show that the traveling wave speed is a bifurcationparameter that makes transition between different classes of waves

On asymptotically equivalent shallow water wave equations

The integrable 3rd-order Korteweg-de Vries (KdV) equation emerges uniquely at linear order in the asymptotic expansion for unidirectional shallow water waves. However, at quadratic order, this asymptotic expansion produces an entire {\it family} of shallow water wave equations that are asymptotically equivalent to each other, under a group of nonlinear, nonlocal, normal-form transformations introduced by Kodama in combination with the application of the Helmholtz-operator. These Kodama-Helmholtz transformations are used to present connections between shallow water waves, the integrable 5th-order Korteweg-de Vries equation, and a generalization of the Camassa-Holm (CH) equation that contains an additional integrable case. The dispersion relation of the full water wave problem and any equation in this family agree to 5th order. The travelling wave solutions of the CH equation are shown to agree to 5th order with the exact solution

A numerical solution of the modified regularized long wave (MRLW) equation using quartic B-splines

    Get PDF
In this paper, a numerical solution of the modified regularized long wave (MRLW) equation is obtained by subdomain finite element method using quartic B-spline functions. Solitary wave motion, interaction of two and three solitary waves and the development of the Maxwellian initial condition into solitary waves are studied using the proposed method. Accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method are tested by calculating the numerical conserved laws and error norms L₂ and L∞. The obtained results show that the method is an effective numerical scheme to solve the MRLW equation. In addition, a linear stability analysis of the scheme is found to be unconditionally stable.Publisher's Versio

Numerical Solutions for the Time and Space Fractional Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

    Get PDF
We implement relatively analytical techniques, the homotopy perturbation method, and variational iteration method to find the approximate solutions for time and space fractional Benjamin-Bona Mahony equation. The fractional derivatives are described in the Caputo sense. These methods are used in applied mathematics to obtain the analytic approximate solutions for the nonlinear Bejamin-Bona Mahoney (BBM) partial fractional differential equation. We compare between the approximate solutions obtained by these methods. Also, we present the figures to compare between the approximate solutions. Also, we use the fractional complex transformation to convert nonlinear partial fractional differential equations to nonlinear ordinary differential equations. We use the improved -expansion function method to find exact solutions of nonlinear fractional BBM equation

New extended generalized Kudryashov method for solving three nonlinear partial differential equations

    Get PDF
New extended generalized Kudryashov method is proposed in this paper for the first time. Many solitons and other solutions of three nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs), namely, the (1+1)-dimensional improved perturbed nonlinear Schrödinger equation with anti-cubic nonlinearity, the (2+1)-dimensional Davey–Sterwatson (DS) equation and the (3+1)-dimensional modified Zakharov–Kuznetsov (mZK) equation of ion-acoustic waves in a magnetized plasma have been presented. Comparing our new results with the well-known results are given. Our results in this article emphasize that the used method gives a vast applicability for handling other nonlinear partial differential equations in mathematical physics
