    Growing complexity of problems of logistics management in enterprises anddifferentiation of the used applications without common database force businesses tosearch for solutions which facilitate the processes of logistics decision-making. One ofthe concepts proposed in this chapter is a design of decision-maker/logistics interface.Firstly, technologies of corporate portals were described, being a basis for ergonomicand useful interface. Next the properties typical of functional multimedia interfaceadapted to the logistics decision-makers’ needs were listed. Further in the chapter,methodological assumptions for interface creation were made whereas the benefitsbrought by personalization of both form (in terms of topography, colours andarrangement of main components of the interface) and content were emphasized.corporate portal, dynamic internet applications, graphical user interface model;

    4th International Conference on Open RepositoriesThis presentation was part of the session : Conference PostersAn extensive evaluation of the Fedora Commons 3.0 and DSpace 1.5 digital document repository systems has been conducted. The evaluation aimed at selecting an open source software package that best satisfies the FAO Open Archive and FAO organizational requirements and the requirements for the storage, dissemination and preservation of documents and bibliographic metadata. Both repository systems were evaluated against thirty-two criteria chosen from nine core categories of requirements: community, security, functionality, integration, modularity, metadata, statistics and reports, preservation, and outputs. These criteria were selected with the merger of the FAODOC and FAO Corporate Document Repository (CDR) into the FAO Open Archive in mind.Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation

    Get PDF
    The paper reviews product data technology initiatives in the construction sector and provides a synthesis of related ICT industry needs. A comparison between (a) the data centric characteristics of Product Data Technology (PDT) and (b) ontology with a focus on semantics, is given, highlighting the pros and cons of each approach. The paper advocates the migration from data-centric application integration to ontology-based business process support, and proposes inter-enterprise collaboration architectures and frameworks based on semantic services, underpinned by ontology-based knowledge structures. The paper discusses the main reasons behind the low industry take up of product data technology, and proposes a preliminary roadmap for the wide industry diffusion of the proposed approach. In this respect, the paper stresses the value of adopting alliance-based modes of operation

    This brief documents the European Commission's new approach to capacity development. European development assistance aims to develop capacity and produce sustainable results, in line with the European Commission (EC) commitment to the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness and the Accra Agenda for Action. This is reflected in its approach to capacity development (CD) which: (i) recognizes the fundamental importance of local ownership of CD processes, (ii) encourages co-ordination of CD support by different donors, and (iii) seeks to provide adequate quality assurance. All CD processes supported by the EC are to be designed, managed and monitored with local partners in the lead to ensure that they are demand-driven and contextually appropriate
