Public Governance. A Blueprint for Political Action and Better Government
This paper sets forth a comprehensive viewpoint about how Public Governance should be assessed and worked-out, by making three contributions to the subject matter. Firstly, it provides the semantics by which this field of learning and practice may become operational in Political Science. Next, a four-tiered framework of analysis is laid bare, which deals with architecture, covenants and safeguards, collective action, and deviant behavior. Socio-Economic Mechanisms to Coordinate the Internet of Services: The Simulation Environment SimIS
Visions of 21st century information systems show highly specialized digital services and resources, which interact continuously and with a global reach. Especially with the emergence of technologies, such as the semantic web or software agents, intelligent services within these settings can be implemented, automatically communicating and negotiating over the Internet about digital resources without human intervention. Such environments will eventually realize the vision of an open and global Internet of Services (IoS). In this paper we present an agent-based simulation model and toolkit for the IoS: 'SimIS - Simulating an Internet of Services'. Calendar.help: Designing a Workflow-Based Scheduling Agent with Humans in the Loop
Although information workers may complain about meetings, they are an
essential part of their work life. Consequently, busy people spend a
significant amount of time scheduling meetings. We present Calendar.help, a
system that provides fast, efficient scheduling through structured workflows.
Users interact with the system via email, delegating their scheduling needs to
the system as if it were a human personal assistant. Common scheduling
scenarios are broken down using well-defined workflows and completed as a
series of microtasks that are automated when possible and executed by a human
otherwise. Unusual scenarios fall back to a trained human assistant who
executes them as unstructured macrotasks. We describe the iterative approach we
used to develop Calendar.help, and share the lessons learned from scheduling
thousands of meetings during a year of real-world deployments. Our findings
provide insight into how complex information tasks can be broken down into
repeatable components that can be executed efficiently to improve productivity.Comment: 10 page

The archive solution for distributed workflow management agents of the CMS experiment at LHC
The CMS experiment at the CERN LHC developed the Workflow Management Archive
system to persistently store unstructured framework job report documents
produced by distributed workflow management agents. In this paper we present
its architecture, implementation, deployment, and integration with the CMS and
CERN computing infrastructures, such as central HDFS and Hadoop Spark cluster.
The system leverages modern technologies such as a document oriented database
and the Hadoop eco-system to provide the necessary flexibility to reliably
process, store, and aggregate (1M) documents on a daily basis. We
describe the data transformation, the short and long term storage layers, the
query language, along with the aggregation pipeline developed to visualize
various performance metrics to assist CMS data operators in assessing the

Tool support for reasoning in display calculi
We present a tool for reasoning in and about propositional sequent calculi.
One aim is to support reasoning in calculi that contain a hundred rules or
more, so that even relatively small pen and paper derivations become tedious
and error prone. As an example, we implement the display calculus D.EAK of
dynamic epistemic logic. Second, we provide embeddings of the calculus in the
theorem prover Isabelle for formalising proofs about D.EAK. As a case study we
show that the solution of the muddy children puzzle is derivable for any number
of muddy children. Third, there is a set of meta-tools, that allows us to adapt
