User Interface for Particle Controller
The primary objective of this project is to develop a particle system application using
Particle System Application Programmer Interface (API) and a GLUT Based User
Interface (GLUI). Particle System API is a C++ function library specification that
allows applications to simulate the dynamics of the particles. The API wasimplemented
in this project to add a diversity of particle-based properties to interactive graphics
applications. The particle system specification is emphasized on the creation of a group
ofparticles that are 'manipulatable\
GLUI User Interface Library provides a standard user interface elements that allows
user interface elements to be added within an OpenGL Utility Toolkit (GLUT) and it
gives the user an opportunity to control the particle systems. The integration of both
Particle SystemAPI and GLUIlead to the paradigm shift in learningand developing the
particle systems

2D Graphical Arrangement Tool incorporating L-System
A lot of software for arrangement tools and drawing tools had been developed nowadays.
Drawing tools have made drawing much easier. Everybody candraw what ever they want
to drawby using the drawing tools. Although there are many drawing tools in the market
nowadays but none of them have integrated the L-System into it. L-System is a model
consists of an initial string called the axiom and a set of production rules which are
iteratively applied to that string. The string is examined for single characters which have
associated production rules. When a rule is found; the string which corresponds to that
character (as defined by the production rule) is substituted into the string. This project is
basically a drawing tool that integrates the element of L-System into it. In this project, it
still focused on the L-System but the difference is it applies in a way where user just can
play around with the models. Byusing the tools provided, user can see the usefulness of
L-System. The objectives of this project are to create user interface that integrate 2D LSystem
with the functions of arrangement tools, to understand on L-System, to
understand on Open GL User Interface (GLUI) and to show the usefulness of 2D LSystem.
The project is developed using the Open GL and C++ language and the engine
for the L-System tree is using the LParser
Role of Glucose Transporters in osteoblastic cells
Human skeleton is undergoing a constant remodeling through coupled actions of bone resorbing osteoclasts and bone forming osteoblasts and this remodeling process requires a constant source of energy for the cells. Different energy substrates such as glucose or fatty acids are thought to be important for osteoblastic differentiation and act as a fuel source for bones. Glucose is a major source of energy for cells, and it is transported into the cells via glucose transporter proteins (GLUTs).
To date, it is unclear which GLUTs are essential for osteoblasts. Therefore, this study aims to optimize silencing of GLUTs using siRNA technology to find out which of the known class I GLUTs are most important for the osteoblasts and to determine how energy is utilized by the osteoblasts and their precursors, the bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs).
Three main class I GLUTs (GLUT-1, GLUT-3, GLUT-4) were detected at mRNA level in rat osteosarcoma cell line UMR-106 by quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and at proteins level by immunofluorescence. We silenced each of these GLUTs individually by siRNA in the cell line and observed an efficient silencing (>90%) for each of the GLUTs. Our results demonstrates that siRNA constructs work efficiently in GLUTs silencing. Similar silencing was also observed in primary osteoblasts differentiated from rat BMSCs. We have also optimized primers for GLUT-5-10 and -12 and checked their expression in control tissues with qPCR.
In summary, we have established siRNA methodology for silencing of GLUTs in UMR-106 cell line and in BMSCs. These methods allow us to study the role of each GLUT in skeletal glucose utilization and we can further gain knowledge about the specific roles of each GLUT in osteoblast homeostasis and energy metabolism
Mitigating housing glut: an application to the Malaysian housing market
Purpose – This paper aims to construct a model procedure to mitigate housing glut by using both
qualitative and quantitative approach. The model applied in the Malaysian context analyzes the following: information contained in media articles and reports issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) on the housing market to extract the true picture of the housing glut issue; the relative impact (effectiveness) of housing affordability, housing prices and economic growth in influencing housing glut, and how it can be overcome so that appropriate preferential policies can be taken to mitigate the problem. Design/methodology/approach – This study uses quarterly data from 2000 to 2017 to conduct economic analysis, economic theory analysis and cointegrating regression, whereas information from mediapublished housing articles and reports issued by BNM are examined and interpreted to draw the true picture
of housing glut.Findings – The results obtained from quantitative analysis show that housing affordability exerts very mild relative effect (0.0097) negatively on housing glut, whereas economic growth and housing price produce
a relatively mild positive impact of (0.020) and (0.022), respectively, conflicting to the common consensus that the two factors have a significant effect on housing glut. Qualitatively, the results of this study show that housing glut seems to be relatively larger for affordable housing, which is contrary to the quantitative results, pointing to the existence of other influencing factors. Research limitations/implications – There is an imperative need for a third-party survey to gain a
comprehensive understanding of the market conditions and buyers’ sentiment and preference.
Originality/value – This study compares both quantitative and qualitative results with expected housing market movements and responses based on conventional wisdom
THE FORMATION OF CORPORATE STYLE TRADE ENTERPRISES
The article is devoted to the formation of corporate style of the trade enterprises. The priority of corporate style in the system of non-price promotion a trade entities on the market in the temporally competitive environment has been dedicated. The features of identification a brand by the consumers have been defined. The necessity of incorporation identity, integrity, comprehensiveness and unity of all elements in the formation of corporate style has been proved. Considered the eight stages of the corporate style’s formation, these are: preparation; the concept and strategy definition; the development of ideas; the visualization of forms; the logo’s creation; the development of essential elements of corporate style; the formation of brand book and/or haydlayn; the potential protection. The main goals, objectives and functions of the corporate style have been set. The major directions of development and of implementation of corporate style, such as unity of form (external image) and the unity of behaviors in the internal and external environment have been caused. The basic principles, which should be based on the formation of corporate style, which are: the principle of originality, relevance, plasticity, simplicity of perception and focus on the target audience have been established. The article is devoted to the formation of corporate style of the trade enterprises. AUGMENTED REALITY BASED INDOOR POSITIONING NAVIGATION TOOL.
Nowadays, indoor navigation gained people’s attention. Lots of techniques and technologies have been used in order to develop the indoor navigation. Indoor navigation is far away behind the outdoor navigation. For outdoor navigation, we have GPS to guide and give direction to the desired place. Unfortunately, it is restricted for the outdoor purpose only. Thus, the main objective of this project is to develop an interactive indoor navigation system and augmented reality is being use to superimposed the directional signage. In this project small computer which is Raspberry Pi has been used as a computing device. Probably in the future, all smartphones will have augmented reality based indoor navigation tools because it already equipped with many sensors such as an accelerometer, gyro, and compass which will improve the accuracy of positioning. Basically, the project has been tested at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS’s Information Resource Centre (IRC), and it has shown its flexibility in working as an indoor positioning tool to navigate to 5 different locations with multiple levels
