TOWARDS A CONSOLIDATED RESEARCH MODEL FOR UNDERSTANDING BUSINESS INTELLIGENCE SUCCESS
Research about the factors that determine the success of information systems (IS) suggests that IS success is an elusive phenomenon that can only be explained in terms of a multi-dimensional construct. Despite the usefulness and unique qualities of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, the factors responsible for the success of BI solutions remain poorly understood. Our article attempts to illuminate a path towards a clearer understanding of how BI solutions succeed by drawing on the existing body of literature and critically reflecting on the updated model of information systems success presented by DeLone and McLean (2003) and Wixom and Watsonâs (2001) model of data warehousing success. The principal research contribution consists of expanding, adapting, and synthesising these two models into a consolidated model for BI success. We derive a second order model, delineate its constructs, and conceptualise their relationships based on prior research related to IS success. The operationalization of these factors has the potential of leading to a more precise instrument for understanding, evaluating and analysing the success of BI solutions
SPIRITUAL CAPACITY AND SPIRITUAL LEADERSHIP IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF WORKING CONDITIONS OF ORGANIZATIONS
Constant environment changes and the increases in the impact of information technology and communications have brought the human beings to the point of feeling being disorganized and alienated. Having a supporting system relying on which man can preserve his mental and spiritual calmness is now suggested as a necessity. Spirituality and faith are of the phenomena which are always encouraging people to be humanitarian and try to satisfy the needs of other people. When different dimensions of spirituality are applied in the working environment, individual satisfaction and creativity, organizational order, and long-term commercial success are increased. This paper mainly aims at studying the spiritual capacities and spiritual leadership in applied management, and after giving some general definitions of spirituality, it studies the role of spirituality and spiritual leadership in the efficiency of working environment and improvement of working conditions in the organizationsSpirituality, Spiritual Leadership, Spirituality at Work, Improvement in Working Condition

Improving customer satisfaction: changes as a result of Customer Value Discovery
Objective: To identify Gold Standard Services for customers in an academic library and determine whether interventions following the identification of customer value increased student satisfaction. Methods: âCustomer Discovery Workshopsâ were undertaken with academic staff and undergraduate onâcampus students to provide managers and library staff with information on the services and resources that customers valued, and what irritated them about existing services and resources. The impact of interventions was assessed two years after the research using a university student satisfaction survey and an independent national student satisfaction survey. Results: The findings resulted in significant changes to the way forwardâfacing customer services were delivered. A number of value adding services were introduced for the customer. Overall customer satisfaction was improved. Evidence Based Library and Information Practice 2008, 3:1 34 Conclusions: The Customer Value Discovery research has created a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. An operational plan was introduced to track activity and performance against the objectives identified in the customer value research. However, there is a constant need to innovate
Towards a Life Cycle Oriented Business Intelligence Success Model
Information System (IS) success has been an essential research issue in the IS community for nearly two generations of IS researchers. For the Business Intelligence (BI) domain we see the lack of a comprehensive, life cycle oriented success model. Based on an extensive review of BI success related literature, we propose a methodology for creating such success models in general and demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach within the context of BI. A life cycle oriented BI success model is presented including an outline of the constructs, their relationships, and associated measurement items. From a practical perspective, the results provide assistance for the future development of BI solutions in organizations. The paper deepens the understanding of success model adaptation and extension from a theoretical perspective
Referent tracking for corporate memories
For corporate memory and enterprise ontology systems to be maximally useful,
they must be freed from certain barriers placed around them by traditional
knowledge management paradigms. This means, above all, that they must mirror
more faithfully those portions of reality which are salient to the workings of the
enterprise, including the changes that occur with the passage of time. The purpose
of this chapter is to demonstrate how theories based on philosophical realism can
contribute to this objective. We discuss how realism-based ontologies (capturing
what is generic) combined with referent tracking (capturing what is specific) can
play a key role in building the robust and useful corporate memories of the future
One Defence: one direction? The First Principles Review of Defence
Overview: The recently released report of the First Principles Review of Defence, Creating One Defence, is set to reshape the Defence enterprise over the next few years.
This ASPI special report explains the reviewâs recommendations and analyses the consequences for Defence.
It provides three perspectives on the forthcoming reforms: Peter Jennings, âOne Defenceâroot causes, risks and valuesâ; Andrew Davies, âThe capability development life cycleâ; Mark Thomson, âOne Defence in two partsâ
