National culture and on-line trust: a study of internet Egyptian users
This research-in-progress investigates cultural issues in e-commerce trust. An experiential survey was conducted with three hundred and seventy Egyptian Internet users, exploring two book-seller web sites. Structure equation modeling analysis suggested that, for the target sample, perceived reputation and perceived familiarity with an Internet store have significant effect on building trust for that store. The paper discusses the importance of these two factors within the Egyptian culture
Culture and e-commerce: An exploration of the perceptions and attitudes of Egyptian internet users
This paper examines the perceptions and attitudes that Egyptian users hold towards electronic shopping sites. Internet sites are globally available, opening up huge potential markets for online retailers. However, it remains unclear whether sites designed for the US or European markets will be acceptable in other cultures. This paper describes an exploratory card sorting study conducted with Egyptian consumers. The study was designed to examine the e-commerce interface features that are most salient to this user group and to explore how these relate to user intentions to engage in internet shopping. The results support the role of site familiarity in predicting purchase intentions within this cultural setting
Linking consumer trust perception in constructing an e-commerce trust model
Trust issues is still considered as a main obstacle in the implementation of eCommerce Due to the increasing numbers of cyber crimes committed today, consumers are faced with doubt to engage in online shopping. As a safety precaution, consumers will take certain measures to protect their information by evaluating and assessing these websites trustworthiness before an actual purchase occurs. This paper describes a model that examines the elements related to online consumer behavior and to investigate this behavior towards building and increasing trust. The applicability of the model was tested in attempt to view consumers' acceptance towards the model and its component. The fmdings indicate the respondents are aware of the trust issue surrounding e-Commerce implementation as they accept and agreed with the model and its components
Ignore These At Your Peril: Ten principles for trust design
Online trust has been discussed for more than 10 years, yet little practical guidance has emerged that has proven to be applicable across contexts or useful in the long run. 'Trustworthy UI design guidelines' created in the late 90ies to address the then big question of online trust: how to get shoppers online, are now happily employed by people preparing phishing scams. In this paper we summarize, in practical terms, a conceptual framework for online trust we've established in 2005. Because of its abstract nature it is still useful as a lens through which to view the current big questions of the online trust debate - large focused on usable security and phishing attacks. We then deduct practical 10 rules for providing effective trust support to help practitioners and researchers of usable security

Trust Model for Optimized Cloud Services
Cloud computing with its inherent advantages draws attention for business critical applications, but concurrently expects high level of trust in cloud service providers. Reputation-based trust is emerging as a good choice to model trust of cloud service providers based on available evidence. Many existing reputation based systems either ignore or give less importance to uncertainty linked with the evidence. In this paper, we propose an uncertainty model and define our approach to compute opinion for cloud service providers. Using subjective logic operators along with the computed opinion values, we propose mechanisms to calculate the reputation of cloud service providers. We evaluate and compare our proposed model with existing reputation models
An Exploratory Study on the Level of Trust towards Online Retailers among Consumers in the United Kingdom and Malaysia
This study aims to investigate the extant level of trust towards online retailers among
consumers in two different geographical and cultural locations â UK and Malaysia based on
Michellâs et al. trust model. The objectives of this study are:
1. To identify the predictive variables of customersâ trust towards online retailers
2. To ascertain the extent of the consumer trust variable as being the essential element of
online shopping
3. To analyse the differences in perception of online trust between consumers in the
United Kingdom and Malaysia
The study showed that online retailers are comparatively more trusted in UK than in Malaysia
indicative by the higher average levels of trust from consumers in the UK. Additionally, the
UK had a higher age group in the 25 â 34 category contributing the highest average trust value
compared to Malaysiaâs highest average trust value found in the lower 18 â 24 age group.
There were a relatively higher percentage of male users; 66 per cent and 78 per cent in the UK
and Malaysia respectively. Multiple stepwise regressions were used to analyse the level of
trust against the selected trust correlates
