    Get PDF
The emergence of the World Wide Web as a major communication and transaction channel stresses the preeminent importance of a company\u27s Web site for representing the organization, interacting with customers and conducting transactions. In comparison to other channels, the opportunities for targeting specific market segments are somehow limited, due to the Internet\u27s worldwide reach and predominantly anonymous users. Additionally, an ever-increasing number of customers are going online, which prevents the fine tuning of a site for specific user groups. Therefore, it seems essential that organizations possessing Web presence should be well aware of their site\u27s general functionality and how it is perceived by Internet users. For many years the analysis of Web sites has been one of the major topics for both scholars and practitioners, which led to a huge number of different techniques being used for the evaluation of sites. Furthermore, a variety of different theories and models have been developed which include the effects of Web sites as dependent or independent variables. In this paper, I compare different approaches to Web site analysis and present a classification framework. Numerous examples will be given to illustrate the various dimensions of the framework. Furthermore, benefits and drawbacks of the respective methods will be discussed where applicable. The results provide important insights into the current state of the art of Web analysis and will be supportive for anyone planning to conduct a Web analysis as well as for someone who is interested in getting an overview of the research field

With the emerging a new phenomenon of Internet, the banks have gone through the traditional process and have reached the stage of modern banking in their career. Following this transition, the banks became familiar with numerous banking technologies. However, the main concern in the use of these technologies was the quality assessment and their impact on customers' satisfaction and loyalty. Therefore, the objective of the present study is to provide a model which is able to assess the quality of any kind of banking technologies (whether the technologies that are already in use or those that will be used in the future). Firstly, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) method was used to identify the service quality dimensions within technology-based banking. Then, the effect of each variable on customers' satisfaction and loyalty was investigated using structural equations modeling employing LISREL software. Following exploratory factor analysis, 8 dimensions of easiness, assurance, security, customization, comprehensiveness, convenience, support services and the employee knowledge were identified as the service quality dimensions within technology-based banking. Finally, the effect of each of the eight dimensions on the customers' satisfaction and loyalty was investigated using structural equations modeling

Following the approach of Pavlou (2003), we investigate key drivers for consumers` electronic retailing (e-tailing) acceptance that are integrated into TAM (technology acceptance model). TAM is one of the better known models for explaining the intention to use technology and it integrates two perceptions: usefulness and ease of use. The main purpose of this paper is to explore the relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness in accepting e-tailing among Croatian consumers. In particular, the focus of the paper is on the areas which infl uenced customer commitment and loyalty in e-tailing. The results of the quantitative study among Croatian consumers show that electronic retailing, e.g. purchasing via the Internet, would enhance consumers` effectiveness in getting product information and their effectiveness in purchasing products.

The Customer-Centered B2C Literature through the Lens of Activity Theory: A Review and Research Agenda

    Get PDF
A multitude of published research studies investigate the B2C phenomenon from the customer point of view. At this point, making sense of such a large number of studies is a difficult task. The aim of this paper is to organize the literature to provide a clear depiction of what we know and what we don\u27t know about it in order to identify specific areas where future research efforts are needed. A review of the B2C literature of the past seven years yielded 115 papers investigating the phenomenon from the user/customer perspective, 74 of these were empirical. This literature is organized according to the Activity Theory framework, allowing for an enhanced understanding of the phenomenon through a social context perspective. Future research directions are identified and discussed

This thesis examines and assesses the transformation and implementation of the Dubai Government’s operation, governance and delivery of public services through its use of ICT. The research design includes a critical examination of the evolution of ICT and its role in changing public services and government operations worldwide as an early move towards E-Government. Three recognised theories are used to examine the E-Government transformation and its effects of on governments, namely: the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Diffusion of Innovation Theory (DOI) and the Lens of Max Weber’s Theory of Bureaucracy. Generally, the study seeks to determine what were the important factors for Dubai to achieve its strategic plan. Six questions were addressed by the research, stating the scope of work undertaken. First, to measure the status of eGovernment initiatives in terms of usefulness and ease of use. Second, to assess the extent of eGovernment application in terms of Government-to-Customer, Government-to-Business, Government-to-Government, and Government-to-Employees. Third, to determine the level of acceptance of eGovernment initiatives. Fourth, to explore the factors/challenges in a successful eTransformation of Dubai. Fifth, to assess the impacts/opportunities of eGovernment initiatives in the development of Dubai. Sixth, to formulate the model to achieve a successful implementation of eGovernment. A purposive sampling method was used for selecting citizens/customers, business employees and government employees, totalling 1500 equally distributed respondents. The researcher has prepared, administered and empirically tested three questionnaires, and also prepared and administered structured interviews with some officials of eGovernment. Data obtained are presented and analysed. Also, the study examines the catalytic role of eGovernment in the development of society, commerce and government, and shows fundamental changes from traditional systems or from bureaucratic paradigms to eGovernment paradigms. Comparisons are made with eGovernment applications in other countries as per rankings made by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU). The researcher has selected top ranked states to examine best practices in e-Government. Most importantly, this research presents a unique and original contribution to knowledge of the subject treated in its programme for achieving successful eGovernment through the proposed rocket ship model Al Bakr eGovernment Model of implementation, adoption, conclusions and findings of the study

Implementing technology in teaching and learning is advanced by mobile technology devices via wireless communication network. Extraordinary growth of mobile phone users has led to mobile learning that enables universities to implement teaching and learning practices of anywhere and anytime. However, this requires that educators equip themselves with relevant skills in using mobile technology devices. Based on technology acceptance literature, this study aims to identify the determinants that affect behavioural intention of the English language lecturers in Academy of Language Studies to adopt mobile technology devices. Applying Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the research model formulated three external variables; subjective norm, self-efficacy and prior mobile technology experience; three main determinants of perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavioural usage; and three key moderators of age, gender and university culture. A total of 337 questionnaires from 13 state campuses of Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) were analysed based on Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) approach using Analysis of Moment Structures (AMOS). Significant findings were found for the main relationships except for self-efficacy which did not influence perceived usefulness while perceived ease of use had no relationship with behavioural intention in using mobile technology devices. Perceived usefulness was a mediator for subjective norm and prior mobile technology experience towards behavioural intention. However, only age moderated the relationship between perceived usefulness and behavioural intention. Although university culture did not display moderation effect, the study identified the elements that influence the working culture of the lecturers. Based on the findings, it is proposed that UiTM conducts training workshops and clearly describes the policy of the university regarding mobile devices usage in teaching and learning practices. UiTM’s initiative will assist educators in using mobile technology devices towards fulfilling the aspiration of the university and nation to utilize ICT in achieving quality teaching and learning in Malaysia
