    Digital human identity management, can now be seen as a social necessity, as it is essentially required in almost every public sector such as, financial inclusions, security, banking, social networking e.t.c. Hence, in today's rampantly emerging world with so many adversarial entities, relying on a single biometric trait is being too optimistic. In this paper, we have proposed a novel end-to-end, Unified Biometric ROI Segmentation Network (UBSegNet), for extracting region of interest from five different biometric traits viz. face, iris, palm, knuckle and 4-slap fingerprint. The architecture of the proposed UBSegNet consists of two stages: (i) Trait classification and (ii) Trait localization. For these stages, we have used a state of the art region based convolutional neural network (RCNN), comprising of three major parts namely convolutional layers, region proposal network (RPN) along with classification and regression heads. The model has been evaluated over various huge publicly available biometric databases. To the best of our knowledge this is the first unified architecture proposed, segmenting multiple biometric traits. It has been tested over around 5000 * 5 = 25,000 images (5000 images per trait) and produces very good results.     Hand-based multimodal identification system with secure biometric template storage

    WOS:000304107200001This study proposes a biometric system for personal identification based on three biometric characteristics from the hand, namely: the palmprint, finger surfaces and hand geometry. A protection scheme is applied to the biometric template data to guarantee its revocability, security and diversity among different biometric systems. An error-correcting code (ECC), a cryptographic hash function (CHF) and a binarisation module are the core of the template protection scheme. Since the ECC and CHF operate on binary data, an additional feature binarisation step is required. This study proposes: (i) a novel identification architecture that uses hand geometry as a soft biometric to accelerate the identification process and ensure the system's scalability; and (ii) a new feature binarisation technique that guarantees that the Hamming distance between transformed binary features is proportional to the difference between their real values.     Advanced Partial Palmprint Matching Based on Repeated Adjoining Minutiae

    Nowadays, high resolution palmprint images are used for recognition. The features that can be extracted from a high resolution palmprint image include the minutiae points. In this paper, instead of full palmprints, partial palmprints are used for matching. Partial refers to a part of the palmprint such as the thenar and hypothenar or hypothenar and interdigital areas. The minutiae can be easily located from the thinned palmprint image by using a window. Since there are a large number of minutiae present within a palmprint image, the minutiae are grouped into several clusters. The extracted minutiae are clustered using Hough circles. In order to avoid spurious minutiae resulting from the presence of immutable creases, radon transform is made use of. By selecting initial minutiae pairs, the entire matching is done by using repeated adjoining minutiae matching. The algorithm is developed and successfully tested with palmprint database.     Security using Authentication system is an important concern in the field of information technology. It is an important thing as per as concern to the ruling of internet over people today. The growth in the usage of internet has increased the demand for fast and accurate user identification and authentication. This New threats, risks and vulnerabilities emphasize the need of a strong authentication system. The cryptography is a secret sharing scheme where a secret data gets divided into number of pieces called shares and not a single share discloses any information about secret data. There are some automated methods to identify and verify the user based on the physiological characteristics. To deal with such methods, there is a technology called biometrics which measures and statistically analyses the biological data. The biometric samples which are stored in the database as a secret are unique for each user so that no one can predict those samples. A biometric authentication system provides automatic authentication of an individual on the basis of unique features or characteristics possessed by an individual. The authentication system can be stronger using multiple factors for authentication process. The application like Aadhar Card uses more than one factor for authentication. There is some difficulty with authentication systems such as user privacy considerations in case of multiple biometric features, huge size databases and centralized database which may create security threats. To address such tribulations, the Authentication System using Secret Sharing is proposed, Secret sharing splits the centralized database across the different locations. This helps in reducing the database size and removal of threats in centralized database. Also user privacy is maintained due to the decentralized database
