Utilizing M-Technologies for AI-Driven Career Guidance in Morocco: An Innovative Mobile Approach

    Get PDF
In today’s interconnected world, the significance of effective career guidance has been magnified. With the advent of mobile technologies, e-orientation and artificial intelligence (AI)-orientation systems offer a promising avenue for personalized career guidance. This paper delves into the potential of transitioning from traditional e-orientation to advanced AI-orientation systems in Morocco by employing large language models (LLMs) such as LLAMA2, GPT, and PaLM. These LLMs, renowned for their human-like text generation and contextual understanding, are proposed as the backbone for AI chatbots that can serve as virtual career counselors. Accessible via mobile platforms, these mobile chatbot interfaces can provide real-time insights on career paths, educational prerequisites, and job market dynamics and outlooks. Despite challenges such as Internet reliability, data privacy, and legislative regulations, the integration of AI-orientated systems into mobile platforms can revolutionize career guidance for Moroccan students. This paper presents a detailed roadmap and implementation for embedding these innovative technologies into Morocco’s educational framework

Internal and regional migration for construction work: a research agenda

    Get PDF
This working paper reviews evidence from the literature on internal migration for work in construction in developing countries. The literature reviewed was found through a search of academic databases and selected by the authors. The review identifies cases and contexts in which migration for construction work leads to exits from poverty as well as those in which it entrenches poverty. We also focus upon migrant selectivity and discourses within the literature about migration for construction work. The review identifies gaps in the literature and important themes, in particular those issues and phenomena relating to poverty and development. The small and diverse set of literature, identified for the purpose of this paper, focuses mainly on South Asia. Several areas for future research are suggested throughout the paper and in the concluding section

EXPLORING PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS’ EXPERIENCE WITH THE USE OF SMARTPHONES DURING THE INTERNSHIP PERIOD - CASE STUDY: CRMEF OF RABAT, MOROCCO

    Get PDF
This study intends to explore Moroccan English pre-service teachers’ experience with using cell phones during their internships. Nineteen instructors were picked at random from the Rabat CRMEF (Regional Center for Education and Training Professions). Interviews were conducted with all nineteen participants. The results displayed that trainees’ preconception on the complexity of using smartphones may affect their tendency on employing this mobile tool as an instructional medium. The findings also revealed that pre-service teachers are not ready to integrate smartphones in EFL classrooms due to the lack of ICT training, distractions that smartphones bring about, and schools’ policies banning the use of this gadget.  Article visualizations

New Media of Communication and Language Shift in Morocco

    Get PDF
In the wake of globalization, Morocco witnessed the emergence of highly sophisticated media of communication which affected people’s life and the way they communicate with each other. Communication facilities such as Internet and mobile phones had various effects on the linguistic situation of the country. One of the remarkable changes the Moroccan linguistic repertoire knew in the last decade due to the wide use of Internet and mobile phones is the promotion of the status of Moroccan Arabic (MA) from an oral linguistic variety to a written medium of communication in social media and text messaging. Students, as will be revealed in this study, showed positive attitudes towards MA as a new medium of communication in Internet and mobile phones. They regarded it as an intimate language which transfers meaning in an easy way. This wide use of MA among students had also a remarkable effect on its spread in education, for many secondary school teachers started to give it importance due to its easiness in explanation. Such promotion of MA encouraged many scholars (Caubet 2004; Bowen 2008; Dorian 2012; Hall 2015) to talk about a new diglossic shift which Moroccan society is undergoing. The aim of this empirical research is to study the effects of new media of communication on language use in society and education, and the reason behind the shift in role of MA as a written medium of communication

Recent exports matter: export discoveries, FDI and Growth, an empirical assessment for MENA countries

    Get PDF
Export diversification has become a priority goal for the development strategies of the MENA countries. In this paper, we aim at measuring the effects of exports’ diversification on growth in MENA countries. But we also try to assess the way new exports and FDI interact each others in the process of growth. Within the framework of an endogenous growth model, we claim that FDI can act as a complementary factor in the discovery process. The model is estimated by the system-GMM and we provide robust evidence that FDI do not necessarily have the same effect on growth according to the diversification level. We also show that while FDI have a positive and significant effect on the MENA countries’ growth, it is most probably rather linked to the direct effect on value added and employment than to the spillover effects of technological transfer.Export diversification, FDI, Growth, MENA, GMM system

Determinants of the continuous use of E-GOV information systems and services in Morocco : Proposing an integrative model

    Get PDF
The digital transformation of public administration is a strategic project that has been initiated by Morocco several years ago. It is a very ambitious project that is of great importance for the development and growth of the country. Yet, its success depends highly on the involvement and participation of citizens. However, in Morocco, there is a lack of comprehensive information regarding the adoption and usage of these solutions, as well as the e-gov satisfaction levels among citizens. This research aligns with theories of information system usage behavior in a post-adoption context and focuses on the user's perspective, emphasizing the importance of studying the peculiarities of their usage behavior in order to promote the success of the systems and solutions offered to them. After addressing the situation of e-gov services in Morocco and presenting the theoretical basis of the research, this article proposes, in its third part, an integrative model composed of a fusion between several theories with the objective to study the continuous use behavior of e-gov services and systems in Morocco. This model includes motivation and satisfaction constructs to explain usage continuance. The proposed model will be the starting point of an empirical study whose goal is to explore all the assumed relationships in the model and to analyze them
