A Practical Example for Model-Driven Web Requirements
The number of approaches for Web environments has grown very fast
in the last years: HDM, OOHDM, and WSDM were among the first, and now a
large number can be found in the literature. With the definition of MDA (Model-
Driven Architecture) and the acceptance of MDE (Model-Driven Engineering)
techniques in this environment, some groups are working in the use of metamodels
and transformations to make their approaches more powerful. UWE (UMLBased
Web Engineering) or OOWS (Object-Oriented Web Solutions) are only
some examples. However, there are few real experiences with Web Engineering in
the enterprise environment, and very few real applications of metamodels and
MDE techniques. In this chapter the practical experience of a Web Engineering
approach, NDT, in a big project developed in Andalusia is presented. Besides, it
shows the usability of metamodels in real environments
MDA-based ATL transformation to generate MVC 2 web models
Development and maintenance of Web application is still a complex and
error-prone process. We need integrated techniques and tool support for
automated generation of Web systems and a ready prescription for easy
maintenance. The MDA approach proposes an architecture taking into account the
development and maintenance of large and complex software. In this paper, we
apply MDA approach for generating PSM from UML design to MVC 2Web
implementation. That is why we have developed two meta-models handling UML
class diagrams and MVC 2 Web applications, then we have to set up
transformation rules. These last are expressed in ATL language. To specify the
transformation rules (especially CRUD methods) we used a UML profiles. To
clearly illustrate the result generated by this transformation, we converted
the XMI file generated in an EMF (Eclipse Modeling Framework) model.Comment: International Journal of Computer Science & Information

Towards Model-Driven Development of Access Control Policies for Web Applications
We introduce a UML-based notation for graphically modeling
systems’ security aspects in a simple and intuitive
way and a model-driven process that transforms graphical
specifications of access control policies in XACML. These
XACML policies are then translated in FACPL, a policy
language with a formal semantics, and the resulting policies
are evaluated by means of a Java-based software tool
Category Theory and Model-Driven Engineering: From Formal Semantics to Design Patterns and Beyond
There is a hidden intrigue in the title. CT is one of the most abstract
mathematical disciplines, sometimes nicknamed "abstract nonsense". MDE is a
recent trend in software development, industrially supported by standards,
tools, and the status of a new "silver bullet". Surprisingly, categorical
patterns turn out to be directly applicable to mathematical modeling of
structures appearing in everyday MDE practice. Model merging, transformation,
synchronization, and other important model management scenarios can be seen as
executions of categorical specifications.
Moreover, the paper aims to elucidate a claim that relationships between CT
and MDE are more complex and richer than is normally assumed for "applied
mathematics". CT provides a toolbox of design patterns and structural
principles of real practical value for MDE. We will present examples of how an
elementary categorical arrangement of a model management scenario reveals

Applying model-driven paradigm: CALIPSOneo experience
Model-Driven Engineering paradigm is being used by the research community in the last years, obtaining suitable results. However, there are few practical experiences in the enterprise field. This paper presents the use of this paradigm in an aeronautical PLM project named CALIPSOneo currently under development in Airbus. In this context, NDT methodology was adapted as methodology in order to be used by the development team. The paper presents this process and the results that we are getting from the project. An evaluation framework for stereo-based driver assistance
This is the post-print version of the Article - Copyright @ 2012 Springer VerlagThe accuracy of stereo algorithms or optical flow methods is commonly assessed by comparing the results against the Middlebury
database. However, equivalent data for automotive or robotics applications
rarely exist as they are difficult to obtain. As our main contribution, we introduce an evaluation framework tailored for stereo-based driver assistance able to deliver excellent performance measures while
circumventing manual label effort. Within this framework one can combine several ways of ground-truthing, different comparison metrics, and use large image databases.
Using our framework we show examples on several types of ground truthing techniques: implicit ground truthing (e.g. sequence recorded without a crash occurred), robotic vehicles with high precision sensors, and to a small extent, manual labeling. To show the effectiveness of our evaluation framework we compare three different stereo algorithms on
pixel and object level. In more detail we evaluate an intermediate representation
called the Stixel World. Besides evaluating the accuracy of the Stixels, we investigate the completeness (equivalent to the detection rate) of the StixelWorld vs. the number of phantom Stixels. Among many findings, using this framework enables us to reduce the number of phantom Stixels by a factor of three compared to the base parametrization. This base parametrization has already been optimized by test driving vehicles for distances exceeding 10000 km
A Model-Driven Approach for Business Process Management
The Business Process Management is a common mechanism recommended by a high number of standards for the management of companies and organizations. In software companies this practice is every day more accepted and companies have to assume it, if they want to be competitive. However, the effective definition of these processes and mainly their maintenance and execution are not always easy tasks. This paper presents an approach based on the Model-Driven paradigm for Business Process Management in software companies. Model Transformations from Requirements to Web System Design
Requirements models are used to specify system functionalities
from the customer viewpoint and are the starting point of software
development. However, most Web engineering approaches do not
provide a systematic method to build design models from
requirements specification. We propose an approach using model
transformations to close this gap. Our transformation rules are
defined in the QVT language – a forthcoming OMG standard,
which makes automatic model generation possible. This way

suitable for Web environments in order to guarantee the quality of results. The research community is working in this area and, as a very recent

is a lack in Web requirements treatment. This paper presents a general vision of Navigational Development Techniques (NDT), which is an
approach to deal with requirements in Web systems. It is based on conclusions obtained in several comparative studies and it tries to fill some
gaps detected by the research community. This paper presents its scope, its most important contributions, and offers a global vision of its
associated tool: NDT-Tool. Furthermore, it analyzes how Web Engineering can be applied in the enterprise environment. NDT is being applied

Métodos de ingeniería web dirigidos por modelos: una revisión de literatura
RESUMEN: Este artículo presenta algunos de los métodos de ingeniería Web dirigida por modelos que se han propuesto. En él se discuten y analizan las ventajas y desventajas de dichos métodos con relación a las tendencias actuales y las mejores prácticas en la ingeniería dirigida por modelos. La idea es presentar cada método y analizar los modelos que propone para representar aplicaciones Web, los aspectos arquitectónicos en las transformaciones y el uso de tecnologías actuales de interfaz de usuario Web en el código generado. Esto se hace con el fin de vislumbrar posibles líneas de investigación para trabajos futuros en el área de la ingeniería Web dirigida por modelos.ABSTRACT: This paper presents some of the model-driven Web engineering methods that have been proposed, and discusses and analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of such methods regarding current tendencies and best practices on model-driven engineering. The idea is to present each approach and analyze the models they propose to represent Web applications, the architectural aspects in the transformations, and the use of current Web user interface technologies in the generated code.
