What type of Internet memes were utilized by the Online-Right to show support to former-President Donald Trump and to delegitimize the 2020 Presidential Election? In this thesis, I argue that the Online-Right used Internet memes for two purposes. The first was to discredit and attack the election and former President Trump’s opponents. The second purpose is that the Online-Right created a cult of personality around Donald Trump with the usage of Internet memes. Most of the literature focuses on the type of groups that use Internet memes on the Internet. I focus on what type of Internet memes were used by the Online-Right while also making a connection between the Internet memes and Donald Trump’s rhetoric on Twitter. I archive both Donald Trump’s and the Online-Right tweets to be able to answer these questions and find a link to their relationship

On February 8, 1996, President Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act of 1996 into law and explained that the legislation would stimulate investment, promote competition, [and] provide open access for all citizens to the Information Superhighway. However, contrary to the goal of opening wide the door to the Information Age, provisions of the Act violate the Constitution\u27s First Amendment guarantee of freedom of speech by imposing far-reaching new federal criminal liabilities on Americans who exercise their free speech rights on the Internet. In particular, a little-noticed provision of the Act, which expands an 1873 law banning abortion-related speech by criminalizing Internet discussion and information about abortion, continues to be a source of concern among pro-choice activists, First Amendment scholars, and electronic providers and users

The Obama revolution: From Hustings to reality

The Obama campaign turned American politics upside down. His approach to campaign financing revolutionised the rules of the game, and his use of the Internet and mobile web stirred unprecedented interest, brought people to the polls for the first time and produced a larger, more sceptical and informed electorate. Barack Obama portrayed himself as transcending politics, as a national reconciler, and as the harbinger of change in a disaffected country. No doubt President Obama has transformed American politics, but will he revolutionise American foreign policy as well

In April 1955, the heads of states of 29 African and Asian countries met in the Indonesian city of Bandung for the Bandung Conference, the first African-Asian intercontinental conference, officially called Asian-African Conference, also known as “the first intercontinental conference of coloured peoples in the history of mankind”, as Indonesia’s head of state and host of the meeting, President Sukarno, pointed out in his welcome speech. From 18 to 24 April that year, the Indonesian government together with the heads of states from Burma, Ceylon, India and Pakistan received leaders including Presidents, Kings and Prime Ministers from another 24 Asian and African countries to initiate new forms of cooperation among newly independent states. In the following decades, a number of research projects on data networks were developed in different (other) parts of the world, of which one later became known as the Internet. While previously written history of the Internet and of Internet governance has a strong focus on the occurrences in the Western world, this chapter will reflect on a number of developments in the Global South that marked the way of Southern countries into 21st century Internet governance
