    Gathering point-aided viral marketing in decentralized mobile social networks

    Viral marketing is a technique that spreads advertisement information through social networks. Recently, viral marketing through online social networks has achieved huge commercial success. However, there are still very little research reported on viral marketing in decentralized mobile social networks (MSNs). Comparing with online viral marketing, viral marketing in decentralized MSNs faces many challenges, such as unreliable information diffusion and limited network knowledge. To address these problems, we propose the \textit{gathering point-aided mobile viral marketing (GP-MVM)} scheme, which contains two major components, i.e., \textit{seed selection} and \textit{information diffusion}. \textit{Seed selection} is responsible to select a set of seed nodes from which information diffusion begins. Based on a new metric called integrated contact strength (ICS), we propose two distributed seed selection schemes, i.e., \textit{ratio seeding} and \textit{threshold seeding}, while, for information diffusion, we propose the \textit{GP-aided diffusion} algorithm, which utilizes user GPs to promote information propagation. Continuous-time Markov chain-based analytical model shows that GP-MVM has a good scalability. Simulations indicate that GP-MVM outperforms two state-of-the-art information diffusion methods designed for MSNs, in terms of both diffusion proportion and diffusion speed

    Social-Aware Edge Caching in Fog Radio Access Networks

    Fog radio access networks (F-RANs) are becoming an emerging and promising paradigm for fifth generation cellular communication systems. In F-RANs, distributed edge caching techniques among remote radio heads (RRHs) and user equipment (UE) can effectively alleviate the burdens on the fronthaul toward the base band unit pool and the bandwidth of the RANs. However, it is still not clear as to how social relationships affect the performance of edge caching schemes. This paper attempts to analyze the impact of mobile social networks (MSNs) on the performance of edge caching in F-RANs. We propose a Markov-chain-based model to analyze edge caching among edge nodes (i.e., RRHs and MSNs), as well as data sharing among the potential MSNs from the viewpoint of content diffusion in the F-RANs. Moreover, we analyze the edge caching schemes among UE to minimize the bandwidth consumption in the RANs. Finally, the optimal edge caching strategies among RRHs in terms of caching locations and time are introduced to minimize the bandwidth consumption of fronthaul and storage costs in the F-RANs. Simulation results show that the proposed edge caching schemes among UE and RRHs are able to reduce the bandwidth consumption of RANs and fronthaul effectively

    The Role of Disgust in Eating Disorders

    Disgust, a basic emotional response, which influences approach/avoidance behaviors, has been studied in various psychological disorders, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders. The current study employed exploratory correlations and hierarchical linear regressions (controlling for race, anxiety, and depression) in order to be able to observe the relationships among three traditional domains of disgust (i.e., core, animal-reminder, contamination) and eating disordered behaviors. Results revealed significant correlations between core disgust and dieting behaviors, in addition to contamination disgust and bulimia and symptoms of food preoccupation as well as behaviors concerning self-control around food-related stimuli (i.e., oral control). More importantly, disgust sensitivity was significant in predicting oral control and significantly accounted for 4.7% of the unique variance in predicting symptoms of bulimia and preoccupation with food. These results reveal the significant role of contamination disgust in the development and maintenance of eating pathology above and beyond known predictors of maladaptive eating and other domains of disgust. Implications of the current findings as well as future directions are discussed
