    Observation of X(3872)X(3872) in BX(3872)KπB \to X(3872) K\pi decays

    We report the first observation of B0X(3872)(K+π)B^0 \to X(3872) (K^{+}\pi^{-}) and evidence for B+X(3872)(K0π+)B^+ \to X(3872) (K^{0}\pi^{+}). We measure the product of branching fractions for the former to be {\cal B}(B^0 \to X(3872) (K^+ \pi^-)) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-) = (7.9 \pm 1.3(\mbox{stat.})\pm 0.4(\mbox{syst.})) \times 10^{-6} and find that B0X(3872)K(892)0B^{0}\to X(3872) K^{*}(892)^{0} does not dominate the B0X(3872)K+πB^{0}\to X(3872)K^{+}\pi^{-} decay mode. We also measure {\cal B}(B^+ \to X(3872) (K^0 \pi^+)) \times {\cal B}(X(3872) \to J/\psi \pi^+ \pi^-) = (10.6 \pm 3.0(\mbox{stat.}) \pm 0.9(\mbox{syst.})) \times 10^{-6}. This study is based on the full data sample of 711~fb1^{-1} (772×106BBˉ772\times 10^6 B\bar B pairs) collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB collider.Comment: 7 pages, 3 figure

Phase Motion in the Scalar Low-Mass pi+pi- Amplitude in D+ -> pi-pi+pi+ Decay

Applying the Amplitude Difference method to Fermilab experiment E791 D+ -> pi-pi+pi+ data, we measure the low mass pi+pi- phase motion. Our results suggest a significant phase variation, compatible with the existence of an isoscalar sigma(500) meson, as previously reported using an isobar model fit to the full Dalitz-plot density.Comment: 12 pages, 8 figures Accepted for publication at PL

Study of η\eta and dipion transitions in Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) decays to lower bottomonia

We study hadronic transitions between bottomonium states using 496 fb1^{-1} data collected at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric energy e+ee^{+}e^{-} collider. We measure: B(Υ(4S)π+πΥ(1S))=(8.2±0.5(stat.)±0.4(syst.))×105{\cal B}(\Upsilon(4S)\to\pi^+\pi^-\Upsilon(1S))=(8.2\pm 0.5 {\rm(stat.)} \pm 0.4 {\rm(syst.)})\times10^{-5}, B(Υ(4S)π+πΥ(2S))=(7.9±1.0(stat.)±0.4(syst.))×105{\cal B}(\Upsilon(4S)\to\pi^+\pi^-\Upsilon(2S))=(7.9\pm 1.0 {\rm(stat.)} \pm 0.4 {\rm(syst.)})\times10^{-5}, and B(Υ(4S)ηΥ(1S))=(1.70±0.23(stat.)±0.08(syst.))×104{\cal B}(\Upsilon(4S)\to\eta\Upsilon(1S))=(1.70\pm 0.23 {\rm(stat.)} \pm 0.08 {\rm(syst.)})\times10^{-4}. We measure the ratio of branching fractions R=B(Υ(4S)ηΥ(1S))/B(Υ(4S)π+πΥ(1S))=2.07±0.30(stat.)±0.11(syst.){\cal R} = {\cal B}(\Upsilon(4S)\to\eta\Upsilon(1S))/{\cal B}(\Upsilon(4S)\to\pi^+\pi^-\Upsilon(1S)) = 2.07\pm 0.30 {\rm(stat.)} \pm 0.11 {\rm(syst.)}. We search for the decay Υ(13D1,2)ηΥ(1S)\Upsilon(1^3D_{1,2})\to\eta\Upsilon(1S), but do not find significant evidence for such a transition. We also measure the initial state radiation production cross sections of the Υ(2S,3S)\Upsilon(2S,3S) resonances and we find values compatible with the expected ones. Finally, the analysis of the Υ(4S)π+πΥ(1S)\Upsilon(4S)\to\pi^+\pi^-\Upsilon(1S) events shows indications for a resonant contribution due to the f0(980)f_0(980) meson.Comment: 11 pages, 7 figures, 6 tables. Using data collected by the fixed target Fermilab experiment FOCUS, we measure the branching ratios of the Cabibbo favored decays Ξc+Σ+Kπ+\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+K^-\pi^+, Ξc+Σ+Kˉ(892)0\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+ \bar{K}^{*}(892)^0, and Ξc+Λ0Kπ+π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Lambda^0K^-\pi^+\pi^+ relative to Ξc+Ξπ+π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^-\pi^+\pi^+ to be 0.91±0.11±0.040.91\pm0.11\pm0.04, 0.78±0.16±0.060.78\pm0.16\pm0.06, and 0.28±0.06±0.060.28\pm0.06\pm0.06, respectively. We report the first observation of the Cabibbo suppressed decay Ξc+Σ+K+K\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+K^+K^- and we measure the branching ratio relative to Ξc+Σ+Kπ+\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+K^-\pi^+ to be 0.16±0.06±0.010.16\pm0.06\pm0.01. We also set 90% confidence level upper limits for Ξc+Σ+ϕ\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+ \phi and Ξc+Ξ(1690)0(Σ+K)K+\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^*(1690)^0(\Sigma^+ K^-) K^+ relative to Ξc+Σ+Kπ+\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^+K^-\pi^+ to be 0.12 and 0.05, respectively. We find an indication of the decays Ξc+ΩK+π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Omega^-K^{+}\pi^+ and Ξc+Σ(1385)+Kˉ0\Xi_c^+ \to \Sigma^{*}(1385)^+ \bar{K}^0 and set 90% confidence level upper limits for the branching ratios with respect to Ξc+Ξπ+π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^-\pi^+\pi^+ to be 0.12 and 1.72, respectively. Finally, we determine the 90% C.L. upper limit for the resonant contribution Ξc+Ξ(1530)0π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^{*}(1530)^0 \pi^+ relative to Ξc+Ξπ+π+\Xi_c^+ \to \Xi^-\pi^+\pi^+ to be 0.10.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figure
