Decision-Making Ontology for Information System Engineering

    No full text
International audienceInformation Systems (IS) engineering (ISE) processes contain steps where decisions must be made. Moreover, the growing role of IS in organizations involves requirements for ISE such as quality, cost and time. Considering these aspects implies that the number of researches dealing with decision-making (DM) in ISE increasingly grows. As DM becomes widespread in the ISE field, it is necessary to build a representation, shared between researchers and practitioners, of DM concepts and their relations with DM problems in ISE. In this paper, we present a DM ontology which aims at formalizing DM knowledge. Its goal is to enhance DM and to support DM activities in ISE. This ontology is illustrated within the requirements engineering field

With the aim to manage and retrieve the organizational knowledge, in the last years numerous proposals of models and tools for knowledge management have arisen. However, most of them store the knowledge in a not structured or semi-structured way, hindering the semantic and automatic processing of this knowledge. In this work we introduce a conceptual framework as well as the design of an organizational memory based on cases, so that it can be used to learn, to solve problems, and as support in decision making as well. The proposed model is based on an ontology that allows using semantic Web technologies, which in turn facilitates the reuse, the interoperability and the automatic processing by agents. In order to illustrate the utility of this model, a practical case is shown: A recommendation system as support to the quality assurance area in Software Engineering.III Workshop de Ingeniería de Software y Bases de Datos (WISBD)Red de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

The notable evolution of Web-based distributed systems and the growing functionality and interoperability between Web applications have allowed users to move from an autonomous to a collaborative work, characterized by collaboration in common, shared tasks. This latter characteristic is the one that is supported by the tool discussed here. Therefore in this paper, design and implementation issues of a Web-based, collaborative metrics discussion system is presented. The system allows adding to an actual semantically structured repository of metrics and indicators, instances of metrics information that has been agreed among quality experts during the revision process. Particularly, aspects of the asynchronous collaborative discussion process and the tool which supports it are analysed thoroughly.III Workshop de Ingeniería de Software y Bases de Datos (WISBD)Red de Universidades con Carreras en Informática (RedUNCI

Theories of Informetrics and Scholarly Communication

Scientometrics have become an essential element in the practice and evaluation of science and research, including both the evaluation of individuals and national assessment exercises. Yet, researchers and practitioners in this field have lacked clear theories to guide their work. As early as 1981, then doctoral student Blaise Cronin published The need for a theory of citing - a call to arms for the fledgling scientometric community to produce foundational theories upon which the work of the field could be based. More than three decades later, the time has come to reach out the field again and ask how they have responded to this call. This book compiles the foundational theories that guide informetrics and scholarly communication research. It is a much needed compilation by leading scholars in the field that gathers together the theories that guide our understanding of authorship, citing, and impact
