The integration of process planning and machine loading in small batch part manufacturing

PART is a highly automated planning system in which both process and production planning functions are integrated. This paper discusses a method to improve machine tool selection in process planning by integration with loading. A method is presented to select the best process plan from a number of possible alternatives taking into account the limited availability of resources. Various aspects of the quality of a process plan are evaluated and expressed in the so-called evaluation time. To prevent redundant work, partly worked out process plans are considered as alternatives. The consequences of the different alternatives have to be estimated which includes the estimation of machining times. The loading problem is modelled as the minimization of the total evaluation time for a given order set, subjected to capacity constraints

This research aims to discribe the thinking process of male and female junior high school students with extrovert and introvert personality type in solving math problems using Polya steps. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were 10 junior high school students of 3 Depok Junior High School, consisting of 3 extrovert male students, 2 extrovert female students, 2 introvert male students, and 3 introvert female students. Subject selection procedure was done by purposive and snowball sampling methods. The data collection was conducted by categorizing students' personality type, giving mathematics test to the research subjects, and interviewing the research subjects. In order to get valid data, the researcher used time triangulation. Technique of data analysis were done by: (1) classifying the data into four problem solving steps: (a) understand the problem, (b) make a plan, (c) carry out the plan, and (d) look back at the completed solution, (2) presenting the data in narrative text, and (3) concluding the thinking process of students in each problem solving steps. Male students with extrovert personality type, in understanding problem using assimilation thinking process, make a plan using assimilation thinking process, in carrying out the plan using accommodation thinking process, and look back the completed solution using assimilation thinking process. Female students with extrovert personality type, in understanding problem, make a plan, carry out the plan, and look back the completed solution using assimilation thinking process. Male students with introvert personality type, in understanding problem, make a plan, carry out the plan, and look back the completed solution using assimilation thinking process. Female students with introvert personality type, in understanding problem, make a plan, and looking back the completed solution using assimilation thinking process, and then in carry out the plan using incomplete assimilation thinking process

ARENA: Towards Informative Alternative Query Plan Selection for Database Education

A key learning goal of learners taking database systems course is to understand how SQL queries are processed in an RDBMS in practice. To this end, comprehension of the cost-based comparison of different plan choices to select the query execution plan (QEP) of a query is paramount. Unfortunately, off-the-shelf RDBMS typically only expose the selected QEP to users without revealing information about representative alternative query plans considered during QEP selection in a learner-friendly manner, hindering the learning process. In this paper, we present a novel end-to-end and generic framework called ARENA that facilitates exploration of informative alternative query plans of a given SQL query to aid the comprehension of QEP selection. Under the hood, ARENA addresses a novel problem called alternative plan selection problem (TIPS) which aims to discover a set of k alternative plans from the underlying plan space so that the plan interestingness of the set is maximized. Specifically, we explore two variants of the problem, namely batch TIPS and incremental TIPS, to cater to diverse set of learners. Due to the computational hardness of the problem, we present a 2 approximation algorithm to address it efficiently. Exhaustive experimental study with real-world learners demonstrates the effectiveness of arena in enhancing learners' understanding of the alternative plan choices considered during QEP selection.Comment: Add a link to access our ARENA system on the third pag

This study aim to describe the students\u27 thinking process of 9th grade of Junior High School has a high mathematics capability in solving the mathematics problem based on Polya rule. This study is qualitative descriptive research. The criteria of subject selection included the students\u27 has a high mathematics capability and communication fluency both spoken and written. The data collection was done using written test and task-based interview techniques. Data analysis done based on written test data and task-based interview techniques data. And then it has been done the method triangulation to get valid subject data. Finally, the result of description thinking process as follows: students with high mathematics capability, in understanding problem using assimilation thinking process, make a plan using assimilation and accommodation thinking process. Assimilation thinking process can be identified when the students can mention the prerequisite material, can directly relate the sides kite (BF = FG) and can directly develop problem solving plan. Meanwhile, accommodation thinking process can be seen when the students drew an auxiliary line from E to the right thereby intersecting with CD line (the intersection was labeled H point), so devided trapezoid AEDG become right triangle EHG and rectangle AEHD. In carrying out a plan and in looking back at the completed solution, the students used assimilation thinking process
