Reconciling a component and process view
In many cases we need to represent on the same abstraction level not only
system components but also processes within the system, and if for both
representation different frameworks are used, the system model becomes hard to
read and to understand. We suggest a solution how to cover this gap and to
reconcile component and process views on system representation: a formal
framework that gives the advantage of solving design problems for large-scale

Start Time and Duration Distribution Estimation in Semi-Structured Processes
Semi-structured processes are business workflows, where the execution of the workflow is not completely controlled by a workflow engine, i.e., an implementation of a formal workflow model. Examples are workflows where actors potentially have interaction with customers reporting the result of the interaction in a process aware information system. Building a performance model for resource management in these processes is difficult since the required information is only partially recorded. In this paper we propose a systematic approach for the creation of an event log that is suitable for available process mining tools. This event log is created by an incrementally cleansing of data. Analysis of signalling pathways using the prism model checker
We describe a new modelling and analysis approach for signal
transduction networks in the presence of incomplete data. We illustrate
the approach with an example, the RKIP inhibited ERK pathway
[1]. Our models are based on high level descriptions of continuous time
Markov chains: reactions are modelled as synchronous processes and concentrations
are modelled by discrete, abstract quantities. The main advantage
of our approach is that using a (continuous time) stochastic logic
and the PRISM model checker, we can perform quantitative analysis of
queries such as if a concentration reaches a certain level, will it remain at
that level thereafter? We also perform standard simulations and compare
our results with a traditional ordinary differential equation model. An
interesting result is that for the example pathway, only a small number
of discrete data values is required to render the simulations practically
indistinguishable
