Citizen Acceptance Towards e-Government - Department of Welfare
Nowadays, almost all countries are moving toward technology advancement and
changes. With technology, complicated tasks can be simplified. However, there are
also several people that do not understand the use of technology especially internet
and some cannot accept these changes. Hence, many studies has been conducted to
study on the impact of these technology changes whether to the people or to the
development of a country. The purpose ofthis study is to develop an e-Government
system specifically for the Department of Welfare, Perak (JKM) based on the
currently used manual system. This online system is called Sistem Bantuan Jabatan
Kebajikan Masyarakat, Perak (SBJKM). The objective ofthis project is to develop
the SBJKM that will be able to generate statistical report and approval from the
District Officer (DO). SBJKM will simplify the work process where the processing
time can be reduced, lessen the hassle of staff handling paper-based system and
reduce risk such as data loses. Besides that, this system intents to introduce the user
to the e-Government concept and study their acceptance toward the newly
developed system. The scope of the study for this project is on how the system
manages the applications as well as providing online approval for the citizens and
JKM staffs. The system includes several functions such as information provider,
user registration, search and data retrieval; and application status check up. The
target users for this system are the citizens and JKM staffs. The methodology being
use in executing this project is incrementing prototyping, where the development of
the system is based on prototype component or module per module. The result and
discussions in this project has touch on the comparison between features applied in
the existing JKM websites in each state. There are also snapshots ofthe developed
system which include the citizen part and the JKM staff part. This developed system
has been used in getting the citizens' data in the citizen acceptance test. The test
which is conducted online using survey has return the results represented in diagrams for their knowledge and acceptance on e-Government. However, this
system also has several limitations such as the security measures, human computer
interaction (HCI) point of view and the study that has been conducted. In
conclusion, the system is developed to give more commodities to the user by taking
into accounts the user requirements to solve their current problems in using their
existing system. Thus, the system is recommended to improve and enhance its
reliability in security, interactivity in HCI point ofview and functionality to give the
user more satisfaction in using the system
User acceptance of open enterprise solution: the OSS-ERP case
Organizations implement Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems with the objective of reaching
operational efficiency and the incorporation to new markets through the information flow control on time of the
entire organization. However, ERP systems are complex tools, mainly for the small and medium size enterprises
(SMEs). For these reason, new ERP configurations have arisen for SMEs such as Open Source Software-ERP
(OSS-ERP). OSS-ERP is a research topic barely analyzed by the literature. Specifically, this paper’s aim is to
focus on the OSS-ERP users’ acceptance and use. The authors have developed a research model based on the
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) for testing the users’ behavior toward OSS-ERP.Las organizaciones implantan Sistemas Integrados de Gestión (ERP, acrónimo de Enterprise Resource Planning)
con el objetivo de alcanzar eficiencias operativas y la incorporación a nuevos mercados mediante un mayor
control del flujo de información de toda la empresa a tiempo real. Sin embargo, los sistemas ERP son
herramientas complejas, principalmente la pequeña y mediana empresa (PYME). Por esta razón, están surgiendo
nuevas configuraciones de sistemas ERP para PYME como los sistemas ERP de código abierto (OSS-ERP).
OSS-ERP es un tópico de investigación escasamente analizado en la literatura. Concretamente, este artículo se
centra en el y aceptación de los usuarios a los sistemas OSS-ERP. Los autores han desarrollado un modelo de
investigación basado en Metamodelo de Aceptación de la Tecnología (TAM) para testar el comportamiento de

Online help-seeking in communities of practice
Interactive online help systems are considered to be a fruitful supplement to traditional IT helpdesks, which are often overloaded. They often comprise user-generated FAQ collections playing the role of technology-based conceptual artifacts. Two main questions arise: how the conceptual artifacts should be used, and which factors influence their acceptance in a community of practice (CoP). Firstly, this paper offers a theoretical frame and a usage scenario for technology-based conceptual artifacts against the theoretical background of the academic help-seeking and CoP approach. Each of the two approaches is extensively covered by psychological and educational research literature, however their combination is not yet sufficiently investigated. Secondly, the paper proposes a research model explaining the acceptance of conceptual artifacts. The model includes users’ expectations towards the artifact, perceived social influence and users’ roles in the CoP as predictors of artifact use intention and actual usage. A correlational study conducted in an academic software users’ CoP and involving structural equations modeling validates the model, suggesting thus a research line that is worth further pursuing. For educational practice, the study suggests three ways of supporting knowledge sharing in CoPs, i.e. use of technology-based conceptual artifacts, roles and division of labor, and purposeful communication in CoPs

