Arrowhead's Aerial Attack
This case study utilized qualitative methodologies in order to gather the sentiments of Kansas City Chiefs fans realized during the 2018 regular season. The study focuses upon the Chiefs’ decisions in the composition of their roster, with regard to risk and fan identification. This work is provided and conducted with the purpose of contributing to sport management professionals a source for understanding how one franchise’s potentially risky player transactions were perceived by its fans, and how those transactions might have affected identification with the team. Individual interviews of 12 Chiefs fans were conducted to gather fan sentiment. The ensuing analysis of that data provided the themes that represent the results of the study. In total 17 themes prevailed from the study, those themes range from community impacts, perceived negligence on the Chiefs’ part, to causes of angst and excitement

Determining Factors of Risk Tolerance: Evidence from Fantasy Football Snake Drafts
This paper utilizes fantasy football snake drafts to analyze risk tolerance of individuals who are trying to maximize their present and future utility, but are faced with unknown factors and only have limited resources. Fantasy football provides a unique perspective on risk tolerance, different than the commonly researched fields of auctions, financial portfolios, and lotteries. I examine mock draft data from Fantasy Football Calculator as well as rankings data from Fantasy Pros to gauge the amount of risk associated with each draft pick. I find that the more perceived uncertainty that is connected to an individual selection, the more likely the selection will exhibit risk averse characteristics
Wittgenstein's Paperwork. An Example from the "Big Typescript"
The edition of the Nachlass from the early thirties by Michael Nedo and the completion of the "Bergen Electronic Edition" (BEE) have provided Wittgenstein scholars with all the material required to investigate the author's philosophical development starting with his auto-criticism of the "Tractatus" and leading to his later views. Wittgenstein's strategy of dictating from his notebooks and cutting up the typescripts to rearrange paragraphs into sequences of remarks is well documented in Nedo's edition and the BEE provides convenient facsimile access to every page Wittgenstein wrote or edited throughout the process. Some researchers have begun to revise received opinions that were based upon the "books" previously published by the trustees. (Hrachovec 2002, 2004, Kientzler 1997, Nyiri 2002, Pichler 2004, Stern 2002) Yet, the scientific community has barely begun to discover the richness and density of the philosophical endeavor manifesting itself in this material. There has, understandably, been an interest to trace the origin of remarks, well-known from the "Philosophical Investigations", providing some background to Wittgenstein's most popular ideas. Various doctrines of what is becoming known as the "middle Wittgenstein" have been noticed, but they have themselves been perceived as more or less consolidated theories. Wittgenstein's editorial activity has been recognized as a hypertextual undertaking avant la lettre, yet there has been insufficient attention to the philosophical impact of these hypertextual strategies themselves. It is all too easy to be caught by someprovisional result captured on a printed page and to overlook the fact that some of its philosophical significance can only be recognized by considering its genesis
Sports Podcast Consumption: A Qualitative Media Content Analysis
The objective of this research is to identify the elements of a podcast production that foster and facilitate audience gratifications. The Uses and Gratifications Theory posits that consumers of media seek out desired content to fulfill their needs or gratifications. This qualitative media content analysis researches gratifications derived from sports podcast consumption by analyzing fifteen podcasts in three different categories: high-ranking, medium-ranking, and low-ranking. Through the qualitative content analysis of over 54 hours of podcast content, the emergence of four structural content elements that seem to foster and facilitate audience gratifications were identified. The implications of the findings of this research promote practical measures that can be taken to enhance podcast production, as well as advance the utility and application of the Uses and Gratification Theory in communications research
Chance, Choice, and Consciousness: The Role of Mind in the Quantum Brain
Contemporary quantum mechanical description of nature involves two processes.
The first is a dynamical process governed by the equations of local quantum
field theory. This process is local and deterministic, but it generates a
structure that is not compatible with observed reality. A second process is
therefore invoked. This second process somehow analyzes the structure generated
by the first process into a collection of possible observable realities, and
selects one of these as the actually appearing reality. This selection process
is not well understood. It is necessarily nonlocal and, according to orthodox
thinking, is governed by an irreducible element of chance. The occurrence of
this irreducible element of chance means that the theory is not naturalistic:
the dynamics is controlled in part by something that is not part of the
physical universe. The present work describes a quantum mechanical model of
brain dynamics in which the quantum selection process is a causal process
governed not by pure chance but rather by a mathematically specified nonlocal
physical process identifiable as the conscious process.Comment: 27 pages, no figures, latexed, uses math_macros.tex that can be found