A framework for the adoption and diffusion of Personal Learning Environments in commercial organisations: an exploratory study in the learning and development sector in the UK
This study presents an exploratory approach to identify the main factors of Personal Learning Environment (PLE) adoption and diffusion within commercial organisations. Utilising an inductive investigative approach via the use of Grounded Theory methodology, relevant adoption factors were identified and their resulting influence during various stages of the innovation diffusion process were proposed. Data was collected using semi-structured interviews followed by systematic analysis using a three-staged coding process. The results revealed 10 factors affecting the adoption of PLEs influencing the innovation diffusion process at various stages. Informed by the Technology Acceptance Model and Innovation Diffusion Theory, the proposed model could have important implications for key decision makers within commercial organisations, while adopting, rejecting and assimilating new technological innovations (e.g. PLE) for learning delivery

The influence of national culture on the attitude towards mobile recommender systems

Copyright @ 2013 Elsevier B.V.This study aimed to identify factors that influence user attitudes towards mobile recommender systems and to examine how these factors interact with cultural values to affect attitudes towards this technology. Based on the theory of reasoned action, belief factors for mobile recommender systems are identified in three dimensions: functional, contextual, and social. Hypotheses explaining different impacts of cultural values on the factors affecting attitudes were also proposed. The research model was tested based on data collected in China, South Korea, and the United Kingdom. Findings indicate that functional and social factors have significant impacts on user attitudes towards mobile recommender systems. The relationships between belief factors and attitudes are moderated by two cultural values: collectivism and uncertainty avoidance. The theoretical and practical implications of applying theory of reasoned action and innovation diffusion theory to explain the adoption of new technologies in societies with different cultures are also discussed.National Research Foundation

Learners’ continuance participation intention of collaborative group project in virtual learning environment: an extended TAM perspective
The aim of this study is to explore learners’ intention to return to the electronic environment through the use of wikipages. The survey is based on students’ participation in a collaborative group project over a one semester course on business information systems. A research model based on the extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) has been proposed to investigate what factors will influence learners’ continuance participation in the electronic learning environment. 75% of students returned the questionnaire and the data analysis results based on the extended TAM Shows that the learners’ intention to return to the electronic learning environment was highly associated with their attitude towards the electronic learning tool and the affection associated with the tool
Issues for consideration to adopt educational computer games for learning and teaching
Computer games have started to gain attention in the domain of learning and teaching. The integration of computer games for education in the classroom has starting to gain acceptance in some countries. However, for schools which have never used computer games in the classroom, study still need to be conducted to investigate the teachers' belief and attitude toward the usage. The purpose of this paper is to examine issues for consideration when adopting educational computer games for learning and teaching. This paper also examines the concepts that related to educational computer games and aspects of learning and teaching. In addition, the theories of technology acceptance which use to assess the perception, belief and attitude of teachers and students have also been investigated
The use of UTAUT and Post Acceptance models to investigate the attitude towards a telepresence robot in an educational setting
(1) Background: In the last decade, various investigations into the field of robotics have created several opportunities for further innovation to be possible in student education. However, despite scientific evidence, there is still strong scepticism surrounding the use of robots in some social fields, such as personal care and education; (2) Methods: In this research, we present a new tool named: HANCON model that was developed merging and extending the constructs of two solid and proven models: the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model to examine the factors that may influence the decision to use a telepresence robot as an instrument in educational practice, and the Post Acceptance Model to evaluate acceptability after the actual use of a telepresence robot. The new tool is implemented and used to study the acceptance of a Double telepresence robot by 112 pre-service teachers in an educational setting; (3) Results: The analysis of the experimental results predicts and demonstrate a positive attitude towards the use of telepresence robot in a school setting and confirm the applicability of the model in an educational context; (4) Conclusions: The constructs of the HANCON model could predict and explain the acceptance of social telepresence robots in social contexts

If a few decades ago the development of the Internet was instrumental in the interconnection between markets, nowadays the services provided by Web 2.0, such as social network sites (SNS) are the cutting edge. A proof of this trend is the exponential growth of social network users. The main objective of this work is to explore the mechanisms that promote the transmission and reception (WOM and referrals) of online opinions, in the context of the
SNS, by buyers of travel services. The research includes some research lines: technology acceptance model (TAM), Social Identification Theory and Word-of-Mouth communication in virtual environment (eWOM). Based on these theories an explicative model has been proposed applying SEM analysis to a sample of SNS users’ of tourist service buyers.
